I've had one of those before. The Akai decks were beautiful, but the only problem with themm is finding parts for them, and if anyone has them, they want enough 💰 for them to RETIRE ON!!!
I see some problems: idler needs replace, the loud winding will be fine then. Function buttons: the special construction cannot be repaired with efficacy and longevity in mind: the custom-made, once flexible rubber cones now are all hard as rock. That's why functions are hard to press, and in long term, may damage the button, the PCB and frame. I replaced them with very small pusbuttons and with a very slight, and reversible modification, now it works like a charm. The cover also can't reach its end position, that usually can be fixed by releasing only slightly the two screws holding the plate, let the whole mechanism rest in its natural position (also, an open-close cycle will help) and then tighten the screws.

Surelly hi-end quality cassette deck but the only thing i honestly don't like is the it's that i can't see the tape running
This Deck came with an optional window door well, so if you wanted to see the tape running you could.
Not really high end, but it s up there with the above average
That would be especially annoying if you’re recording a tape, since you can’t see how much is remaining.
@sh0t734 It is most definitely high-end. This deck sold for $1500 in 1981. That’s $5,120 today. 20hz-21khz frequency response and wow & flutter .028%.

А вот этот AKAI - песня! Дизайн просто улёт. Но на нажатие кнопок плохо срабатывает.
