You can just tell Doechii is special. The unintentional way in which things line up and sync up in her art is crazy, she is destined to be where she is. This interview was phenomenal and it’s reflective in how I listen to music. I’ve always wanted to talk to artists about their work the way you’ve done Cole. This album needed this breakdown and conversation. Doechii is one of the rare ones to be doing it cause it’s part of who she is, and not because she has to. I’m so excited to see her trajectory. Thank you Doechii, thank you Cole! More of this please for the creative geniuses that are overlooked in the industry!
The 'woo ha' breakdown is such a crazy musical inception moment. And I love 'Fireflies' because it sounds so otherworldly. I understand her critiques but man I'm glad Moosa pushed for it lol.
Fantastic interview. That Busta Rhymes section blew my mind and I 100% agree that it's so much better that it wasn't intentional. I've also been obsessed with this album and this is the kind of press artists like her deserve. Can't wait for more of these interviews, you did great.
Please more interviews in this format! 🙏🏾 we don’t get enough interviews with artist dissecting line by line and getting into how they visualize their process. This helped me understand a few things myself.
It’s like everything is falling in place in ways Doechii hasn’t even realized yet, the fact there are so many ironical meanings in her art that she unintentionally put in her projects is like God saying this forever has been your true destiny! This is Truly HISTORY being made. This interview hit totally different and really reveals the point in being the best you can be for yourself as well to encourage the world to be its best! You go gurr you are a staple in this life, you speak to so many individuals in empowering ways, the world absolutely needs more of you!
I've experienced this first-hand in my own writing. That prophetic sense of "something", possibly divine, of when you put a concept and experience into words and then it reveals deeper layers over time. Recontextualizing itself. It's a profound experience. A spiritual experience. It's why I recommend to everyone to try and create art. It doesn't have to be good art or liked by other people. It can be a great tool to explore yourself, your perspective of the world, and your relationship with faith. Just through the process of *doing the thing*.
This feels soooo refreshing thank you so much for creating it Doechii and dissect. Such a rich passionate musical conversation, this stuff is what gives me energy and inspiration in life
I got to say it, sis skin is literally freaking glowing off my screen. She looks so vibrant and smooth and flawless complexion. She is absolutely stunning
Dis is my dream format....& da fact it's done with a obvious future legend.....Doechii Da Don Doechii Supreme....🎯🎯🎯🎯...thank you for this...& yeah we want more future legends & ones already cemented.....LEGENDARY....🙌🏽🙌🏽💪🏽💪🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
This interview was phenomenal! It’s my first time knowing about him and he did his homework and really took me by surprise. Like this just earned a subscribe from me ♥️
I appreciate this genuine interest and passion for music and art from both you and Doechii. Excited for the both of you moving forward. Truly intelligent, purposeful and creative perspectives from both parties. Wishing you both the best.
This is just a good example of good art and NATURAL creativity. I think it’s good that he reaches sometimes because it proves a point or draws a connection that is sometimes unintentionally made. This is so nice to see the moment an artist gets to connect with a serious fan of music. I’d be so grateful to obsess like this.
I just subscribed based off this interview with Doechii! Thank you for focusing on and showcasing the art and magic of Doechii especially as a dark skinned black woman, treating her with respect and care and realizing that black woman are not a monolith, bc a lot of times they only promote and showcase negative stereotypes... This was absolutely refreshing to watch 🤎 Wonderful interview!
the evolution from black girl memoir her singing ''I could be anything'' to boom bap ''I'm everything'' sends chills down my spine fI eel so lucky to see doechii in a few days and hear this album in its full glory, she's one for the books ! also thanks for this dissect
this was cool! I was a bit skeptical about having the artist explain their art, but I feel like this was a great balance of feeling satisfied as a fan to know what she was thinking, but at the same time there’s plenty left up to the imagination. makes me want to go listen to the album again
This is so beautiful and profound, you can even see her blush with some of these questions, i just found your channel because i've been following her and listening to the project on repeat, and I've been wanting to listen to her talk about the lyrics more, and you were so genuine and thoughtful with her art, I have no doubts she felt seen and prouddd, it's so beautiful
ABNH my fav project of the year! Absolutely loved this conversation, we need more of these type of convos in R.A.P!!! Keeping it about the ART 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 Oh and fireflies is beautiful 🥹
this is an important moment in hip hop history, doechii singlehandedly shifted how dominant women can become as lyricists. haven’t seen a shift like this since nicki minaj on monster.
Absolutely amazing interview from top to bottom!! Doechii’s commitment to intention, attention, and detail is so inspiring. It’s a kind of fearlessness that’s so refreshing to see🐊
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS INTERVIEW!! On another note if she can release the second half of Fireflies with Florida Water, and Sundays Best I will be in heaven✨✨
This was an excellent interview, and it's really cool to make a lot of the same connections, like Bjork's Vespertine on that second half of Firefly. And the Busta Rhymes and "Woo hah" breakdown was incredible. She's so talented, so smart, and this mixtape is her best work yet.
I thought the jump cables line was in reference to playing jump rope. Like a cable, we jump hoes. She makes them jump. So cool how we can all hear the same art and come away with something different:)
I had the same thought! I also caught the jump cables with a car but I also thought it was jump rope and she was playing a game with these hoes and stepping on necks while fighting 😭😭
Love this so much. Your work is on point and Doechii (what a talented beautiful queen she is) comes across so originally. Best interview i have seen in a loooooong time. Appreciate your work. 3:09
now THIS is the interview Doechii and this project deserves. talking about the stuff that really matters which is the art!
Yup
Exactly
I love that they're actually talking about the project
SAME OMFG!! That’s interview SHOULD BE! Not a bunch of garbage trying to stir up drama and bullshit!
Damn!

😃 holy cliff notes. a dissect VIDEO...? with an artist who actually has something to say?!! 😁let's GO!
LETS GOOOO
this is what the Genius videos wished they were
Exactly!

OMG! Same I just love that! Sometimes the best thing come out unintentionally!!
So dope
Legendary video! This one will be so special in 5-10 years
every time she said “i’m rambling” i laughed bc like girl don’t you know that we loooove to hear you taaaaalk 😌
Please more interviews in this format! 🙏🏾 we don’t get enough interviews with artist dissecting line by line and getting into how they visualize their process. This helped me understand a few things myself.

This is hip hop journalism! 👏
!!!!!
"keep me from discrepancies that hold me from my light" is such a beautiful line
She went through so many styles it seems like a mixtape, but sequenced like an album. Love it, lover her, favourite new artist.
Not surprised at all that Cole is an incredibly talented interviewer! So much passion oozing from both of these people, this was great.
This feels soooo refreshing thank you so much for creating it Doechii and dissect. Such a rich passionate musical conversation, this stuff is what gives me energy and inspiration in life
