December 8, 2024 Sunday School

Good morning and welcome to the Adult Sunday School lesson for December 8, 2024, prepared by the Northlake Blvd. Church of the Nazarene in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. We are Bunny and Jim McLellan your fellow Bible students and guides. Today’s lesson is titled “The Spirit’s Anointed” and our scripture for today is Isaiah chapter 11 verses1-10 and chapter 61verses1-3.
The subtitle for today’s lesson is “God anointed Jesus to bring the good news of righteousness and justice to a broken world.”. From today’s lesson we want to understand we are to accept God’s invitation to join with Jesus in bringing healing to our world. Last Week: We learned of the joyous hope the world will experience when the Messiah, the Prince of Peace, is born.
This Week, we will learn that the Messiah will bring a message of good news, healing for the broken-hearted, and freedom for those living in darkness.
The Hebrew term shalom is consistently translated “peace.” It carries the meaning of overall well-being and reflects the Hebrew concept of wholeness. It can include a unique sense of calm and peace even in the midst of turmoil. What did this sense of peace mean for Isaiah, living in turbulent times? Let’s think about this question as we look at an “Image of Peace in Isaiah.”
