kelly brook and daniel mays , love it
Stewart Lee shouldn't have given beer.
He should have given them pear cider made from 100% pears.
Or Mike's Hard Lemonade
Brilliant !
Exactly. Give it to them straight.
He's let himself go since then
It’s pear
"I bet you didn't think I'd like Crowded House, did you? Well I do, I like them a lot. I think they're good"
I'm choking on my coffee as I write this!
In the BBC radio version of this sketch, he adds that Crowded House have a good manager.
For alternative British comedy, you could not beat the 90s.
What's actually a bit horrifying in retrospect is that, back in the nineties, teachers like Stewart Lee's character really existed. I remember the one at our school turning up to a Manic Street Preachers gig (leather trousers and all) with three drunk and stoned fifth form girls in his car.
He transferred to a different school a few weeks later after it got back to the head master. Not fired, not arrested, just moved on to a different school. Seems unreal now.
Was rumours of a teacher at my high school being shall I say very friendly with some girls.
Our P.E teacher got the sack for nobbing a 6th former on school property. No police involved, no newspaper reports. I don't think she was fit enough..
On our six form leaving drinks in 1996 one of our teachers got drunk and told us the girls he liked, why he liked them and which ones he kept behind just to talk to, all in front of several other teachers and not in a joking way, then he added “you’ve all left now so it doesn’t matter”
Our Geography teacher stole my girlfriend. GCSE year 1999
Stewart Lee has a period accurate Eskimo face in this sketch.
Anyone who took a drama lesson at school during the eighties as a teenager will certainly recognise Stewart Lee’s character in this sketch .
Media studies in the naughties too
Stewart Lee is a genius and Lee Herring was the perfect foil.
I’ve not read any other comments. So, Kelly Brook!
What about Daniel Mays?
Yes good 👍 👏
Wow, actor Daniel Mays' first TV appearance aged 17!
Not sure if this or Grange Hill was first.
I knew I recognised that boy, but I couldn't think of the actor's name. Thanks!
1:40 Daniel Mays, unless I'm much mistaken. He was brilliant in Season 3 of Ashes to Ashes!
Yep, i thought so too! He's 42 these days!!
Yeah, I recognised him too. He played Pvt. Walker in the recent Dad's Army film and had a small role in Star Wars: Rogue One.
Just seen that!
Good spot!
Thought it was !
Somewhere in an alternate universe I bumped into Kelly Brook & she agreed to attend my party dressed as a schoolgirl!
Richard Herring was like a young Leonardo DiCaprio here
Such a brilliant series.
Hilarious and poignant both at once. These two teacher characters could have carried a whole sitcom of their own. And Fist of Fun should have been so much more popular! One of the best ever comedy series and it feels like it never got any recognition.
ha the bit when lee says goodbye to herring, he does a little shooing wave.
I show this to my children in the same way you might look at a Victorian school. They are amazed by the black boards and the children be allowed to talk in the lesson
Stew's character bears an uncanny physical resemblence to an old art teacher of mine in the late 90s/early 2000s. And yes, he went to prison for noncing a Year 10.
he was probably released under the government at the time’s new convict to comedian initiative
After I left school I found out a lot of our teachers were up to that. A bit shocked to tell the truth. Should I be? Morons in positions of power everywhere.
"Noncing a year ten" makes you sound like you are around age 13.
@@joedent3323 ok
Conversely the expression "noncing a Year 10" made me lol. Each to their own.
A very young Daniel Mays there. Awww
The lead singer of Smash Mouth really let himself go
Hey now...
KD Lang has really let himself go...
@@MrMargaretScratcher
.. Hey now, don't DREAM it's over.
Bet you didn't know I know Crowded house lyrics, but I do. I think they are really good!
1:30 That guy gets killed by Cassian Andor in Rogue 1.
It can't end like this ! I demand resolution ! I demand that Rich and Stew get back together and write and record an ending to this sketch ! NOW ! :-)
Ah, the nineties... He's going to jail!
Yeah the first one made me uncomfortable even if I found it funny
After he became a teacher, Morrissey really let himself go.
2:28 I'm sure that's Kelly Brook.
Says it in the description
Even at 15 years old they sexually exploited her!!! Disgrace. 😈
@@starskyarsky8374 She was 17. The description is incorrect.
@@darrenwilson99 What description? Dark hair and big, err, tracts of land...
“Crowded house, let’s enjoy ourselves”. Said no one ever
Nooooooo! I am a huge Crowded House Neil Finn and Liam Finn fan. Huge. But correct, might now want to bust it out at a party ever. They are good though. "Not the Girl You Think You Are." I'm gonna play that at my next party on loop.
@@tranzco1173 I saw their farewell gig in Sydney
@@kickedinthecalfbyacow7549 I am jealous. I don't say that very often. Paul Hester too, so talented.
Everyone who's anyone Lakes Crowded House😂
Just saw Daniel Mays on Big Fat Quiz 2022 and recognized him as Patrick Nuffy, the fifth form Oedipus.
excellent
Stewart Lee hasn't let himself go. Much.
Stewart Lee can do whatsoever he pleases
These days, if a teacher did any of this they'd be arrested and thrown in jail.
Did you think this was a historical documentary?
That's a very astute observation.
It's political correctness gone mad
Arrested and thrown in jail?
Yep, it's all Political Correctness gone mad these days!
richard's cahracter is so tragic that i know i'll coem away from this feeling sad
i feel fucking awful
Mr Harris looks like Harry Crane from 'Mad Men'.
Thanks for telling us that kelly brook was only 15 here. Puts a bit of a damper on it.
She was 17 according to other sources I've just checked.
Did you have a guilty stonker on then?
@@darrenwilson99 Did you have to manically search for info becaise of your guilty stonker?
You could fill a bathtub with my admiration for Kelly Brook.
Bertram LeFarge eurgh! 😂
More like an eggcup, amirite?
@@ThinLynottFan Replying to a 4 year old comment you sad sack, i bet you can't even get it up, you soft cnt, amirite?
Richard Herring clearly taking the piss out of his arch enemy Patrick Marber
Haha, I was just thinking he was the spit of Peter O'Hanraha Hanrahan.
Xwanzich prozent
With his cornish face
This should be a series
You want the moon on a stick
I once wrote a poem about Kelly Brook ... Kelly Brook, Kelly Brook, She's the girl I'd most like to take out for a delightful afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason.
That is beautiful xxx
Herring's eye, if you please.
I believe that's the place where they used to have those awful beaded tablecloths, is it not?
indytim which one was Kelly
I wrote the exact same ditty for Konnie Huq
The kid playing Patrick is still acting now. Most recent roll I remember him in was the poor guy Andor kills right at the start of Rogue One
He's been fantastic in loads of stuff, but he'll always be No-Pints Nuffy the Fifth-Form Oedipus to me.
Patrick you bad man! If only something could have been done at the time!
Education has let itself go. At least in those days you could go to school without the ceiling falling on your head.
Kelly brook as a school girl 😍
Rozzers are on the way to yours to seize your hardrive!
They should have made this a full sitcom
Kelly!!!
Yes thanks Twa? Um Alan!😁
Stews class weirdly went on to be successful. Kelly Brook and Danny Mays
Shame on the makers giving Radko Mladic a platform
Good Lord... An 18 year old Kelly Brook. 🤤
Kelly Brook and Daniel Mays
Every teacher needs to play Crowded House on the last day of school.
The tragedy is, I laughed at this, and it's now 30 years later... and I'm a teacher. And yes... I'm definitely Alan.
As is my wife, and to this day I still call her "Twatty Harris", she loves it.
Young Daniel mays
I could not have concentrated in class if a young Kelly Brook was sat next to me.
Pat Tanackered was that who it was?
Today kelly brook would think “mr kennedy has let himself go”
padm3lotus Yep.
killwill83 any good?
@@napalmslayer And also jumped TV sitcom to The Inbetweeners as Paedo Kennedy.
Wasn't that Patrick in rogue one at the start?
Ratko mladic has let himself go

A young Daniel mays there
After a cursory glance down the comments I notice no one has mentioned Kelly Brook.
pretty good bait. The comment, not Brook... Officer.
How young does Danny Mays look?!
A young Daniel Mayes.
There is absolutely zero Chance of any of the Stewart Lee / Kelly Brook scenes getting past the TV executives in 2018
NPA1001 only coz all virtually everyone whos everworked for the bbc is a pedophile
"virtually"
supergangsterish1 how silly of me i misspelled it, I meant "Literally"
I'd like to see how a comment like that stands up in court.
Or any of the program lol
And the lad from line of duty
Danny May's and Kelly Brook.
Wow
The school girl he talks to is none other than page 3 girl Kelly Brook
Danny Mays from the Firm?
T0mat0S0up Yes!
Danny Mays from Rogue One.

No, this is Danny Mays from Fist of Fun.
Man this made me so sad :(

Ooops
KellY Brook is the girl Stewart Lee talks to in class
The way she was objectified in school clearly paved the way for the rest of her career.
Bono has really let himself go.
The girl at 2:23 looks like a young Kelly Brook
It is a young Kelly Brook lol
Stewart Lee & Rich Herring gave Danny Mays and Kelly Brook their big breaks. I wonder if they're half proud of that.
Danny Mays is actually a great actor
sratus That was my joke, 'half proud'.
Old Skool Wax Ah, I'm a moron, apologies
also sally philips, sue perkins
they also invented Mitchell and Webb
Is that Kelly Brook as Suzanne?
2:30 Kelly Brook
This is Richard herring's best work
From an admittedly piss poor selection.

Why is Roland Gift playing a school teacher in this sketch? 😉
If you are working class you won't find this funny!
Wait.
That's my old school's uniform.
I don't recognise the classrooms, though.
**what's also funny is that he didn't half look like an actual teacher at my school. Mr Fell had four ear piercings on one ear and rode a motor bike.
2:22 a comedy sketch where a 27 year Stewart Lee, (playing her school teacher) invites a 15 year old Kelly Brook, (dressed in school uniform playing a pupil in his class) to a party at his house where there will be alcohol and drugs but tells her that she must wear her school unifiorm. How times have changed since 1995. Pretty sure that the BBC would not even consider broadcasting this sketch now. Maybe this sketch will eventually be used as part of "It was alright in the 90s" compilation show.
She would actually have been 17 when this was made, but I guess the point still kind of stands.
@@dislecsyk991 I don't know when this sketch was filmed but according to IMDB Episode 6 Series 2 was broadcast on 22 March 1996 and Kelly Brook was born on 23rd November 1979. That would make Kelly Brook 16 years and 4 months old at the time of broadcast so it is quite feasable that Kelly Brook was under 16 at the point of filming this sketch.
To be fair, the BBC of today probably wouldn't even have got as far as the teacher trying it on with the schoolgirl - they'd have stopped reading the script and demanded rewrites as soon as they saw the earlier bit (1:47) where the teacher tells the Muslim kid his religion is wrong and then urges him to go ahead and have a drink, promising "I won't tell your Ayatollah" :)
Is any of it really harmful, though? The whole point of the sketch appears to be that the teacher is a sleazebag, doing a variety of things that a teacher shouldn't do. It's not promoting any of it, or even suggesting that it's OK - the humour comes from the fact that it *isn't* OK. It's that very 90s brand of humour (like Alan Partridge et al) where you're not so much laughing at traditional badum-tish punchlines as laughing at the uncomfortable wrongness of the situations.
@@blatherskite3009 Yes, the BBC certainly would not even consider commisioning a script such as this today for the reasons you have highlighted in your comment. I am not saying that is right in my view I am just saying it illustrates how both the BBC and the societal tolerance of risque humour has changed - personally speaking very much for the worse. In terms of issues raised in this comedy sketch - there is an honesty in this sketch that cuts through all the bullshit and pretence and gets straight to the beating heart of who we truly are as opposed to who we think we should be or who we try to present ourselves as. Both teachers in this sketch are fundamentally being themselves and as such have not allowed their personalities to be cowed by societies expectations of them. I find myself increasingly admiring that kind of courage in an individual and as such I fully applaude the writers and BBC commisioners responsible for bringing it to our screens, (oh yes and it's funny too).
@@tonbridgeroy I don’t think Stewart Lee would want to perform the sketch anymore
Shouldn't he be serving pear cider?
What do you reckon's in that Magners stuff, anyway? I've heard some arse-clap on the grapevine about it having a small but not insignificant percentage of disappointment in it, but I don't see how they'd get an abstract concept into a pear cider.
Technically he did (as Babycham is perry/ pear cider )
Roland Gift let him self go...
Jake from Tweenies has let himself go.
gotta prefer the people here to point out Daniel Mayses than those here to objectify Kelly Brookses
Morrissey looks better now than he did then. Or was that Todd Carty? Or Jo Brand?
1:39 - no way
Lennon and McCartney, but comedy.
I would go to prison for Kelly brook
Queen Mary of Teck has really let herself go
I assume this series is considered offensive in 2020
I see far more people saying what you have than people saying it’s offensive. Stop being brainwashed.
@@jgmediting7770 exactly. I once saw a comment under a Fred Dibnah video of all things, and it made 1 excellent point. It said, "Stewart Lee's let himself go", but then followed it up with "Fred would be cancelled now, he couldn't even exist as a metaphysical concept", and I felt that was going too far.
Lots of people liking Kelly Brook in this. She was 17 when this was filmed. I'll leave that there!
when i first saw this i thought stew was playing a cool teacher but now he seems a bit creepy
