This reminds me of a "Quillow." My mom used to make them, and we put our feet in the pocket. I love the fleece. Thank you for sharing this with us. God bless you 🙏💖🍀🤟✂️🪡🧵🦓✨Liz in Northern California.
Jenny you are the Best! I started sewing about four years ago and your tutorials are the Best! I also purchase most of my quilting fabric from MS as it is always quality! Love your Block magazines as well and have made several quilts/projects from them. I made this blanket today for my four year old granddaughter who is always trying to cover her feet when she’s on the couch. Love how it turned out! I have a feeling other members of my family are going to want one as well!
I watched this video this morning, sent the link to my friend and within 2.5 hours we were out fabric shopping for fleece for a blipper. I chose to make one for my almost 6 foot 15 year old son and within 1.5 hours of starting sewing one earlier it is done and ready for him to get up in the morning and try it out. Thanks for this tutorial, I can see a few of these being made up as gifts in my future
I am tall, myself, and have been doing this kind of quilt for about 15 years or more. I wish I had kept track of how many I have made to give away to friends, family, and my parents' friends. I LOVE THEM!
Cute! Great for Navy member nephew in his barracks. He’s 6’5” and I’m sure he’d love this. I know my son’s first request after leaving Air Force boot camp to attend school was “please make me a quilt!” He was so tired of the USAF issue blankets. That quilt has now been to Japan twice and all over the US along with being the go-to for a floor cover for his 2 kids!! I hope my nephew loves this just as much!
What a fantastic idea. Once again you have come up with another brilliant idea. I must make one of these for each my granddaughters as they will really appreciate it. Thank you again, Jenny, for coming up with all these wonderful ideas.
Oh wow this be neat for my step mom she always cold. So cool your from Missouri so am I. 25 min from down town Kansas city, if you have a store I should come visit, haven't sew anything in my life but watching makes me have the confidence to do so. Thanks for sharing and making your videos.
Great project to make for the grandchildren. I’m going to sew two additional seams on the bottom , middle for the feet. That way I can fold it like a quillow that was so popular a few years ago.
I make all the adults in our family a gift for Christmas. Last year the got beanies and neck warmers. Guess what they’re getting this year?! Thank you so much! Love it!
I had a giggle with this quilt, because about 15 years ago I made a "jiffy knit" blanket for my boyfriend. I knitted a 14" deep pocket on the bottom for him to tuck his feet in. I never thought about doing it with a quilt ~ oh my!
I made these for my Grandsons and they loved them the only thing I did different was I cut a fringed edge and tied them after I had sown around the blanket so even if it came on tied it still stayed together. Thank you for a great gift idea!
What a cleaver idea! I too have a "Jane" sewing machine. It just slides through thick fabric. Thank you for traveling to "Road to California" quilt show. Enjoyed your seminar. You're a hoot.
Love this idea. Love Kansas City Chiefs fabric. You might mention there are fleece sewing machine needles available. I use these needles when working when sewing two pieces of fleece together.
I make quillows which also have a pocket, but also fold up into a pillow. The ones I make are crib size - 45X60. It's 2 pieces of fabric with batting between - just tied together or you could quilt it if you wanted. The pocket is about 21 inches square and goes on the middle of the bottom back. The quilt folds up into this pocket and makes a pillow. They are great for travel or just having on the couch.
Great idea!! I'm going to make one for Papa, Nana and newborn Baby Boy...they can snuggle together in it in the foaling barn and be warm as toast. Thank you for this.
Ok Jenny you are amazing! You just gave me a huge idea. I like to sleep with the covers over my head when it's cold and then my sheet comes untucked from my mattress and my blankets are nearly over my feet. Ssooo you just gave me an idea. What if I did something similar and instead of it keeping your feet warm. When you make your bed and you put down your sheet and tuck it under. Make something like this and make it long to go over your pillows and have it folded at the bottom to also tuck under your mattress then put on your favorite blanket. Problem solved 😁😁 No more untucked sheets and cold feet at night. Ok I have a queen bed 🤔🤔. I gotta figure out how I'm gonna do this haha
In 2004 I made one just like this for my son-in-law stationed in Iraq. He used it on his bunk and tucked it under the mattress to keep it from falling off on the floor.
We have been using this for a long time. My 5 year old nephew repurposed a pocket where the blanket folds up to make a pillow. He named it his “foot pocket” 🥰
I love this idea, thinking "Christmas" for 2018, need to start early :). Thanks for sharing this wonderful idea, we have lots of "cold" feet in our family, hopefully not after seeing this and what a quick gift to make!!
i have been making this type of thing for years but with mine i still do my cotton quilting with batting so i quilt the front ( so i get to do the fun patterns ) ,then do the fleece on the back..wide binding to catch the front, Fleece and pocket (which i sew binding strip across the top of the fleece ) ...and for some cold fish...i sew a strip of fleece at hand height ( like a muff roll ) . So fun and everyone wants one.
What a cute idea! I want one for myself. Even though I put two afghans on my feet and body, I still am cold so a fleece blanket should do the trick, or I should say a blipper should do the trick! ❤️
Making these for very tall grandkids. Even the hubs asked for one, shocking! But I find the pocket flops open too much so am sewing a line up the middle. Each foot can go in its own pocket, and can get control of the pocket at same time.
I do this with most of my afghans I crochet, I sew the bottom of it up so my feet are covered. Handy in a recliner too because of the draft you get from under the foot rest.
I've made something similar for several years... using a single layer of fleece and cutting a 17" square of fleece.... then folding what would be the and "blanket" and stuffing it into the 17" square of fleece. This makes what is now commonly being called a "Quillow." Back in the 80's it was known as a "Secret Pillow"
This would also make a great gift for someone in a wheel chair or in a retirement situation ... who doesn't like to keep their feet warm?!? Take them to a football game on a chilly night or even camping.
I've made something called a quillo. It's made with a square the size of a pillow for you to put your feet in. then, when you aren't using it you can fold the blanket up, tuck it inside, and you have a pillow.
when I would make a item that was a pillow & would unfold into a quilt. My sons would put their feet into the pillow pocket area. They told me how much they liked that I had made it for them to keep their feet in. I had no idea what they were talking about but was glad they thought I had created it for them. This was over 40 yrs ago and they still don't know. Thanks Jenny

Way better idea than a Snuggie!! I love this!
I am tall, myself, and have been doing this kind of quilt for about 15 years or more. I wish I had kept track of how many I have made to give away to friends, family, and my parents' friends. I LOVE THEM!
❤❤❤ your Blipper. So I live in Australia, but what a super Christmas gift. Winter will come again.
Cute! Great for Navy member nephew in his barracks. He’s 6’5” and I’m sure he’d love this. That is a wonderful gift that will surely be appreciated. :) Thank those men for their service from us please.
I love the new background set. Jenny, you look terrific. Plus the buffalo check on that blanket quilt is my favorite.

I make all the adults in our family a gift for Christmas. Last year the got beanies and neck warmers. Guess what they’re getting this year?! Thank you so much! Love it!

Very fun! Beware - if you have cats who love to snuggle, you may have trouble getting your feet in the feet pocket! 😄
HAHA, that is oh so very true!
LOL... Good point. Something my Lil' Lulu would have figured out before I did. hahaha
Ain't that the truth, Haha. :)
I'd get rid of the cats permanently
Love this idea, but I’ve never sewn with fleece. Guess I’ll have to try it for Christmas gifts. 😉
You got a new watch! Love the video
Lol...I thought I was the only one who noticed that piece on her arm! Looks like a fitbit. I was just literally looking at one on Ebay 😉
She had a Disney one forever
I see minky for the inside! Thanks for the tut!
fantastic idea for tall people or kids
