Thanks Barb, it’s how like to design… white space…I like to see the plants spaced, but I do enjoy buying plants and then get home and wonder where I will squeeze them in! lol….😂
I also live in Illinois and I have decorated my front porch with lots of mums and pumpkins, love it! I like space between my plants too, I am going to get rid of some of my daylilies, the are taking over! Your yard is so beautiful, just love it. Have a great vacation!!
Thank you Carol, I will! 🙂 yes, I had a ton of daylilies from the previous owners I dug up and was giving them away! I even put a little wagon up front with a free sign for lilies and hostas a couple seasons ago! Those multiple fast!!!😉💚
I just came across your video and I love your garden! So many things blooming and I love your fountain - great fence too! I just subscribed and can’t wait to see more 👍 Happy Gardening 🌻🌻🌻
We moved 3 1/2 yrs ago -- i began that first spring making flower beds. This yr I had one mum that was not looking too good, so dug it up to move elsewhere. But when dug it up decided to devide it & so ended up with 10 tiny plants. To my delight they have grown and tho not blooming yet, they are looking like will be soon & some are a good size & few are smaller plants. Recently purchased a purple aster & planted it in a front flower bed.
Your gardens are absolutely stunning. I just love how you designed them and everything looks so healthy and lush. I was so excited to see Pope John Paul. I planted one this spring as well and I love it so much I went back to the nursery to get another but they were gone. Hopefully next spring. So I did choose another for across from Pope John Paul. All Dressed Up. And you have that one too lol. Beautiful roses and I really like how the blooms holds up in the rain and stay on the bushes for a good while. Another that I planted next to All Dressed up is Life of the Party. A little smaller bush and the blooms change color. I wasn’t sure I was going to be happy with it but I’m crazy about it it. That might be one that you would enjoy.
Thank you for the tip on the rose addition! Same on the Pope only 2 remaining this Spring when I bought mine at the local garden center! I’m guessing the impressive blooms makes this one sell fast at the greenhouse!😍🌹
Your garden is so pretty! I also like to leave some space between my plants. I know everyone has their own style, but I think plants do better with plenty of air circulation, and I think it avoids a cluttered look, in my opinion.
I agree Anna, your right though depends on your design style and if you are more inclined to the minimalist or maximalist design approach! Although more than once I have brought home a beautiful flower and thought hummm… where will I plant it! lol..😉💚
Hi. Don’t the squirrels bother your pumpkin s , I started fake ones for my yard . Your yard looks so gorgeous . Gives me some ideas . I live in country here in Michigan. Time to water again.❤❤
Love your garden! I have a question, are those "Emerald Green Arborvitae" in the background? If so, how old are they? They are Beautiful! I've planted several and am wondering how long it will take to get that size.
Hi Joyce, yes they are. We planted part of the row in 2015/16 and added more in 2018. They were about 3 feet tall when planted. Tip for you…I think they would have grown faster if we watered more and gave them fertilizer! 😉🌲
I just love 💕 the fact that you leave some space between plants. Most gardeners just totally jam every inch with plants! 😂

I love to use variegated liriope any time of year, but now with its purple flowers, it is spectacular.
Great idea,Marilyn!🙂💚

Awesome April, dividing plants is a great way to fill in an area and it also creates cohesion! Plus it is budget friendly!😉💚
