David what you said is so true. i feel in love with him when i was 10 i am now 64. i flew out to vegas 2x to see him and he was sick and cancel shows and then never appered again. i have been going to the Dean Martin Festival in Steubenville, Ohio for over 23 yrs.. you are so so lucky to have meet him. I have been to the restaurant in LA but he was already passed but i did speak to staff that knew him well and they told us storied. GOd Bless and keep on listening to best music ever.
Had the same experience with Frank Sinatra in 1983 at the Atlantic city Resorts lounge. He was there to see his good friend Sam Butera perform in the lounge of all places. He went to every table to say hello and couldn’t be nicer. The Atlantic city police preceded him and his bodyguards and entourage.

I’ll never forget my wife saying as we sat at our table, you’re not going to believe this he’s HERE. Who? Dean Martin. What???? Where. Over there. I almost fainted. I asked the waitress if he was approachable and she said definitely he’s the nicest guy. And he was. The rest I told you. I embarrassed myself to where people around who could hear he were laughing. I didn’t care. Shaking the hand of a legend. And he just sat there eating coconut cake!!! The most exciting thing tgst ever happened to me!!

He was so smooth and debonair! He always seemed like he didn’t have a care in the world 🌎. Of course, it’s not true but he gave that devil may care attitude that was very appealing. The only other singer as smooth and elegant as him was Engelbert who my mother adored. My father loved Dean. What an incredible career he had! He was in Movies and Westerns even and had his own TV show and made records, too. RIP Dean Martin 💐
