+Sydney Ennis Every time I hearthis song i just understand Alice! The rest is every time jgdhikhfrejkfli :D :D :D This was the firts time i understod the lyrics :D :D
Their diction is very good, actually - they have perfect English accents, so if you are not English you might have trouble with it. Also, if you've ever sung in a choir, it's very hard to make your words clear when singing that high in pitch. The effect Elfman wants is that he is using the voices as an instrument mingling with the orchestra, not as a solo with accompaniment.
Love Danny Elfman! I love anything played in minor! He's done most of Tim Burtons movies but he's also responsible for the Simpsons theme song! He uses VSL which he claims is his favorite to use. (Vienna symphonic library) Vienna strings are his fav!
AAAAHHH YES I'M CRAZY OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE AND THIS SONG IS BEAUTIFUL (and tbh, I'm so obsessed with it that I can recite the whole movie beginning to end)
According to Wiki: "The Nightmare Before Christmas originated in a poem written by Tim Burton in 1982, while he was working as a Disney animator. " So I guess he's already done it eh? It took a while for Disney to fund it but....
Alice in Wonderland II coming.... I love this song, makes me feel so good and so far away storm everything, just thinking how awesome must be to be ALICE in her wonderful and private world...I'm so jealous!
Alice Through the Looking Glass will be coming to theatres in Summer 2016! So be ready to have another magical adventure !! Characters- 😡🎩 👯 👸 👑❤️ 🐭 🐰 ☕️🐰 Can u guess any?
Thanks for taking the time to make this! The words to this song are INCREDIBLE! L.C. would be proud, I think. This song is very fitting with the book. Hats off to the composer and lyricist, as well!
Despite Danny Elfman's comments that writing soundtracks is such bleeping hard work and he often thinks of quitting, I am SO glad he keeps composing. This song is evocative for me on many levels, particularly as an abuse survivor. Thank you Danny!
Good Christ. Danny Elfman did the opening for the Simpsons. Appreciate him. He is an amazing composer. Edward Scissorhands will all always be my favorite of his composures
I dont care what people think about this movie, the music and the film itself is a classic. People that dont like something are the ones to speak louder than the ones that like it.
The movie looked stunning. The acting was great. The soundtrack is lovely. The plot, the dialogue, and the character structures were what kept this movie from being a classic. Such is the way of Tim Burton's more recent works. Sigh.. Depp really dropped the ball on this one. They should have kept Crispin Glover cast as the Mad Hatter.
Personally, I loved it. I love Tim Burton, he's an artistic genius and there's only so many of those in this lifetime. And Danny Elfman, holy crap he is genius too. Put those two together and you have epic brilliance.
I friggin love this song. My 15 year old friend and I (I am 13) will be doing this song for a student choreography routine for next year's competition season. Look for us in 2013!!
This song highlights something within the ideology of wonderland, as much as it does in america mcgee's take on it, that wonderland does not exist without alice, and even in her rational mind, wonderland needs her to make sense of everything in it, both for herself and for wonderland itself. This is why in mcgee's telling, where alice is very much insane, it reflect in wonderland of her own madness.
you know, i never knew this song had lyrics until now. in the movie, i can't hear them saying anything, yet when i read along, it all sounds so clear and i wonder why i didn't hear it before.
A lot of people here are saying how the movie was bad. All Alice in Wonderland movies are terrible after you read the books. They're ridiculously good.
I never read the books, but I really liked the first movie. I feel like the average movie viewer goes into an Alice movie not expecting madness to unfold and so they get upset when it does. I enjoy the quirkiness quite a bit :p
the books are good but are a waste of time. yes, of course, the story goes on in it but alice wasted like 4 pages talking about how she thinks she turned into A DIFFERENT PERSON. ugh. i read that book for an hour and never even got to where Cheshire cat's at.
Alice in Wonderland is an example of just how powerful stories can become after a full century has passed and they've sat brewing. Sadly in terms of world history we are, as you might have guessed, only in the very beginning of this happening. The modern novel as we know it very much only had its birth period a full century and a half ago and in a way Alice in Wonderland was one of the only "interesting" "surreal" stories to come out at that time. It might sound like that was a long time ago, but in a way we got kind of screwed, because it wasn't..... The people who are around a century from now, or two centuries from now, are gonna really be having a blast with all the stories that are old by then.. .. I'm really jealous! They will have a multitude of interest songs tied in with literature like this one. We only have the few. Look at how Alice has traveled.... she is so far from jus those two little books now... its amazing. She's older than everyone else whose surreal or fantastical in our culture really. Certainly older than that Lord of the Rings gang. Alice will always be the great great grandmother of all the future "tripper" characters. There's no doubt in my mind that her legend shall still be enjoyed, widely, in the year 2800, or 2900,or even the next millennium 3000.... ALICE! OH ALICE!
I really love this song, and thanks for posting! But in a weird way, I almost like it not knowing the words; just hearing the voices treated as an instrument. It's definitely got a weirdly wonderful vibe to it either way.
Do you guys know a book called "After Alice", by Gregory Maguire? It's amazing, about Alice's friend, Ada, who also falls in the rabbit hole while looking for her. I haven't finished it yet, but it looks super awesome. Check it out, you'll love it
I have an Aunt Alice. Though my Aunt Alice can be a bit difficult, she is amazing! What is more she has blonde hair and blues eyes like the character which makes me love BOTH Alice and Wonderland movies that much more! I love the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland! I love all of Tim Burton's movies!
Marvelous!! the music is beautifull, the voices give me shivers, and the lyrics are pure Wonderland :3 I think only Lewis carrol himself could do the same or better
Somehow this reminds me of every single version of Alice in Wonderland I've ever heard of. This is like the ultimate Alice theme for me. Unfortunately the movie did not have the same feeling.
R.I.P. Alan Rickman, a wonderful caterpillar, an amazing wizard and a talented actor

I loved the movie, but hey. To each their own.

+Sydney Ennis so im not the only one!
+Sydney Ennis they have terrible diction
CarSVernon very true
This song makes me feel protected and confident, but it scares me at the same time. It's the most fantastic song and the lyrics are very powerful.
for some reason, i think this would be good for Coraline...
+Poison Rose (hellhound1776) //Yess! I love that movie.
Maybe for Coraline 2☺️
Coraline 2 will never come out. Luckily. Timothy is a director with more pride in his work to sink that low.
YAY
DANG YESSS
John Williams and Danny Elfman are the best composers of our day.

I'm watching this because i saw the film with the live orchestra yesterday at Royal Albert Hall, it was amazing i cried so much throughout lol
Danny Elfman is one of the greatest music composers alive.
AAAAHHH YES I'M CRAZY OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE AND THIS SONG IS BEAUTIFUL
(and tbh, I'm so obsessed with it that I can recite the whole movie beginning to end)
Escuchar esto en vivo fue uno de los mejores placeres de mi vida entera, gran tema del gran Elfman.
I wonder what would happen if Tim burton was told to make a movie based on nothing but his imagination
It would be the ultimate Halloween movie .
According to Wiki: "The Nightmare Before Christmas originated in a poem written by Tim Burton in 1982, while he was working as a Disney animator. " So I guess he's already done it eh? It took a while for Disney to fund it but....
the scariest movie ever no thanks.
Edward Scissorhands was based on his childhood, he's not a credited screenwriter but the idea is his.
+Heraus Stormer
Just Halloween? Goths everywhere would make it their national movie.
I think some of his best work is based on his own ideas. I hope he starts doing that again.
ITS ALL SO BEAUTIFUL
Danny Elfman was the legend.

Hauntingly beautiful

I completely love this song! Danny is one of my favorite composers!
Despite Danny Elfman's comments that writing soundtracks is such bleeping hard work and he often thinks of quitting, I am SO glad he keeps composing. This song is evocative for me on many levels, particularly as an abuse survivor. Thank you Danny!

Well it is Danny Elfman who composed both.
also same as the Double trouble in Harrypotter
at the begining, yeah
And Edward Scissorhands.. '-'
Talk about a rip-off!
Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, and Johnny Depp, I am so complete with you guys working together
And once again, Danny Elfman continues to amaze me with his beautifully composed music.
@jcrickmanfan96
Yes, the first time I heard it... I thought: ''OMG, this is such a beautiful soundtrack!''
My choir is singing this song!!! I have the best choir teacher ever! thanks Mrs. E! :)
Good Christ. Danny Elfman did the opening for the Simpsons. Appreciate him. He is an amazing composer. Edward Scissorhands will all always be my favorite of his composures
I NEVER knew the lyrics. Thank you! I positively love this song!
We're playing this in my orchestra so I wanted to hear the professional version. Amazing - I had no idea! Brilliant art, Mr. Elfman!
I dont care what people think about this movie, the music and the film itself is a classic. People that dont like something are the ones to speak louder than the ones that like it.
Tim Burton is a genius. As well as Danny Elfman who created this and many more of Tim's songs.
I could listen to that day by day
FINALLY I GET ALL THE LYRICS, THANK YOU SO MUCH, My family and I love this song so much, specially my little sisters
This is one of the most amazing pieces of music I'm ever listened to. It's so beautiful and eerie and elegant

Oh my god, my school orchestra HAS to get together with the band and play this! This would be so fun to play on my violin!!!!
this song got me into this genre waaaaay back. aw (:
This song highlights something within the ideology of wonderland, as much as it does in america mcgee's take on it, that wonderland does not exist without alice, and even in her rational mind, wonderland needs her to make sense of everything in it, both for herself and for wonderland itself.
This is why in mcgee's telling, where alice is very much insane, it reflect in wonderland of her own madness.
hm, how funny, this music kiiiiiiiinda reminds me of the soundtrack in American Mcgee Alice, the "village of the doomed"

you know, i never knew this song had lyrics until now. in the movie, i can't hear them saying anything, yet when i read along, it all sounds so clear and i wonder why i didn't hear it before.
A lot of people here are saying how the movie was bad. All Alice in Wonderland movies are terrible after you read the books. They're ridiculously good.
Agreed
DrJohnZoidberg125 you should check out Alice in zombie land it's a good series like something Tim Burton would make
DrJohnZoidberg125 I agree
I never read the books, but I really liked the first movie. I feel like the average movie viewer goes into an Alice movie not expecting madness to unfold and so they get upset when it does. I enjoy the quirkiness quite a bit :p

I love the movie and this song. Burton and Elfman are both Prue geniuses!
Every time I hear this I think "This score is genius!"
It did get a Golden Globe nod, but it lost to The Social Network.
MediaLover194 Pity, this was better.
Love it.

I adore this (and the first of the two films)! Not the closest to the original text, but bang on in spirit and stylism.
