What is “hypersweating”?
I guess digging a world hole and making some Cursed Brick Wall takes some time, but it's relatively easy with Celebration Mk. II and once it's built, there's no timing or effort. Hypersweating like Mappy Railgun and 10,000 Etherian Mana Lighting Aura requires way more effort to do.
But, if you actually want to kill the DG, just use Phantasm and Blade Staff and fly sideways. It's like 30 seconds slower for way less effort lol
Love your content keep it up
You should say gex
Zenith?
how well do luminite arrows work?
just use the daybreak
Back in my day, we didn’t have any of these fancy weapons and methods. Just a good old fashion boomerang and hoik.
Back in my mobile 1.2 days, I fought him using razorblade typhoon and spectre armor and just tried outrunning it for like 10 minutes. Had to use a homing weapon, since mobile cam was so small
Even before then we used turtle armor and a black belt. Back then the Dungeon Guardian did 9999 damage so two turtle armor hits were enough.
@@thatonerandomguyontheinter4971 ha ha, the first time I beat the dungeon guardian was also back on 1.2 mobile. I mainly used the scourge of the corrupter so I could focus on dodging without having to deal with mana sickness. I miss old terraria mobile so much! Also, the original comment was a reference to Yrimir, who beat the dungeon guardian a decade ago with only a boomerang and hoik.
@@isakwatz11 and before that he was immune to all debuffs except frostburn. Commence frost armor + minishark
The yrimir legendary video. Where there was no reward for killing dungeon guardian. Good old times.
"Guys, here's how to not sweat to beat DG."
Proceeds to go into mathematical calculations to optimise the way to kill it (he is sweating)
maybe he's a computer? computers can't sweat
He’s sweating so we don’t
By "sweating" I think terrasteel means "building giant structures"
Getting a few different accessories isn't _that_ bad
Not like Mappy, Mappy has a big ego when it comes to the DG.
He did all the math, so we don't have to; We only need to follow.
If you consider following a step by step tutorial as to which way you need to hold one movement key and m1 for a few minutes "sweating," then I'm at a loss for words.
Back in my days, 1.2 on mobile, we used Chlorophyte Shotbow and several thousands of love arrows(about 3,5-4k). Works like a charm(20 minutes of life lost)
The way i did it with my brother was frostburn arrows, it wasnt immune and did 30 damage, killing it pretty quick
Haha, yep I did the same thing back then.
long ago (when My brother used to play Terraria) Turtle Armor just murdered DG all thanks to the counter it has.
Frost armor for the debuff in 1.2 plus love arrows and a chlorophyte shotbow melted the guardian for almost no risk
1.2 mobile i teamed up with like 3 of my friends and used flairons
Legend says that with enough flight time and whole lot of paper airplanes, anything is possible.
Might be a stretch here to say ‘without sweating’
I mean its just summoners gear, a thicc hellevator and a bow
I found Aerial Bane to be quite effective in killing the dungeon guardian when multiple guardians have spawned due to its arrow splitting mechanic.
I'm actually a little sad they buffed the dungeon guardian with complete debuff immunity. There are now a lot of items in the game that are completely irrelevant to the "fight" because of that.
They wot
So flasks won't add anything?
Give him a survivable projectile that deals like 350 fixed damage at 50% hp like a skull vortex where you have to be inside during the attack
And???? Its not even a enemy you are supposed to kill lmfao
I’m always glad to see that you’ve uploaded, not entirely sure why, but I think all of your analyses’ and such on random things like this is always just so fascinating and fun to watch
I remember doing this back in the PS3 days, but with a different method. One of my friends had a hacked world which had every single item in the game, including the SDMG (Moon Lord wasn't in the game yet, so idk how it was in the files) and Red's Wings (They had inf flight time, and you could fly horizontally). I just flew around the map, using chlorophyte bullets because I'm pretty sure that was the most efficient method back then. I then used the good old Magic Mirror dupe glitch and gave a bunch to all my friends.
I had the same exact experience on the ps vita. I went to a hacked world with the sdmg and the infinite flight time Red's wings. Was the owner of the world called coolcat?
you can also use the Spore sac dropped from Plantera for that extra summon and smoke damage
this aged well bc mappy uploaded a super easy way to make his railgun in a super small area lmao
you can also use luminite arrows instead of holy arrows with the phantasm and I think this would be better because the lasers its spawns would be more accurate than the falling stars, as well as the arrows relying on fire rate to make more lasers (which the phantasm has some good fire rate)
What they did to the Horseman's Blade was heresy. The absolutely driest, sweat-free DG kill was to just hoik into a pressure plate to trigger a statue that could be used to get an enemy for Striking Moment, and to spawn a Pumpkin to double dip into that buff so that its effect would be squared, then let it 1 tap the DG with a small arena that took a few minutes to make and use.
At least now the horseman's blade is a usable weapon when not doing things like that.
lol?? it's literally less usable now than it was, unless by "things like that" you mean "anything that isn't just walking up to things and clicking", which is a terrible metric and defeats the purpose of playing an otherwise deep game
@@Hextator is it really a "deep game" if the developers are always removing cheese strats, which I assume is what you mean by the things making it deep. I don't have anything against your point of view but the game is literally not deep by design, walking up to stuff and clicking is how the developers want it to be played.
See, that's your problem. You see engineering solutions, and identifying what things are capable of, as things the developers want to remove.
- Yes, it IS a deep game. There's literally thousands of items, and there's probably 100s of them that affect combat in some way, and there are tons of extra bosses and items to help people gear up for the required fights in the event that going through them linearly is too overwhelming.
- The removals I'm complaining about directly contradict past decisions the devs made (like making the HB work with statues again), which is part of why they're problematic.
The other reason is because none of the things they removed were actually overpowered, unlike the transmutation glitch - they're all just sidegrades*, with other options being preferable most of the time.
* The DG could be one shot by the Striking Moment debuff, and it was kind of weird that it could be squared, but also, what a cool, unique thing for the Horseman's Blade to do...kind of like...the jousting lances, which STILL one shot the DG when boosted by the Inner Tube. Hm...wonder why they left THAT in...
- The game IS deep by design...you really think that "walking up to stuff and clicking is how the developers want it to be played"? What an inane perspective. You basically just said the developers want people to not care about a vast majority of the game. They didn't add all the set bonuses and wiring stuff and special weapon and accessory effects so that people would just...not use them.
Stacking a bunch of statues together and swinging at them to spawn pumpkins is totally a Terraria thing. Hoiking past a bunch of heart statues for rapid healing is still a thing, and isn't much different. They intentionally left hoiking in the game, too, by the way.
You know what game Terraria is like? Castlevania. Do you know what people would call it if you told them not to backdash cancel? Ridiculous.
You can cancel an attack animation by backdashing, and you can cancel a backdash by crouching, and you can end a crouch by uncrouching. These are just normal, intended functions of the games, but Castlevania players don't call using them "cheese", they call it "skill". IGA intentionally leaves these functions in every IGAvania in the series. Building an arena around the Horseman's blade, and using it properly, is just using the sword to its fullest. Of course the game won't seem very deep to you if you call things like that wrong, but things like that are literally how the game is meant to be played.
I have nothing against playing the game like that. I fact, I like "cheese strats". But it is the community as a whole that calls them cheese, and the developers are literally removing them every chance they get. I don't agree with that but it is their view on the game, and they're patching things that they've previously left in the game: for example, though not related to bosses or combat directly (though it could summon multiple Duke Fishron at the same time), the multiple fishing line glitch, if I am not mistaken they removed that, added it back in, and then decided to remove it again. Addressing the points you made:
1. Most of the combat related items are basic weapons used to click enemies until they die, or basic stat boosts. The more unique ones, like titanium armour set bonus, are nerfed so people won't cheese bosses. Terraria can be deep, some people have even made a working computer, and the wiring for example does seem interesting, calling it just "not deep" was my mistake - but a lot of the community's accomplishments aren't intended by the developers, and the combat în particular really is not that deep, the things you say make it deep are constantly being removed with every hotfix.
2. The devs are contradicting their own decisions, see the fishing line glitch.
2.1. They may not be that overpowered, and I say this again, I LIKE using those "sidegrades", but the developers are usually removing them. I don't have anything the Terraria developers as people, and of course without them Terraria, which is a great game, would not exist, but clearly their view on "cheese" differs from a lot of the community including both you and me. And I'm actually fairly surprised about you mentioning the transmutation glitch - it'll likely be removed, but I don't think it should be. Sure, it's an extremely overpowered exploit that completely breaks the balance of the game, but it's such an interesting discovery, and complicated/obscure enough that the only players who'd realistically use it are those that have already beaten the game several times and are looking to experiment with weird stuff like that. I say again that I also would not remove "boss cheese", I don't actually disagree with most of your ideas, other than what you think the developers' stance is, which is contradicted by the game's updates. And I also don't think it's particularly great design if a weapon is significantly inferior to others at the same point of progression outside of very specific strategies. That is not deep game design, but the opposite, it's the community finding situational uses for objectively bad items with unique gimmicks.
2.2 I fully expect Jousting Lance damage to be capped sometime in the future, in 1.4.5 or a hotfix, they likely just did not notice or care enough about that particular exploit, at least in my opinion.
3. Wiring is impressive, I'll admit, but mostly outside of combat. And hoiking is, too, a very interesting concept that the community loved, and would be absolutely outraged by the removal of. Accessory and armour gimmicks are generally either plain and uninteresting but effective, interesting on paper but completely unusable, or interesting and "overpowered so they're removed days after being added. See negative torch luck, the developers were getting death threats over its addition so they finally agreed to re-adding it, I feel like something very similar would happen if they were to remove hoiking.
5. I have never played Castlevania, so I won't talk about that much, but regarding Terraria, if such strategies are the way you're meant to play, then why are the developers literally removing them every chance they get?
Look, I am not here to argue, we agree on some things, and apologies if I seemed angry, or that I personally hate any form of "cheese strats", which I really don't. I also don't dislike the developers, I am thankful for making such an amazing game, and they get a lot of extreme hate for minor reasons (see torch luck), but at the same time I believe you're (unfortunately) wrong about their stance. When they're removing something every single update, that can't possibly be the intended way to play the game.
terra, do you know if the north pole, fired straight upwards, while flying straight up along with the dungeon guardian is any good? is it even close to chaing gun or phantasm? i will test it later, but... wanted to know if you have already.
I did this with my brother years ago, using the crystal bullets. But we didn't have mounts (not sure if mounts were in the game at that point?) but ran on a flattened world and asphalt, and a teleporter to turn us around when we reached the end of the world.
With the phantasm you can also use the luminite arrows because it spawns 4 more arrowsand maybe use the forbidden armor because it is aix of two classes which are summoner and mage so you can use the laser mini gun from the martian invasion plus mana flower with the crystal blade staff and reforge every single accessory to lucky wich gives 28% critical chance ALONE and use the destroyer emblem and similar accessories and potions too
I do have to wonder how some of Calamity's weapons might do in a test like this, given the dual-hit nature of God Slayer Slugs and the ungodly fire rate of the Minigun and Soma Prime.
Years ago me and my friends put on turtle armor. There were three of us with it on. It just killed itself trying to kill us
U could just build a rollercoaster in a prisma shape with some traps in the middle (10mins building) and go afk for 4 hours like I did 5 years ago on my WiiU
This felt like stepping on the sharpest lego brick imaginable
Editing is fire!
Man, heart arrows were awesome for this. Thats how i killed my first one
Back in my terraria 1.3 days, i used a slime mount and wood blocks (i dont remember how i did it but im sure theres a tutorial)
I love to use a mine cart and mini shark pre hard mode to get it in one world. Takes forever but super fun too to setup.
I raise you this for non-sweat tactics:
Build a large (like "larger than the dunegon entrance area... by a lot") diamond formation with minecart tracks using bumper endings on the left and right corners so you can keep traveling indefinitely once you're riding inside. This should be someplace diagonally up and to the side of the point you wish to summon the guardian from.
Speaking of, dig to 0 level (Just above where the background changes to caverns) and mine into the dungeon from the side. Build a minecart track with a bumper style end such that the end is just low enough down to where riding on the rails to that point will summon a guardian. The other end of this track will connect to the diamond you built earlier, or you can build the diamond after doing this (tbh, I usually do).
Have a mace of any kind.
You're done! Ride the track that leads into the dungeon until the guardian is summoned. You'll bounce off the end, get sent to your diamond which you'll then endlessly bounce around. Throw your mace behind you, adjust your speed until the mace head makes continuous contact with the guardian, and go watch The Matrix or something- you've got time.
Is it fast? XD no. Is it easy? Literally pre-hardmode.
Back then my friend and I just set up a spawn at the top of a dungeon and one of us continually spammed the magic mirror and the other uses a terrablade to kill it lmao
I like how DG is either a quick fight or a boring ordeal.
This is the exact kind of conversation you wanna have on a date
quick question. what kind of texture pack are u using?
I'm surprised the turtle armor method wasn't brought up. Literal "insta kill". No glitches or really any effort at all.
iirc they patched that
I remember in the old mobile version how the dungeon guardian wasn't immune to the frost armor's frostburn.
Cool vid!
"Not sweating" *calculates the fastest way of killing it and uses absolutely endgame gear*
At this point setting up philosophers stone and using the funny invincibility chest and a basic lance is easier
What about summons plus a classic hoik. If the minions do hit while you are in the hoik then this is the least sweating right because once going you can just go afk and hooks are very easy to make
very respectable video
I mean, creating a vertical shaft that goes to the bottom of the world and is wide enough to encompass the entire screen seems like a fairly sweaty activity to me, but maybe I'm just out of shape.
Hoik:🗿
You can even do it pre-eoc
Im so happy the phantasm is mentioned
2:40 well, there’s another projectile arrow, although it has its issues
(Shown in events and such)
Good video already but damn that thumbnail is so nice
wouldn't Luminite Arrows be better? Since they spawn their laser projectiles which would be more accurate than the holy stars?
i think they give s whilst the stars dont and also the laser projectiles spawn too slowly
what item in your set causes you to get a glowing arm?
You can actually farm bone key extremely fast using Phantasm, luminite arrows and crit focused build.
I like the slime mount trick best
Would the Kaleidoscope or Morning Star minion crit chance tag be worthwhile?
when skeletron is too hard so you go into advanced mathematics
Back in my day, all we had was a keybrand and a sliver of luck
Me and my friend killed it on mobile years ago with Mega Sharks and chlorophyll bullets, while flying in a circle, it took some hours lol.
By making this video, you ha e proven you are a sweaty player.
Bro really said "hello" at the end of the video 😂
welp. Mappy just made a video about a simple, efficient way of killing the DG without hypersweating.
I remember a while back setting my spawn outside the dungeon than just running into the dungeon with turtle armor until it died from the damage reflect
“Why are you hitting yourself? Silly bone boi!”
**Player’s skull was crushed by Dungeon Guardian**
I used the portal gun and the piranha gun. Just bounced back and forth while his health ticked down
Back in 1.2,The fastest way is bow with frostburn arrow..it does 5 3 damage at that time ..
can we see this same video with hypersweating? I wanna see a strat that maximizes prep time and minimizes kill time
Already been done in 1 frame by Mappy
@@Adventurer32 not just done, but even shown in the same video
Holy fuck this is INSANE! But you can make shimer-tower by taking shimer, and surround it with bubble blocks so fallen starts go back into guardian
In a typical playthrough, how can I beat him prehardmode before skeletron?
North Pole is very good at this if you maximize melee speed and crit and shoot at an angle I’ve gotten like 80+ dps and that was without minions or crit chance.
Wouldn’t Luminite work faster if not better than holy, because they give a laser for every arrow hit, dealing more hps?
i prefer to use the queen slime mount to outrun DG, it is just enough to feel safe from it and it barely takes any work to get
Back in my day we used reds wings and a bit of range to beat him
Ok, now do the same but for Pre-Skeleton.
I just used the turtle armor with master ninja gear, then ran at it till I finally dodged a hit and killed it with its own dps
what about luminite arrows, i think it spawns an extra 4 arrows per shot and that might be better than holy stars
I Kinda winged it and made a giant arena and started to fight dungeon guardian using the phantasm and SMGD (whatever it’s called, the dolphin gun)
At first I was using the gun but I went back to using phantasm because it just did more damage. yea I pretty much killed it like a normal boss, it took 50 minutes to beat.
close its SDMG
dont forget the blade staff's armor chopping abilities and using as much armor pierce as you can to attempt getting 2-3 damage per blade hit (maybe even more if you crunch stats hard enough i havent checked)
Did you test luminite arrows?
Back in my day we used a really long platform and the Piranha Gun
Bro really went "i'm not sweating, this is just normal optimizations like maximizing going up and down"
what about luminite arrows though, it shoots clone arrows
what is the resource pack?:)
Remember mate, it takes the same amount of hit to kill the Dungeon Guardian with the Zenith to a copper shortsword
False! Zenith has a 14% base crit chance, Copper Shortsword only has a 4% base crit chance. Conclusion: Terraprisma
Back in my day, We had actual comments, not back in my day comments
You could use Luminote Arrows too...
I just used a teleportation system to afk kill it on Xbox 360. The first and only time I have ever killed it (other than in Journey mode but that doesn’t count as it’s obviously not legit).
Doesn’t luminite arrow also fire additional projectiles? Why is it worse than holy then, since you miss a lot of the holy stars?
I-Frames
What was happening to the old man at 0:16. Was the old man in an invisible backwards pushing hoik or is it a video edit thing.
Could be a platform hoik painted with echo paint
Actually nvm it seems like editing
@@koifish528It's the first one, I don't think he would spend like 5 minutes editing that.
@@LimeLoaf but what else could it be? Right when the player walks on screen, the old man stops teleporting back. It can’t be an invisible hoik
I like the detail in the thumbnail that the glow in both of Dungeon Guardian's eyes are respectively Yellow and Blue, which are, if you know............
A REFERENCE TO SANS UNDERTALE
Back in my console days, we just used thorns damage
I always used the wooden boomerang and hoik
I think I'll just stick with my sdmg and endless musket pouch
also morning star and kaleidoscope for minion crit chance
my first DG kill was on 1.2 mobile with Dragon Armor and a Mushroom Spear (i guess i thought the extra projectiles were good??). no clue why i didn't use any ranged setup. took me just under a half hour iirc. 10/10 would never do again.
Luminite arrows may be better than holy arrows for the bow
lets get sweatier:
weapons
1: spider staff can hit up to 12 times a second, only summon 2 to hit this cap
build a hoik loop with walls to ensure they keep latched on
2: as stated stardust dragon can hit 12 times a second
3: pick your weapon, the best weapons will have a hit rate of 15-20/s
4: stardust guardian for the another 12 hits/second
5: fill the rest of your minion slots
6: add in a sentry: lunar portal looks the most promising (assuming it doesnt screw you over)
If you want to review a obscure weapon I recommend Gray & Orange Zapinator. If you get lucky and get "Multiply current damage by 10' two times in a row you can pierce through Dungeon Guardian defense. I don't want to spoiler too much because it's one of the most fun weapons too use. Anyway, great video!
It's 3 am
Relatable
11 for me
I just took the zenith, the shrimpy truffle, and the solar armor and killed it normally
You could also maybe do dadulus bow with chlorophyte arrows, since they home I think
No chlorophyte arrows dont home. They bounce.
@@philipppavlinovic4596 They don't have a true homing effect, but similar to nano bullets, they will go in the direction of an enemy after bouncing if there is one close enough.
How did you get that cursor?? Pls answer
what about luminite arrows? those also spawn an extra projectile and its more accurate
*stardust guardian goes ora ora
The vampire knifes got me my first kill
In 1.2 mobile I used Chlorophyte shotbow with love arrows and frost armor, killed it in a couple seconds
Its been years without playing Terraria since I was like 12yo and I dont know how I was able to kill him back then... Ive been trying and trying and still, it doesnt make sense because back then I didnt even knew what I was doing, no YT nor tutorial
what about luminite arrows?
Turtle armor and blackbelt just respawn and jump down then repeat till it dies
you're only supposed to use earlygame pre-skeletron items
Would adding crit chance help increase the damage?
a crit deals 2 damage on the guardian
