I needed special strings to get mine to a open G. (I learned that the hard way.) Are there special strings needed for an E tuning? Can the G strings make it? I'm JUST learning, all on my own with videos like this, after inheriting a 1930s dobro that was my grandfathers.
Hi Melissa, I realize just now that I missed your comment. I use 0.16 to 0.56 D’Addario EJ42. Works for me on many different tunings. But, like I said, I’m not exactly the specialist so, there might be more appropriate solutions elsewhere.
I play open D (same intervals), this video is a goldmine!
