This is why AJ is one of the best. Everything here is tasteful, melodic, and creative. He's not just wanking on random scales or trying to impress anyone with mindless shred. Every note has a purpose and it all flows together seamlessly. The scary part is that he keeps getting better.
I love how at 1:40 you can see the oil and wear on his fingerboard from playing so much! I hope 2013 is this man's big year, he most definitely deserves it!
ESP/EMG has a great pride and joy, and that's Andy James. Personally, out of all the musicians we have in this generation now, I personally think he's the best. His technique is so spectacular, and his melodic shreds just leave me in awh. Andy James has my 100% support! I look forward to seeing him with his band touring the U.S.
Andy James is the fucking man. I first heard this song in a live video and had no idea what it was called. I texted the video to Andy on Instagram, asking him what the song was. Within an hour he responded. He’s a god like no other.
I've been playing for 28 years and these "newer" players are really inspirational to me to push myself with new techniques and become a better player. Learning from the BEST always makes you a better musician IMO, so don't shy away and get discouraged. You can learn something from all types of players!!
Its amazing how on every video of someone shredding there are always a bunch of comments of people criticizing technique but yet they arent the ones with videos of them featured shredding... I just don't understand. I would think if everyone was as great of a player as they act behind the comments on youtube, they would have their own videos showcasing THEM!
Well said, I agree completely. And by the way, your english is great. It's means a lot, knowing you learned a language other than your native tongue. You are more worldly than most in this entire country!
How in the name of fuck does this have so few views. I don't even like commenting on videos but I have to tell other people watching this how great it is
Beauifull insrumental. An opportune influence from greats like Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony Macalpine, Jason Becker and a superb personal touch leading to a great final result. Happy to see guitar's not dead.
Gratz to the max on your ESP signature Mr. James!!! You definitely deserved it. Keep up the amazing work, and thank you Sir for all the awesome work you do.
Andy James is most definitely one of the most skilled guitarists ever. Not like there is any shortage of technical guitarists out there. But Andy's compositions are much more than a "technical display;" They are full and rich.
Kenneth Bolanio He is actually in a new band called 'Wearing Scars' with the singer from Mutiny Within. They have a single out currently. Not sure when the album will drop.
Youre exactly right, anyone who spends as long as andy james did on guitar is bound to get to where they want to be one day, never say you cant do it, when I first heard angel of darkness I was iike maybe in 5 years ill play it, im 15 turning 16 and 3 months later of practicing it I could play the whole song, not perfectly, but I could nail each part individually pretty close to perfect. Think of andy james playing as something to look forward to being able to do on yourjourneytobeingaguitargod.
No doubt. Probably one of the best guitar players period... Metal or otherwise. For some reason I don't think he would have a problem playing a bluesy pentatonic scale.
Petrucci was amazing in the Images And Words time (in terms of technique). The best melodic Petrucci was in Scenes From A Memory. Today Petrucci hasn't made an outstanding song or solo, unfortunately. Maybe The Best Of Times but out of that, nothing more. Andy in terms of technique is just a beast.
BlazeReviews to be fair, petrucci is in a band, people dont come just for petrucci but dream theater, and that is why he doesnt always need to show off his skills as often, unlike andy who has all the time in the world to do what he does best
Petruci is way beter to b honst he uses lot of chord changes n play in different time signature but andy use mostly minor chord1,6,4,etc and play mostly in 4/4 no doubt he is also one of great shredder like(jeff loomis, chris boderick, rusty cooly, kiko loureiro but kiko is too gd to b compared etc
the thing with Andy James's Songs is they are all eargasmic, but pretty much always transfer the same type of emotion, just in different flavours in each Song. Every Song gives me that 'Uhhh YES!!!!!" feeling, but he's not really telling a story, people like Satch and Buckethead are better at that. But he's still a beast at what he does!
Because playing guitar is cool. Am I the only one who doesn't get discouraged by Andy James's talent? Sure, he's miles ahead of me at guitar, but I've been practicing his song "Angel of Darkness" for a few months now, and I'm close to nailing it down. When I see great inspirational guitarist such as Andy James, I think to myself, "Wow, ya' know. If I practice even harder, I'll be able to be as good as him!" Idk, that's just my way of thinking, and it works for me, lol. Cheers.
I saw in lesson video that when he was a kind he used to play piano and thats the reason the space between his 1st and 2nd finger is so wide. This guy is a god !! :) \m/
agree completely, it's almost as if discrediting the hard work it takes getting to where a player such as andy is at. talent isn't important compared to dedication and patience.
he is certainly very inspiring, wow it is beyond me folks.some people just poses hidden wisdom, and some people attain hidden wisdom through possession.wich category do we belong to?
I don't know why the top comment on nearly every Andy James video is some guy saying how he put his guitar in the corner or threw it out of the window. I'm pretty sure the first time Andy James heard Paul Gilbert it made him want to pick his guitar up, not put it down.
Andy's work is awesome and does kick asses as it uses to. Only thing i'd mind is the camera movings along the fretboard of his guitar. That's disturbing, at least to me. Expect that, it's a great video like always.
The link to the EP doesn't work.. can you guys place another. This is the first time I've ever heard of Andy James and he just blew me away! I'm so down to checkout/buy his EP!

I met this man last week at college! he's such an awesome guy! played this song for us and it blew me away! :D
I've said it before, and I'll say it AGAIN: ANDY JAMES IS THE MAN!!!
His note choice is impeccable
Sweet Palinody exactly

The placement and execution off this part is just........ beautiful........ #criseverytym
Dude is like a arpeggio wizard
Andy James is the fucking man. I first heard this song in a live video and had no idea what it was called. I texted the video to Andy on Instagram, asking him what the song was. Within an hour he responded. He’s a god like no other.
Amazing vibrato, makes me have chills

This is the best guitarist out there. Expert at all levels clean or dirty. No one makes instrumental metal sound better. YOU ROCK ANDY JAMES!!!
I'm always impressed by Andy's skill and it makes me want to push myself to reach a higher level of guitaristry.
had the privilege to play this Guitar when Andy came to my college... nicest guitar ive ever played! one of the best guys ive ever met too!

ghostfacedude93 Where is your EMGTV video?
Jake The Toad ..ahhh shut up
It is mere jealousy on their part. It takes hard work to reach this level of skill which most of those criticizing can't do.
Well said, I agree completely. And by the way, your english is great. It's means a lot, knowing you learned a language other than your native tongue. You are more worldly than most in this entire country!
Liked Andy for years it's so nice to see him getting steadily bigger.
Old school and modern metal vibes mixed with Andy's own awesome taste for melody. Refreshing and awesome!
How in the name of fuck does this have so few views. I don't even like commenting on videos but I have to tell other people watching this how great it is
Andy James kills it every time 🤘🎸🤘🎸
Andy James and Paul Gilbert , miles ahead of us all
Beauifull insrumental. An opportune influence from greats like Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony Macalpine, Jason Becker and a superb personal touch leading to a great final result. Happy to see guitar's not dead.
Such a remarkable guitarist, I have been following up on his videos throughout the years. His licks and notes always keeps my ears guessing.
Verse and bridge scale sounds wicked.
Simply stunning...
Gratz to the max on your ESP signature Mr. James!!! You definitely deserved it. Keep up the amazing work, and thank you Sir for all the awesome work you do.
I'm still with Laney, and it's been nearly two years lol
Andy James is one of the main reasons I subscribed to this channel. xD
Another amazing song andy.
Andy James is most definitely one of the most skilled guitarists ever. Not like there is any shortage of technical guitarists out there. But Andy's compositions are much more than a "technical display;" They are full and rich.
Lol when the light hits the guitar just right you can seriously see where Andy plays most of the time. GO ANDY JAMES! ROCK ON!
GROWN MAN licks right there. James KILLED it.
it makes me cry.... you rules man..

Epic 2 note per string sweeping!!Epic arpeggios and melody!!

Shook that mans hand and held that guitar too! he's such a chilled fella! I melted to the chorus when he banged it out!
I love Andy James
damn that notes... oh my ears.. awesome hellyeah
Great style-Love it. Go Andy! Technically I can see the Zack connection. Yes! Like melodically and that great overdriven sound.
damn making it to the EMG stage and to sit in the chair where all of these greats have been is a dream of mine
1:23 Coolest lick I've ever heard!
Than you never heard War March's licks :3
War March at the 2:00 mark. Gotta see the emg tv one. Ridiculous. The guy crushes it and is a beast.
don't quit just because he's crazy talented, use it to better yourself.
stunning, absolutely stunning!
I know SMT is disbanded, but hope to see Andy perform Hourglass live on emgtv or his channel. That would be awesome.
Kenneth Bolanio He is actually in a new band called 'Wearing Scars' with the singer from Mutiny Within. They have a single out currently. Not sure when the album will drop.
This is beautiful
Andy James... Simply amazing!!! \m/

Awesome dude
This clip just sold me on these, massive tones bro.
BEST CURRENT metal guitar player in the world
No doubt. Probably one of the best guitar players period... Metal or otherwise. For some reason I don't think he would have a problem playing a bluesy pentatonic scale.
petrucci is better

Andy James is a Beast.
The sound is so perfectly balanced that even with headphones it doesen't annoys.
ANDY JAMES KING OF THE KINGS
Andy James is awesome on guitar !!
Una de las mejores canciones del repertorio de Andy James, de su EP Psychic Trasfusion.
Awesome tone with the mini! Gotta check one out now fo sho.
When you see a great guitarist it shouldn't discourage you, you should be motivated to improve and hopefully one day be as good as them.

Pasan los años y sigue siendo sorprendente.
Amazing.
this is so mind blowing! i love it! i could just eat every bit of it!
I saw in lesson video that when he was a kind he used to play piano and thats the reason the space between his 1st and 2nd finger is so wide. This guy is a god !! :) \m/

My Master :) I LIKE YOU ANDY JAMES !! FROM INDONESIA :D
