Wow great to see Master IP Chun playing Chi sau at that age..I touched hands with him at his and his late younger brother at my teachers club in London when he held there seminar there. IP Chun was much younger then he found it hard just to roll hands with me his positions went of as he does not play Chisau with pressure. He walked away in embarrassment. Sam Kwok was pacing up and down saying feels his energy! First though that cam to mind was `What energy`..Looking back and seeing him here he uses deflection only does not absorb force or use force to rebound back to the opponent. So never reached a higher level. He was told by his father to go to GM Victor Kan to learn more but as IP Chun once said at his teaching seminar he was not that interested in learning Ving Tsun.
@@WingChunChiSauTube hi sifu This year 2022 during December time I want to have a visit to ip chun. Is he up for meeting new people and teaching ? I’m a massive fan of wing chun and I honestly want to visit him in December time is that possible? Many thanks Dan from UK
I just watched a clip of Master Ip from 3 years before this one. He does NOT look any weaker at 96. If you've been around older people, 3 years after age 75 can be this massive change in health and appearance. And this is the first clip where he's not wearing sleeves. His upper arms look really good. It's really cool. Anyway. For people like me, who know nothing about the actual practice of chi sau, it's still this really amazing thing to see, a master at 96 doing it. From spam watching chi sau clips over a period of a few years, Master Ip has more skill in terms of where on his forearm, he can 'affect' the 'movements' of the opponent. The sifu, who are younger, that I've seen are fast and technically skilled. But they all have a predictable area of contact. Master Ip can have contact at both extremes of the forearm. So. He can be actually 'slower' than everyone he does chi sau with, BUT, he can just about be in two places at the same time. He's the only one I've seen who has this 'something' that makes him 'freakishly' better than most. It's awesome. I remember reading a book by Master Ip, from like 10+ years ago, when he was 87 and playing video games til 2AM. He said that he did wing chun for 'health.' Does being able to be in two places at the same time mean you look better at 96 than 93? Maybe he found a 3rd place at 94 or 95. A huge joy to see such skill.
This is not a particularly good example of chi sau. Or Wing Chun for that matter. Unfortunately both sons of Ip Man didn’t reach the levels of understanding and mastery that their father possessed. It is quite evident in this footage.
@Indigo V it’s just a pity that there’s not much footage of him at his peak. I frequently have people from other styles criticising Wing Chun as a result. Real shame

This man is 85 years old!
Hello, no, my Ip Sigong is 96 years old
When I first meet my Sigong he was 86 years old, now 96, I know this because I’ve spent 10 years travelling to see him🙂🙏🏻
@@WingChunChiSauTube Sorry! It was 96 years that I wanted to say!
He is actually 96 and still going strong. He is an inspiration to all of us!

This is the reason why Bruce Lee said speed determines the winner in Kung fu.In order to beat that old man you have to be faster than him.
Speed is good but accuracy is better
