Totally agree. That Mod 3 is hard to beat for $300. I bought 2 of them and 5 mags for each. These are my SHTF stash guns in ammo can's with extra ammo. If I need to arm a couple people in the neighborhood in case of WROL...hand them a can and go to work.
It’ll also fit the gen 1 holster close enough to function. Trigger guard is the main difference. Won’t fit the XD-E holster worth a crap, although they all pop into the old xd9 unit just fine 😂 So if you get one of these and you have a first generation holster… No need to light your hair on fire and go screaming down the street trying to find one just for the mod 3 right off the bat.
Thanks for the review. I just picked up a Mod 3 and I like it. As to the grip safety that's fine too as when reholstering in IWB holsters in particular, you can avoid anything catching the trigger by starting the gun in the holster and finishing pushing it in with your thumb. If something (clothing etc. ) were to catch your trigger, where the grip safety isn't depressed, it won't fire.
Good and accurate comparison, I had the same feelings with my XD MOD3 , for some reason Springfield was not on my radar until the echelon that’s when I found out about the XD and realized it’s made by HS produkt. Just comparing the mag release button and mechanism it’s probably the most robust and reliable design out of any handgun. What they failed in was marketing. Mod2 mod3 OSP XDM they sound confusing to a new buyer. They should have simplified the XD design to a sub compact, compact and full size long slide in 9 10 45 . They would have had 9 produkts in the lineup and having that similar overall look like Glock would have helped marketing. It’s kinda like Apple products as well everything looks the same just different sizes from the iPhone to iPad.
Thanks for the work first and foremost I have owned neither. However if I had both on the radar, I’d most likely pick the one that had a steady track record and is not a rehashed semi failure.
Yeah I’m really going to pray about where to go in the new year because RUclips is coming down so hard on gun channels yesterday alone I don’t know why they do it but about once a week I will just randomly lose two or 300 subscribers. I’m not sure if they are unsubscribing people without their knowledge but it’s hard to continue to keep pushing as hard as I am just to allow them to take everything away that I worked hard for I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s really becoming a source of stress for me.
They don’t release as much new stuff as Sig but they do release a lot of new stuff so I’m sure it won’t be long. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Thw triggers on these striker fired guns are the very reason why I don't carry one. I carry a 1911 and have for years so I guess I am ruined, biased or both. I am hesitantly excited about the new xd though. Im wanting a inexpensive but reliable stiker fired pistol to keep in a lock box in my pickup.
XD mod 3 wins! Comes with optic cut, built like a tank, soft shooting, easier take down, ambi mag release out the box. Better trigger. SD9 is light and snappy and no optic cut. Easy decision.I have both.
No shame in having an honest opinion, brother. I’ve been shooting Springfields for about eight years now, couldn’t be happier. At least for me, they have the most natural point and shootability of any of the modern pistols. Like that thing everybody gripes about Glock… Sometimes it really is just about grip angle. It works on these things.
Springfield has moved past the XD line, which originally was an M&P competitor. S&W still has to protect their M&P line from their "budget" line, Springfield doesn't have to worry about that with the Echelon line. So they can deliver the MOD3 for $299, which used to be a $400-500 pistol, with the same features. S&W can't do that, they still need you to buy M&Ps.
They’re both great budget options in my opinion. I’ve been thinking of picking up a mod 3 Xd. The only thing I don’t like about the Xd is the grip safety.
I’m not a fan myself but slap a Houge grip on it or electrical tape it. I’ve also saw people pin it by drilling through it and driving a roll pin in it the keep it closed at the time. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already

Yeah well I buy my on guns and I’m not bias because the manufacturer pays me to be. Look in the comments you are the only one who disagrees with me about the trigger. I have a SW 2.0 10mm, like the trigger compared to the hinge design, I also have a first gen XD-9 that is a decent little shooter. I would have to shoot both to determine which I would choose. Probably would pick the XD because it is optics ready, and I have tons of XD mags.
@@GSquaredTactical My HK VP9BL has a crap trigger also, you can't feel the reset.
