- Conor McGregor faces paying the majority of Nikita Hand’s legal costs after a high court jury upheld hand’s civil claim she was raped by the fighter in a Dublin hotel.
So how much money will McGregor and hand have to fork up?
And what is the situation for James Lawrence's fees after the jury found he had not assaulted her in the beacon hotel?
Frank Greaney (Newstalk’s Courts Correspondent) joins Pat Kenny to discuss the details.

Conor McGregor has been ordered to pay Nikita Hand’s legal costs arising from her successful lawsuit against him.
However, she wasn’t awarded the highest level of costs against him, which is what was she was looking for.
After the DPP decided not to pursue a criminal prosecution against Mr McGregor on the back of Ms Hand’s allegation that he raped her in the Beacon Hotel, Ms Hand decided to sue him for damages.
After 12 days at trial, she won her case against him; but lost her case against his friend, James Lawrence, whom she had also accused of raping her after Mr McGregor left the hotel.
Today, Ms Hand applied for an order directing McGregor to pay the entire legal bill, even the costs incurred as part of her unsuccessful legal action against Mr Lawrence.
Mr McGregor’s barrister found it remarkable that she was looking for his client to pay costs towards a case she lost.
He said she should never have brought a case against Mr Lawrence if she believed he was lying about having sex with her, as claimed in her own evidence at trial.
In the end, the judge didn’t direct McGregor to pay the full legal bill.
He has directed him to pay her costs at the ordinary level, as opposed to the higher level she sought.
No order for costs was made against Mr Lawrence, which means both he and Ms Hand will have to pay their own legal bills in relation to her unsuccessful action against him.
During the civil jury trial, Ms Hand described how Mr McGregor pinned her on a bed in the penthouse suite of the Beacon Hotel almost six years ago to the day.
She said he got her in a chokehold and raped her.

It's shocking but the thing is they can't get past the medical evidence. They know the woman is lying ,it's obvious and all witnesses and the cctv backs up Mcgregor but her bruising looked bad and the docs testimony and let's face it the jury where appalled by Mcgregor when he took the stand. They where actually shocked by him calling the women lovely ladies. A jury of his peers 🤔. I'm surprised they where so shocked by this.
The criminal courts never said they had no evidence. The dpp didn't bring the case to court. Get your facts right before you comment

@@joelyons886 The judge actually covered that yesterday. "This was a “most singular and peculiar” case and the defence of Mr McGregor relied on what Mr Lawrence said, the judge said.
Both men had filed a joint defence and were “in lock step” with each other and the jury finding that Mr Lawrence had not assaulted Ms Hand must have arisen because the jury did not believe Mr Lawrence’s claim he had consensual s3x with Ms Hand after Mr McGregor left the hotel, he said.
It is difficult to see how there could be any separate legal costs incurred by Mr Lawrence, he said.". Lawrence PUT HIMSELF in this situation by going to the guards and claiming he had that activity with Hand.
A sign of our times, just pay the woman what she wants, dont ask awkward questions...
