    This documentary doesnt do justice to the insane complexity involved in this engineering project. Its very superficial. But still a decent effort from the producers. Also, the Japanese engineers have time and again proven their technological and engineering superiority here.

    • @rajchavan9786
      @rajchavan9786 3 года назад +2

      You are right. This video is very superficial and doesn't cover the complexity of the shopfloor dynamics in engineering project. I think its developed for audience who are from non-engineering background to give them a glimpse of the manufacturing and engineering world.

  • @pyroman6000

    I take it that simply erecting the new furnace in a different spot, getting it running, THEN shutting off the old one wasn't an option? It HAD to go in the same place the old one was? Pretty darn cool that you managed to pull this off! From the standpoint of someone who's watched as plant after plant went bankrupt and shut down, leaving nothing but empty space and ghosts most of the time, it's nice to see someone building NEW furnaces! Go India! Wish we were doing that. Now that we need the capacity and capability- we no longer have it...

    • @naveennagesh
      @naveennagesh 4 года назад +2

      Well, obviously building the new furnace in a different spot is almost like building a brand steel plant, since it involves re-routing all the support structures. That would have been prohibitively expensive.

    JSW bought this loss making plant from Birla (earlier known as Vikram Ispat). First thing they did after taking over, fired huge number of the on-roll employees. Brought poor uneducated labour from other states to work on (cheapest) daily wages, set up their camp (god knows whether they're livable or not), it's huge colony.
    JSW is increasing Units in this plant. It has increased pollution problem in villages alongside Goa Highway.
    Raw material comes through sea ways. Big ships unload the raw material in small barge which then brings raw material to plant jetty in Dharamtar creek. Unloading happens on the mouth of Creek which right in front of Gateway of India, Mumbai. It's same area where small fisherman depends on for fishing. Unloading process pollutes water.
    So,
    Air pollution, water pollution as well as blood sucking inhuman employment conditions.
    The list is never ending.

    Hope they can produce quality steel ! The Chinese stuff is not good enough for some uses. Like bearings for high speed and load for sure. Even some lower performance bearings fail fast. My Prius went through 3 in one year. I went to a better mechanic and he said the bearings were junk who installed them. I told him Sanchez auto repair. He laughed and said I was taken by Dirty Sanchez using cheap Chinese bearings. He uses only US, German or Japanese bearings. My muffler has been working for 2 years now with no bearing failure. Yes the cost 150 bucks and Chinese were 100 but what lasts is key to a Prius muffler !
