I really love how the first frame when the kick happens (3:20), his fingers on the hand above his leg stretches FULLY like a fan, before curling back. I'm so happy you dabble into video games too and actually present them in your channel. I'll make sure to watch them if you decide to make more. Maybe get into KOFXIII? I have so many questions about how they make those!
Would be interesting too, I read that, much like Guilty Gear, they used 3D models as a base for their spritework. I think Guilty Gear took the step to 3d Perfectly!
Glad you covered such an iconic fighting game! Definitely has some of the best pixel animation ever! If we're already on the topic of fighting games, one of the newer ones - Guilty Gear still animates their characters frame by frame in 3D (even the cloth!) and not via motion capture, like some other studios. So it still gives that feeling of stuff not always being on model and the animation being handcrafted!
STREET FIGHTER YEAH Would love to see some other coverage of fighting game animations. Arc Sys stuff is probably a favorite for people to cover, but I think Skullgirls has the best animation I've seen in any fighting game. Could be more fun to analyze a couple moves from there.
The sense of movement and weight in 3S animation makes it feel so much more impactful and solid than the 3D modeled sequels they've done since. Those have just too many frames that don't do anything except "mAkE iT SmOoTh" (really it just makes them feel sluggish and slow compared to how crisp and fast 3S looks and feels). Compare the crouching roundhouse animation in 3S with SF4 or 5's and you'll see what I mean.
Street Fighter has and will always look better with 2D sprites imo. Something about transferring all the moves and characters to 3D just always looked a bit janky to me. And I never understood why they slowed every title after 3S down so much. It lost it's frantic, fluid pace. Sure SF is still a big title but it's been banking on its name alone for so long now. Maybe I'm just jaded but I still can't buy into all the hype surrounding 6 it just seems so slow...and ugly. Why is every character so ugly...😑
Personally I think street fighter 6 is looking pretty good, would be interesting to do a deep dive on that. Although very fluid 60 fps animation can get away with a lot more " janky" frames
The moves have like 5x as many "frames" in the 3D games but they're just the models rotating or something instead of actually thoughtfully made keyframes, so the newer games just have this sluggish feel because every move has to have a billion frames. Also, everyone's face is so lumpy and misshapen in SF4 and 5 because they dropped off on the art direction in a major way. They need to go back to the more anime-esque look (I've given up on them ever returning to superior sprite-based graphics in their games).
SF3 has so much beautiful animation, you could make a seperate AAA channel for just breaking down every move!!
Q's second super is satisfying on the same level for me.

Yes, guilty gear is definitely interesting! Also maybe street fighter 6 too, just to see how the new game does it!

Unfortunately this move doesn't look nearly as cool in sf6...
Going from sprites to 3D models was the biggest mistake Capcom ever made with this series.
Nah i dont think so 3d models are unique and ferl good in their on way @@ShinGallon
i dont know why sf games today are just so sluggish (4,5,6) 3 has the best animation
6 has some great animation no doubt, but 3 will always be the best imo
Boring
