This is probably the best documentary I have seen of Haiti. It focused on what they are trying to accomplish instead of past failures. The man who is a plumber especially warmed my heart.

Haiti has an incredible culture and history. My home is full of Haitian art. I love the people, but it's a tough place. Also, never give to charity in Haiti. Put money directly into the hands of poor people. That is the only way they will get it

The country then, was wildly successful without crime. Today Haiti is undergoing a metamorphosis of sorts that does not take away from the country's attractions but does lend concern to when and where to visit. However, Haiti is a bargain, and forgiving the detractions caused by the lack of security, it is a destination of shocking wonder. But then, let's be real, and be very careful.
