I loved the whole Dimitrescu part. The Castle was so pretty and detailed. And i realy liked the backstory of them and how they become to who they were. Its kind of sad that we don't spend that much time there :( Tbh i was dissapointed that she and her daughters aren't the mainvillians. Its still an fantastic game and i'm glad it exists :) Thank you for showing us around.
It felt like they changed it. The castle looked and felt like it was supposed to be more of an end-game thing, but the Devs changed it afterwards. At least that’s what I felt playing the game
watching this really makes you appreciate how difficult game making is, the optimizations the devs need to put in, it's literally like on a stage theatre play where deck hands move in and out of props just so it's less cluttered in the memory and less pressure on the graphics card so you can enjoy the game at high frame rate. amazing.
7:53 I love how there's actual motion capture of Ethan frantically kicking the air with his legs as Dimitrescu lifts him up. We normally don't have a chance to see that in the game, it doesn't actually need to be there, so it says a lot about how much work the developers put behind the making of Ethan's model in cutscenes. Now if they could just have given him a head 😅 (though I understand giving him a head and facial expressions would require many times the job of doing motion capture of the actor and putting it on the model's body, and again, it's something we need special mods to see, so I get it)
My favourite level was the Castle, I adored the lavish setting. The Dimitrescus were too interesting, formidable, fun, and complex to have been the starting level. Given her genius level intellect and abilities, the Castle should have been much further in the game to emphasise her threat to Ethan. Since the castle looks unharmed after the explosion and its further away from the village, a DLC prequel would be a good way to explore and find out more about them, sequel or spin-off would be amazing to really give them time to shine. Potential ways to bring them back: - Maybe it could be like RE4, Ada's side quest except as Chris or a team member has a mission that brings one there to the castle. Although, I'd much rather have a female protagonist because I am REALLY curious to compare a female protagonist to Ethan's (I get Maiden could kind of count as this). Would she flirt with a female protagonist, would she insult a female protagonist (obv manthing wouldn't work). Would she think a female protagonist's blood were sweeter? - Perhaps the Duke procures their remains (I didn't have the heart to sell them) and they somehow end up in the hands of someone scientifically capable in reviving them. More improbable things have happened, such as Ethan without a heart, Rose dismembered and revived . . .Chris punching a boulder. - Lazy, but they could say Donna Beneviento used her powers to make Ethan think they were dead/ there was a battle. Maybe Heisenberg informed the Lords, offered proof Mother Miranda was going to dispose of them, they teamed up to bring Mother Miranda down by using Ethan. - There are other maidens from her experiments that were considered promising. Maybe something can come from that research. Could work with either prequel or sequel. - Build on the Maiden demo concept. It was a brilliant concept because like Beneviento, the protagonist is unarmed and helpless. Either expand Ingrid's story or start with a new Maiden, like the maid from 1958. A maid would offer in intimate portrait which can show more of their family dynamic or provide more backstory. The castle is huge, so no shortage on places to hide. The castle is a beautiful, lavish setting, I wanted to spend more time exploring it, it represents so much potential. Maybe #DimitrescuDLC could trend on twitter or a petition? Maybe organise on Discord? I'm not savvy enough to pull such maneuver nor do I have any social media clout. If they know we want it, they'll be more incline to see the business incentive. Given the success of the character and game, there is already a possibility a DLC has been explored because it would be in their best interest to this potential. There is still much to be explored with Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. Would love to see more interaction between the Lords, as well as mother and daughters. Capcom really knocked it out of the park with her design and writing. I hope there is a way Lady Dimitrescu can return to the games/ be revived, along with her girls.
I liked this castle. Very detailed and ornate. The atmosphere and imagery while playing this level is amazing. They took concepts such as vampirism, gothic horror, and mixed it with the traditional “fight the dragon in the castle to save a girl” trope. I even forgot that this was a ResiEvil game sometimes, feels like a separate game altogether. A shame we didn’t get to spend more time in it.
Even tho many things were pretty predictable, I'm happy that i could see Lady D from every angle 😍😍😍😍😍 you have no idea how excited I am for the next part because the creepy ass house was my favorite part of the game, it gave me the P.T vibe that I absolutely loved 😍😍😍
There's a mod that adds his head+3rd person camera. Obviously wasn't intended to be experienced this way so you see all kinds of off camera shenanigans and Ethan's legendary poker face but it exists.
That's so cool to see the optical illusion in the mirror during the phone call scene. I never would have thought it was that. I had always assumed something akin to Silent Hill 2 and how they rendered mirror images of everything separated by, essentially, a transparent wall.
Thank you for showing these. I've always wanted to see what the WHOLE re8 map looks like and if it looks anything like the in game drawn maps. The relationship between structures gives me a better sense of size and direction but no one seems to think about it enough to show off the map.
I like that in in the first Heisenberg encounter, they made it look like he surrounded Ethan's entire body with metal but it was mainly his face. That was efficient
This reminds me of when I was 7 years old in a theme park, I was that scared to ride the Ghost train my parents got the guy to turn on all the lights to show me it wasn’t real lol. I still didn’t go on it but it made it better.
What's funny is, since it's all CG you could pretty much do anything, but it's more efficient to just do a bunch of sleight of hand off screen. Some of the oldest tricks are still the best.
Funny story, I did an experiment with Heisenberg in that first scene at 0:55. I put a landmine down in his path to see if it would change anything, and he actually set it off and everything but it affect him.

I realised that after the bridge area before you enter the factory grounds there is a pathway that leads up in to the mountains, its covered by an overgrown bush, i'd love to see what's behind it, also in castle D in the main bedroom where you are tied by the three sisters, there seems to be a lever in front of the fire place but you are un able to interact with it, i wonder if there is anything behind it?
If you go back and play through the scene, watch that spot as you're getting raised up on the hooks. That lever is pulled by one of the sisters to raise you up. I was wondering it as well until I happened to catch it.
Impressive techniques being used especially Dimitrescu mirror which I didn't expect to be a video but then again it was developed for the pass gen consoles which can't do Ray-Tracing reflections. Hope for future DLC Castle 🏰 Dimitrescu is a great fun section but it is to short and looks amazing on the PS5.
The question to ask is why bother with ray tracing reflections on a mirror that is only seen for about a minute and is done in a cut scene? It would be a waste of processing power and time to do it that way rather than just bake it in and set it up to look as if it's reflecting. It'd be different if she didn't throw the mirror but then at the same time that would allow a person to see what Ethan looked like (though I know we already know what his face model is supposed to be).

What does the little area look like when you shoot the bell that is outside the window in the castle? I always thought that was eerie that the bell that’s outside is considered to be in the room with the other bells. Even tho it is outside. (“Ring the 5 bells in this chamber?”
I knew something felt off about the mirror. It felt like the reflection was at 30fps where as my gameplay was 60fps. I dont understand why they couldnt just use real-time reflections

The death scenes in this game are far more gruesome than re7. Sometimes the death screen might kick into soon but most of the time they're way more gruesome. Unlike in re7 where the mold it would just stab you and he passes out, in this game you can actually see them ripping out his guts and slicing him and even chopping his head off
does the interior of the castle match the exterior? kinda like how the mario 64 peach castle can't fit inside itself? i wish someone would make a comparison. same with the beneviento house
Not sure if this helps, but I tried to build the castle in the Sims 4 somewhat recently. Literally had the game open on my playstation while I had the sims open on my laptop, going room by room trying to get every detail right. And nothing lined up correctly; the second floor did not fit on the first floor. I had to redesign a lot of rooms just so it all fit.
