I am a 76 year old American civil engineer living and working in Kherson, Ukraine, throughout the war and I try to keep up with things relative to the war and spcifically what America is doing. We Americans are sooo SLOW but we come through eventually. If I did not think that, I would not be here. Again, great presentation and keep up the good work.

F-16s themselves aren't the gamechangers, but the wide array of ammunition available for them in vast quantities could certainly tip the balance. The U.S. and NATO have many different precision guided weapons that we have been producing and stockpiling for decades. Our old spare ammunition for aviation is better than russia's most advanced missiles.

I remember bad old days when we visited Leningrad (yes not St Petersburg) and even our monopol money finnish mark was better currency than ruble. For pennys man can trank as much vodka man want because there was noting else to buy.
I very much wish the first shipment of F16s was more than just 10. 100 would be a game changer and the US could easily arrange that. I recognize the logistic tail that would require as well as more secure airfield / hanger locations, but still I would wish Ukraine could get 100 of them this year. The presence of any F16s will of course also increase the effectiveness of HARM missiles which could then utilize additional sensory data the current launch platforms aren't fully compatible with. That will mean even more Russian radars going up in smoke. Yes, Putin's stated wishes were not based on any reality. I don't believe he had any expectation anyone in Ukraine or the West would do anything more than laugh at it. I suspect it was more about trying to convince his few remaining supporters that there was no great need to replace him yet and that he still saw a chance of winning, if they don't simply purge him via a personalized pogrom. Essentially, to me, his absurd list of his conditions for peace implies that even inside the halls of the Kremlin he is hearing rumbles that some of his supporters are unhappy with the current course of events. If he suddenly begs for peace, he will be dead before sundown of that day. By launching such a stupid SMO and not halting it within a week he put himself in a lethal box that has less and less exit opportunity. He has to pretend it is all still winnable and Russian losses thus far are light and economic gain is still probable. Again, to me, he is much more worried about more details of Russian losses becoming widely known than he is about a drone from Ukraine blowing up his armored limousine. The real powers inside Russia are to him a more immediate threat. His list of peace demands buys him a little more time before a trusted person simply puts a bullet in the back of his head or throws him out a window and announces he had a fatal heart attack. He will probably next try to identify or frame a scapegoat if it becomes obvious to all of the powers he has destroyed everything Russia had. China lacks the resources to take advantage of it's huge population. This is why they push towards India and Taiwan and other directions. IMO China would be much less of an immediate threat to the world if they suddenly got large territory with mineral and gas resources to occupy and begin to develop. China also hampered themselves with their only recently halted practice of aborting female fetuses. Now it has a lot of men who who have problems finding a bride. At the same time to the North there are many Russian mineral and gas resources as well as few hundred thousand hungry widows. Much of Eastern Russia was stolen from China. Perhaps it is time to begin thinking about how Russia's land borders should be re-drawn after Putin is gone? Could the world not just tell China everything East of the Ural's, North to the Arctic Circle s yours again? That would take a lot of internal pressure off China's leadership, give them the resources they need to become a major trading partner with more seaports and gas fields of their own, while also no doubt making a lot of single men (and starving Russian widows) somewhat happy. Internal changes in government usually follow a sudden increase in wealth. Yes, a lot of the stolen area around St. Petersburg could be returned to Finland. Yes, some question about who gets Rostov and Belgorod, but it shouldn't be the people in Moscow. Russians not happy with the new map changes could (as was done with the German people in Czechoslovakia and Poland after WW2) be afforded an opportunity to migrate (aka deport) back to the new boundaries of the town called Russia.

I follow a couple of trusted mil bloggers and you. I got really excited when I heard about the 300 new sanctions. In my gut, I knew it would tank the Russian economy. Putin is losing, as he must. Again, to me, he is much more worried about more details of Russian losses becoming widely known than he is about a drone from Ukraine blowing up his armored limousine. The real powers inside Russia are to him a more immediate threat. His list of peace demands buys him a little more time before a trusted person simply puts a bullet in the back of his head or throws him out a window and announces he had a fatal heart attack.
He will probably next try to identify or frame a scapegoat if it becomes obvious to all of the powers he has destroyed everything Russia had.
China lacks the resources to take advantage of it's huge population. This is why they push towards India and Taiwan and other directions. IMO China would be much less of an immediate threat to the world if they suddenly got large territory with mineral and gas resources to occupy and begin to develop. China also hampered themselves with their only recently halted practice of aborting female fetuses. Now it has a lot of men who who have problems finding a bride.
At the same time to the North there are many Russian mineral and gas resources as well as few hundred thousand hungry widows. Much of Eastern Russia was stolen from China. Perhaps it is time to begin thinking about how Russia's land borders should be re-drawn after Putin is gone?
Could the world not just tell China everything East of the Ural's, North to the Arctic Circle s yours again?
That would take a lot of internal pressure off China's leadership, give them the resources they need to become a major trading partner with more seaports and gas fields of their own, while also no doubt making a lot of single men (and starving Russian widows) somewhat happy. Internal changes in government usually follow a sudden increase in wealth.
Yes, a lot of the stolen area around St. Petersburg could be returned to Finland. Yes, some question about who gets Rostov and Belgorod, but it shouldn't be the people in Moscow. Russians not happy with the new map changes could (as was done with the German people in Czechoslovakia and Poland after WW2) be afforded an opportunity to migrate (aka deport) back to the new boundaries of the town called Russia.

I follow a couple of trusted mil bloggers and you. I got really excited when I heard about the 300 new sanctions. In my gut, I knew it would tank the Russian economy. Putin is losing, as he must. Slava Ukraini, Heroyam Slava. We understand because my uncles went to fight WWII for this very similar situation. Russia will lose.
