The length extra for you. However, I do not have the speed.
I first wondered why the wave tracks are so short. Then it was clear to me that these lead more directly, like a straight line to the goal.

However, this will not be enough. The initial angle would still be interesting and also the friction. Unfortunately, I do not have the possibility to transfer this into real values.

Good bit of fun C4D. I thought it was going to be pink - was hoping for a long airbourne flight. It did fly but I guess the slight rise and then hitting the track afterwards slowed it. Wife picked the right colour "Yellow" 🤣😂😉😊 👍
For completeness to this nice demo, I would have also included a linear track from top to bottom.

Orange first and red after. The sooner they accelerate the faster they will go, as long they keep accelerating,m what is not what happened to the blue ball.....Great video !!!! ♥♥♥
Wow, I'm using this videos in my classes next year.
Those on the wavy tracks are going to be the slowest. The blue one is going to be slow too because once it reaches the bottom it will stop accelerating. Red and orange are going to be the fastest, but you need to apply some calculus to figure out exactly which one will be the first.
The backward spin of the balls at the end is really cool!
the first one was like it was about to fall straight but the second one was really the perfect slide.
Yellow. Best compromise between fast initial acceleration, minimal angular change and track length.

One thing I'm curious about here is how long is each track? If you laid them out flat I mean
Different, of course. 1 is the longest.
I was not expecting the balls to come off of the track. I assumed they were designed to allow the balls to travel as fast as they can without leaving the track, so I chose the green one. It seemed to have a nice combination of high acceleration drops plus leverage inducing horizontals. I think the bouncing hurt it a lot and, also, the green track appears to be a good bit longer in length.

What assumptions are made regarding energy losses? Do the balls lose energy due to friction or due to vibrations when they hit the tracks?
It is safe to assume the balls will lose energy to friction in the same way as any object sliding on a surface. The friction coefficient will be lower but the principle is the same.
@@lucianene7741 yeah, I was asking whether that is taken into account in the simulation. I think at least the energy of the balls hitting the track after jumping into the air is lost, since to conserve this energy they should either bounce, or suddendly increase their horizontal speed after hitting the track

Yes, you are absolutely right.
Blue won't bounce this time, but it DOES have further to go and has to run a distance with almost 0 acceleration, so still not Blue. Yellow will have more initial acceleration than Red, so it should make it there first this time (between the two of them). Pink is going to be losing too much acceleration on the plateaus, so it'll probably be last. Green will probably have about the same net acceleration all told as Red, so it should get there about the same time. (Green will have more air time than any of them, though). I'm saying Yellow again.
Edit: Well I was wrong about how close Green would be to Red and it's air time, but I got most everything else right.
You took the lip out of the bottom of the 2nd track this time, that was the only reason it didn’t win the first one, so it winning this one was a foregone conclusion

Yellow has less back half of ball traction backward than Red during spinning fall down to the slope, so Yellow fastest. My estimate got it. Other balls could not have accelerated spin due to bouncing.

in first half ,blue must have the highest speed🤔🤔

Potential energie is all the same, so the friction of the track and air wil increase exponential by increasing the speed. So lets say you start to fast in the first 2 seconds, and you lose to much energy during the rest of de descendants because the higher friction wants to slow you down also exponentional. But starting to slow and you will gain only speed in the end wich makes a low average speed. In other words, je want olso want to profit from moving faster in the beginning to increase your average speed.
that isnt a real brachistochrone curve, a brachistochrone curve goes under the ending point
