As a Bok fan you guys always produce a great show; great coverage of multiple countries & their players & showing them respect & giving recognition; easily NZ’s most watchable rugby podcast. Also solid realistic reviews of the mighty ABs!
As a Kiwi and of course AB fan, I feel the same when watching the Boks Office show. Such an easy watch because... 1. They are an experienced panel who know what they're talking about. 2. They give credit where credits due, no matter where the team or player comes from. 3. They display good humor and banter. Good yarns! 👌
Damian De Allende is one of the most underrated players ever. For me South Africa’s player of the tournament in 2019, constantly performs, best defensive back, maybe ever. Gets over the gainline every single time.
Its so good to hear him getting mentioned. He gets a lot of stick for crashing the ball and not spreading it enough but he does everything so well and to the tee of the coach. Can't ask for more. And there's where the AB's are missing Nonu who always attracted 2 defenders to provide space in the wider channels. Big physical and balanced 12 is worth gold.
@@JJ-li3lk It's also not every contact situation all year, his defense has not been rock solid and at least one game this year he had an absolute shocker. He's a great player, this year is not it. I don't think it is for Eben either, despite his nomination.
I feel pretty behind the curve now with what you guys have proposed for De Allende but i have been beating the drum that there's nobody across the other teams that I'd pick ahead of De Allende. He's an absolute work horse and the PTSD in our midfield.
@@rileyfreeman9726basically PSDT is player of the year not this hogwash they’re saying about De Allende. Besides that 1 run through midfield he was not doing much the entire game besides putting in a few tackles.
Bok fan here...I have been very impressed with Mark Tele'a. He seems very understated, but SO slippery, and a subtle but really effective step. I always think to myself when watching him play..."How did the heck did he get through there?"
Lakai had an impressive shift and should start the next game. Would like to see Love get some game time. This squad looks impressive, and the additions next year will be interesting. I do feel our midfield with Reiko doesn't offer a lot in terms of attack. I hope Razor looks at this next year.
Love Lakai been hoping to see him for years. But I think what we lack in the loose forwards is a real battering ram. Imagine the likes of Ethan Blackadder smashing the opposing side drawing in 2-3 defenders, which lets loose Ardie and Sititi
@tarutso Blackadder is a beast, but the injuries are keeping him back, and this affects the team/squad. His work rate is next level, and the number of times just getting off the deck for the next job is impressive. 2025 will be interesting to watch. Iose, Kirifi, Lio-Willie, and Sotutu will want to repeat what they did this year.
🇮🇪 fan. Still think razors ABs team is doing better things than the Foster team of the last 4years, despite the win rate. Feels more dangerous and like they are not far off hitting their straps in attack. Right up there with SA in lineout defence too. France are no mugs, expect they'll win the 6nations this year without too much difficulty. Also a team that are transitioning and getting better with alot of young talent.
De Allende has never got his flowers (like a M.O.M or much convo by the pundits) but at least the brain trust know who the first choice no 12 is. Thanks for giving him the recognition as possibly being the best center (12 or 13) in the world. Subjective but it may get some notice by the SA public and writers. DDA is a beast!
By a mile I'd say. If he doesn't impact attack you can just about bet he'll do something on defence. Something Jordie and Reiko could learn a thing or 2 about. Our mod field is disapointing atm. 😢
As a bok fan Roigard is someone exceptional for the future of AB rugby; I suspect he’ll be around, giving the bokkies a hard time, for MANY years to come!
Concur. Also a bok fan but saw him come on as sub when we were about to best the ABs 37 - nil. He ran through our entire side to score their consolation try. Cant understood Razor piicking Cortez Rstican over him. Ratican is too slow to clear the ball from the base of the scrum. But not as slow as slow as Herschelle Jantjies who was frequently caught in possession on Test and provincial level and in URC yet Dobson keeps picking him first choice scrummie. What do the coaches see that we don't see. A kak player is that obvious and stands out a mile
Damian de Allende is the main reason why South Africa has won back to back RWC titles. He is the best midfielder in the world by a decent margin. If he plays, the Springboks dominate the opposition.
As a South African I disagree. Give that props to the likes of Pieter-Steph. Besides that 1 run De Allende did through England he was very quiet. Pieter-Steph on the other hand has been enormous the entire year. I’m surprised such a topic is even brought up with De Allende being mentioned. Rather give Pieter-Steph, or Kobe or Etzebeth that accolade.
Len Ikitau, Bundee Aki, Jordie Barret, and Ollie Lawrence are just as good. He was not the main reason for all their one point wins in the knock out phase, S.A were dam lucky
@@tyl3rb-fw6eeI think what we are saying is that while de Allende might not make rib crunching tackles or runs but at the break down, during our defensive periods that man has been extremely solid. All the grunt work that allows the others to shine is what he does. Plus he is extremely clean. Like he concedes so few penalties if any. And for the amount of work he does it extraordinary
1) Cam Roigard shouldn't have been subbed. 2) Vaa'i should have held on to the ball that led to a French try. 3) Reiko should have passed the ball when NZ had an overlap instead of cutting back in. 4) Hindsight is 20/20.
Nope cannot agree with what you said about Vaii and not passing that ball. He simply gave a bad pass which he normally wouldn't as he's easily the ABs most skilled tight forward. He passes that to Jordan and it's a try to NZ, so why would you not want him to pass it?
@mthunziphakathi4215 I take back my comment actually. You are right, having just watched the replay, Vaai was in no position to pass that ball as he had two guys tackling him and didn't have his arms free as I initially thought he had.
The difference in the All Blacks now is we see more flair from the forwards then the backs, Roigard, DMac ,Caleb and Will excluded. The rest is just their...maybe its time to look to more faster wings and more natural 12 and 13...eve
Agreed. Unfortunately I reckon the Jordie+Rieko combo just isn't paying enough dividends. They just don't seem as powerful or as threatening when compared with other top tier centres like: De Allende, Kriel, Ringrose, Aki (when in form like in RWC23), France's Dante, England's Ollie Lawrence, just to name a few. While Rieko has electric feet no doubt but he seems to consistently soft on contact which makes him highly vulnerable to turnovers at top tier level. I can't remember the last time Jordie actually busted through a defensive line or create potent attacking opportunities. I'd love to see Proctor be given more chances. My hunch is he'll start this weekend vs Italy
Jordie shouldn't be there at all if they're not going to use his big boot. Reiko hasn't been competative for years, never really succeeded as anything but wing(despite playing as a wing with 13 on his back and scoring tries not distributing).
Razor just seems to think reiko= barrett are the answer- then he sticks havill or alb in there🤔 Love to see clarke- aj lam play midfield against Italy- think proctor not there😗 Has reiko still got pace go back to wing now😗? Best combo jordan& clarke-- and get the ball out wide = way wallabies are doing now💪 Final thought theres players in squad who could give razor more attacking edge back line😎
Love your show!! Always unbiased excellent analysis!! Thx for the love for DDA!!! Unsung hero and absolute beast at 12!! Hot steppers gotta be Chezzy, KLA, Grant Williams, Damian Willemse - on the SA front!! And check out the step on Davit NINIASHVILI!!! Shane Williams back in the day was also insane!!
Saffa. The France vs AB's game was a fantastic high octane affair. Me thinks it was a really good game. Both teams played great rugby. Someone had to lose.
Isn't it obvious? Sorry I must be missing something. I just can not recall a game when Jordy and Reiko have combined so well that everyone was talking about what an great impact they have had. Compare this to Len Ikitua and Joseph Sauili against England last week
Reiko should be a wing. Proctor at 13 next year. I think super rugby will be Riley Higgins, Josh Jacomb and Kini Naholo time to shine and get a black jersey opportunity
I was shocked when ABs went for the 3 points instead of the line out at the end. I also think the ABs were robbed at the scrums, they were not rewarded for their dominance as were the Boks against England
Robbed is such a word. In every match, the team who lost have their supp shouting about robbing. It's new for the SH nations. You are so used to win eveytime.
Let’s go ABs, the France game was red hot. Some northerners are calling it game of the year. We could have won it but don’t lose any sleep over this one. It was a ripper of a game.
The All Blacks need to give Quin Tupea the inside centre jersey, also look at Billy Procter and the youngster Riley Higgins...Jordie Barret is not the answer, Leicester Fainga'anuka at outside center and Rieko back to wing. The All Black wings are not fast either, wings need to be fast... Speed creates havoc in defence...prime example is that young French wing,Bok wings etc...
Sevu Reece has proved time and time again, he shouldn’t be an All Black. His decision making just gets worse. His offside penalty gave France a try. His lack of fitness and speed gave France the WIN.
@@SteveWarleedead chat, Libboks open field play is brilliant and fassie is serious under the high ball and is a genuine running threat. Absolutely moronic take
Don't write England off just yet. They have had three hard games and are not off the mark by much. They will improve and if they click they will be good.
I think England are looking really good and noone should be writing them off - it's just fine margins. It's all going to click at some point, I reckon and they'll be a menace.
Bill Beaumont must be the player of the year, he has been brilliant by changing the rules to the disadvantage of some teams. He payed it excellent. His only criticism is his inability to convert the results he wanted.
What I don’t understand that when you go for the corner. It really doesn’t even matter if you don’t score if you have a positive attitude because it’s more pressure and position.😮
We need to understand that quality opposition like France don't care about your attitude, they are there to make it as hard as possible for you to get over the line. The 3 points was an unchallenged opportunity to get in a better position to win the game.
Correct. With only 6 mins left field position is just as important. I'd have opted for the kick if 10 mins+ was remaining, but with only 6 mins France were always going to kick deep from the restart and then just pin the ABs in their half.
@@jamesblewman If the AB's can't get into the french half during 5 minutes of rugby, then that is a big problem. But they did, with possession, but blew it when Rieko shelled a pass. The tactic was sound, the execution wasn't.
Bok fan here. If I supported the AB's I'd want this back line. 9. Roigard 10. Barrett 11. Rieko 12. ALB 13. Proctor 14. Telea 15. Jordan Rieko had an almost 100% strike rate on the wing. No idea who's idea it was to try and convert him to 13. He's a specialist 11 so play him at 11.
@@Richie-o1t Clarke is great don't get me wrong but I feel Rieko beats Clarke for pace and is a bit more creative. Remember, the whole reason Rieko was moved to 13 was because Telea and Clarke were both at the blues as well and they wanted all 3 on the park at the same time. Super rugby is not test rugby though, the margins are a lot smaller and there are less room for mistakes. Rieko gets exposed on defense at 13 at international level which doesn't happen as often at franchise level. I believe this move has hampered rieko's development at wing to benefit the franchise which is crazy to me. Give him minutes on the wing and we'll see the rieko of old.
@@Richie-o1t Clarke is an ok player but has never played as well as Reiko has on the wing. The experiment with him & Jordie at centre has to stop. As centres the pair just fade into the background
The team try the All Blacks got was awesome it was a true Ab try. Yes it was great but it should be expected by the team to be able to do this regularly
It was a neck roll and not a croc roll. It was a fairly standard penalty. You're not allowed to clean by having your arm around someone's head/neck. The players know this
@@jamesblewman I hate DEI as anyone else but DEI as nothing to do in this context, maybe you meant woke. If you meant DEI I don't see the relevance in regards to the call.
ABs one great weakness are the consistent slow starts, even that 10min after half time lacks the intensity where the opposition is under pressure. The benchmark should be the 2023 test vs SAF in Auckland - 15min of black chaos.
BEST guest you have ever had lads. The insight without the 'shackles' of future career prospects was insightful, bold, and respectful. Kudos team. Question -Does anyone konw the guidleines around the new escorting/obstruction interpretation clearly? Has it been codified/decodified - written/explained/to the extent where you can speak to it? What are the parameters the players are attmpting to react to?
Remember last year when we were all critical about teams not playing running rugby and the amount of ball in play time? Seems like we've backflipped on that attitude and adopted a more defensive and reactive game plan. What happened to our killer instinct and having a go? We are playing scared rugby.
Perfectly said. We do not play with confidence and intent anymore. We used to score as many tries as we could. we used to completely take the game away from the opposition.
The whole more ball in play time = better is not true. Look at NFL, 3 hour game with like 25 min ball in play….very popular sport wouldn’t you say? Don’t want it to become like league…we know that is a far less popular sport: how many people watch the league World Cup compared to our World Cup?
@@dcs4880 If NFL was a good sport it would be a global sport. It's just hyped by marketing and image which makes it popular. Like league. What I mean is teams are more likely to go for penalties now instead of try's as the rules dictate more penalties. So teams tend to try to draw penalties from the opposition, through pick and go or mauls, instead of running the ball. Which will get you points but as we saw on the weekend not enough to win. Try's are king.
🇿🇦. Again the France vs AB's game was top class. Our game against England was a continuous struggle with a few moments of absolute brilliance. The amount of penalties that went against us was soul destroying. More than once we had one-after-the-other.
As an SA supporter I'm really exited with the Hemisphere teams, ABs are looking great, I just think they need time, and Ausies are in their own rhythm. Great to see. North are bitter at the moment.
hahahahahahahahahahaha - you should be the best at your national sport - not the national sport in England France or Ireland, so shows how relatively poor the AB, Saffa are at their national sport, - thats the bitterness of the Saffas -
Yeah me too - love that the Aussies are starting to spark up again too. Hopefully we can keep it going and continue to annoy the NH pundits, who clearly hate our teams.
@JohnDowning-j7j before Kriel got his shot, DDA was dominating with Lukhanyo Am who was the best 13 in the world before his injury. DDA been the top 12 since 2019 already imo
On the wallabies. Since the Campo comments I’d love to hear a current player talk about Joe. Not to have any confrontations but I’d just love to hear a player defend him and his coaching - haven’t seen anyone from inside the camp rebuttal Campo. What comes to mind is Ardie when Foz’s job was on the linen
De Allende has been in the team for what feels like forever, what 10-12 yrs. you almost take it for granted. I can’t think of youngster as a future replacement post 2027. Perhaps Sacha FN at 12, leave Manie at 10.
England look very promising. Their back row are outstanding, and all under 26, I think. Mitchell and Smith at 9 and 10 are brilliant, and again, very young, as are their back 3. The most exciting part are the youngsters coming through that haven't even made their debuts yet, especially at prop and flanker. They'll be in the top 3 soon, I guarantee it.
I agree about the England youngsters coming through but with the World Rankings, Eng may get to be in the Top 3 but the Rankings as a whole is all a bit of a 'farce' in that the SH Teams potentially slide down the table via results in the Six Nations when the SH Teams are not playing or participating. Similarly when the SH are participating in the Rugby Championship & the NH Teams are having a break & I don't know if you get more points for an Away win compared to a Home win etc if you were playing the same opposition getting the same result/score in the other country. And then the NH Teams & especially the Home Nations would have more Home games typically in the same Stadium each year i.e. Twickenham, Cardiff, Aviva & Murrayfield whereas I doubt that none of SA, NZ, Aus or Arg have played consecutive tests at the same ground this year as they usually take the various games around their countries. In the Autumn Internationals, the Home Nations get to be in Camp, stay in the same hotel & play at the same ground for 5-6 weeks whereas the SH Teams sometimes only have a 6 day turn around from one game to the other which obviously includes, travel, different hotels, different training facilities, sometimes a different language etc. Are those difficulties taken into account hence why I find that the rankings are more of a discussion point.
@lovemysport7902 Yeah I agree. However, what I mean by top 3 isn't necessarily based on world rankings, just more like who performs better. For example, I would say that based on performance, it would be ranked SA, NZ, France, Ireland, Argentina, which is quite far off the actual rankings.
Fellas I wondered if you could cover off from your point of view what Reiko has given the ABs playing centre this year and where you see him best fitting in moving forward.. the Ireland game I felt people unfairly criticised his game but I feel that a lot of what he did in that game (good D, tough carries, good quick hands to give the outsides space) is what we used to (and still do) praise Conrad smith for. Do you think the criticism of Reiko at 13 is justified?
The box kick problems, Dupont had a few excellent bailout options. After the ref's first warning, he would prioritise getting the ball out immediately, and then just play what was in front of him. One option he took was to hammer the ball 50m down the centre, another time he zig zagged open side, attracted the defence and linked up with a back rower straightening. Basically, if the 5 second countdown was live, he would play what was in front of him. Very similar to what Dupont was doing around rucks, analysing the defence, then manipulating whatever the defence were offering, always to advantage. Not quite a masterclass performance, but he was the MVP of the game, despite Roigard's heroics.
I appreciate being a Ref is a tough job because of the speed of the game, some of the Laws etc & certainly us Couch Critics have a different view of the game due to the various camera angles, zooms, slow mos etc than what the Ref has in real time, sometimes from the other side of the scrum, but between the Ref, ARs & the TMO, we all should be in 'general' agreement about the decisions in all games played. Does anyone know? Is the TMO a single person or is it a team of people headed up by the named TMO individual? And when a Yellow Card is to be reviewed by the Bunker, who is the Bunker person/Team? Can the TMO and/or their Assistants, the Bunker and/or their assistants & the 4th Official (on the sideline) be named as well please? On an aside, Nigel Owens when once answering a question on his RUclips World Rugby Whistle Watch channel about whether a TMO has to be qualified/experienced enough to be able to Referee in the middle to which Nigel’s answer was NO. So while Marius Jonker, the TMO for Fra vs NZ, is an experienced referee of years gone by, some TMOs are not able to referee at that level so why are they allowed to guide/overrule the Ref? The TMO says things like “I would like to show a clear head on head contact” or "I would like to show you a clear forward pass" whereas the TMO should say “I would you to review a situation” & allow the Ref (& the ARs if required) to see what they think. And then show ALL of the angles preferably split screen, normal speed, slow mo, frame by frame & freeze frame (if required). The final decision has to be made by the Ref. And could the TMOs remit please be stated/stipulated prior to any game/tournament so that us fans are informed & kept aware of what the TMO is allowed to do or not? Is it possible for a Ref to slightly alter the TMOs remit from what World Rugby have stipulated. And when their is 'clear head contact' & a 'high degree of danger', could the Mouthguard Impact reading also be supplied and/or taken into account? If the reading is low (enough), is that a mitigating factor? What reading initiates the Sideline Doctor to impose a HIA vs what reading would be low enough for mitigation - asking for a friend. Going over the top but will there be the day when all players will have to wear Headwear and Sensors in certain parts of their clothing, around the shoulders etc, that measures the respective impacts? Again, we can't have a game without Referees & it is a tough gig but I think we just all want consistency & transparency.
I actually found the ref in the AB-Fra game refreshing, because he wasn't following the trend. The trend has been TMOs interjecting repeatedly, slowing the game down and harsh penalties and cards. Yes, he made mistakes, but his communication was very good. The trend isn't improving anything.
The centre pairing needs to change!!!!And how has Stevenson and Narawa not featured this year?!?Both of them will do a better job than Reece on the wing.
We don’t have a lot of good centres in nz rn jordie and rieko out of form Havili and alb not good enough proctor isn’t good enough so who do you want razor to pick he’s using the best centres in nz
@@EdgarJnrJnr Proctor is definitely good enough, he is also definitely a better 13 than Rieko. Quinn Tupea'a is one 12 I can think of, the other options I have is probably a bit left field. But we need a 12 that can and most importantly wants to run into the gut of a defense and get us over the advantage line and a 13 that can create for his wings, a box Proctor ticks. Riley Higgins needs to put on some weight but he too should be in that 12 conversation.
The more things change the more they remain the same. In 1999 when France beat the all blacks in a world cup semi- final the French used the same tactics. The pace of Phillip Bernat Salles and Christophe Dominici on kick aheads beat the blacks on that occassion.
Can see where this young team under Razor is heading & the potential this side has is huge but after 13 test matchs this year I expected more as Abs haven't improved on their basic handling skills & execution at all & should've beaten France by at least 20 points. Come this time next year you just know Abs will be a helluva lot better... So watch out World Abs are only just starting! Now lets all unite Aotearoa NZ & stand together as one people! "KOTAHITANGA! ..🤜🏼🤛🏾.. 🤝🏼...👊🏼🙂 "TOI TU TE TIRITI"... 🇳🇿🖤🤍❤ 💪🏼😝
It is now imperative to select the fastest players on the wings otherwise you will be vulnerable to having the other team kick behind you to cause chaos with their pace
Instead of just having "player of the year", I think the selection panel should first pick the best prop, hooker, lock, loose forward, scrum half, fly half, centre and outside back... and THEN select the player of the year from that group. That way more players get recognition.
Bok fan here, in the first half I thought the AB’s were know we’re back, but in the second half you looked more mechanical. I think you are very close to being ‘back’ very, very close in fact. A tweak here or there and the AB’s will once again be extremely hard to beat. Before anyone comments the Boks were also not great I know, but there are reasons.
I'm in the 5th minute and I can tell you that SA takes the 3 points if they can have them .... especially in a tight game. When there is more room to play, sure you go for the 5 yard lineout but when it counts, go for the points
As Much as Sascha impressed, Wallace has done absolutely nothing wrong! So not just Breakthrough player of the year, but Young player of the year as well, and to an extent World Player of the year. The only other candidate for world player is Kolbe, who was injured for a chunk of the season. Really can't wait for next season... Gonna be real interesting to see how the ABz kick on.
Biggest area the ABs had wasn’t going for the 3 points but how they thought from kick off they were going to get near the try line when the set play they do from EVERY kick off was pointless in having the ball at all… catch, 1 or 2 runs then silly box kick or kick for touch that’s still in their half. What a low percentage play to gain advantage, it seems not to worry any team knowing they will get the ball back …so frustrating!!!
Surely Cortez could let Beaudy do the kicking if the new rules apply too much pressure? Perenara was the guy to close the French game, judging by Cortez' outing against England.
With regards to Scooter’s decision to go for the 3 points at the end vs going for a 5 pointer, hindsight is a ‘beautiful’ thing. For the 5 pointer, the kick would have had to been in the corner, the Line-out successful & then for the try to be scored by whoever - lots of opportunities for things to go wrong & people would then be saying ‘he should have taken the easy 3’ and come back down the field for another 3. I personally was saying to go for the 3 especially as while there was only 6 mins on the clock, there is invariably a lot of ‘injury’ time due to the game not finishing until the ball is ‘dead’. France would have been scared to have done anything wrong, even marginally, for fear of conceding a kickable penalty. As it turned the ABs did make it back into the French Half & around the 77min mark when DMac broke to about the France 10m passing onto Jordan, France could potentially have been pinged for some ‘lazy runners’ who didn’t get back onside fast enough but they weren’t picked up or the ABs didn’t milk for the penalty. I think it was the French 16, 20 & 18 who could have been milked or pinged for an offence. Shortly after that, if the pass to Reiko had have been successful with ALB & Cortez in support, that possession could have led to a try, penalty or Drop Kick attempt but instead the ball was cleared back down into ABs territory. After the clock had gone red, it wasn't a very good camera shot but I thought DMac was caught high by Fickou in a 2 man tackle but that wasn’t awarded. A whole bunch of IFs & so many parallel universes if only this or if only that but in reality the Official’s decisions should not have been a factor & taken out of their hands by having taken more scoring opportunities earlier and cutting down of the needless AB penalties resulting in points to France, lost territory, momentum etc. All good learnings for the future when the gap between the current top 4-8 countries gets smaller each year and these learnings could prove invaluable somewhere down the line hopefully…
I also think that awarding a single player as World Rugby's player of the year is unfair just because there are different field positions in the game. World Rugby panel should select the best player for each position and award all of them. You cannot compare performances of front rows to that of half backs or that of centers to back rows. I've never seen front rows being awarded by World Rugby in the past. Does this mean that their qualities are still being ignored ? I also think that awarding a single player as World Rugby player of the year is unfair because there are different positions on the field. Each position requires a different set of skills and you cannot compare fairly players at different positions on the field. The general trend of this award has been that of favoring backs. I've never seen front rows being given the award even though they perform very well. I think the competition for the award should be between players of the same field position. This award has always been subject to critics in the past just because of not being inclusive regarding field positions. Let's remember that the ultimate goal of the award has been that of pushing all players in any position to be on top of their game and emulate others. World Rugby panel should select the best player for any field position and award all of them. I think time is up for World Rugby to completely change the format of the award to allow any player in any position to be able to win the award and make it more acceptable to the Rugby community. Everybody's expectations cannot be met but in doing so World Rugby will certainly narrow and silence Many critics. Many Rugby players and fans will be happy If World Rugby implements this change to their yearly player's award.
Reece needs to go,and Rieko is walking on thin ice.He makes too many handling errors lately. And why Roigard was taken off, only Robertson would know.He was the best player on the field. From South Africa .👌
@JimmieCooper-le6vj for rieko you are incorrect because in nz most centres aren't all blacks level as much as we complain Week in week out about rieko and jordie what we have to understand is most centres in nz can't replace these two even proctor grey just aren't good enough
It's always good to wake up to the Aotearoa rugby pod here in South Africa. I feel like the top four can all beat each other on their day. Ireland's recent form is concerning, and the French not sending their best players on tour might come back to bite them in a World Cup knock out match when the majority of fans aren't on their side.
Ireland seem to be on the other side of the peak with the current players. The French need to learn to win down under and sending their 2nd stringers to get thrashed is a really bad idea with the WC in Oz.
For the most part Nika was fine. It was the TMO again. We definitely lost that through poor execution and I certainly thought we should have gone for a try at 75 mins. Losing by 1 or 4 is negligent.
I think the basic skills for NZ has been going down since Smith and Byrne finished with the ABs mid way through the 2019 RWC run, IMHO. Dropped ball and poor handling in contact has been a slow infection in NZ international rugger for a number of years now. Razor has had his first year in international Rugby, won 1 less than I thought he would, but I think the ABs have some better years ahead. Next year will be his acid test.
We didnt control the tempo. We put the French under pressure in the first half. 2nd half we eased off going for penalty kick instead of going for corner and not kicking enough for terrority and relying on our defence to keep them pinned and force mistake or turnover. French forwards were tired and we dominated them in the scrum and lineout.
With our scrum strength and the strike power in our back line, a mid field scum inside their 22 is a realistic option we are not using... it ties up forward defense and leaves huge gaps either side... so underutilized
The ABs need to attack in a less predictable manner. The French defense knew that if they kept their form they could hold on despite having decidedly less possession
You're saying that the match officials are corrupt and that they conspired to ensure Ireland won?? Really? That's a very serious accusation and brings rugby into disrepute. Have you evidence for that claim or is it just anti-Irish bias?
@stephendoherty981 I'm not anti Irish...i support Argentina and we always get robbed against 1st world countries. Just because we speak Spanish the ref respect Ireland more. You could've seen from minute 1 he didn't like our players. He wanted Ireland to win.
Our attacking 22m strategy needs to be simple that means GO DIRECT! Everytime we tried to play wide we were unsuccessful as opposed to just keep it in the forwards keep it tight and breakdown their goal line defence. If 15 players are standing on the try line (like a wall) and you form numbers to attack a certain spot anywhere along that wall, it’s gonna eventually break! Or they will concede one way or another due to the pressure and playing direct is low risk. In terms of our attack in general? We play way to conservative as almost we’re too affraid to make decisions or take risk? I see a lot of players who normally love to express themselves hesitate with ball in hand? players drop thier heads if they make a mistake etc it’s almost like we’re too affraid to take risks and to be singled out on the Monday video review 😂 i.e not backing ourselves to kick for the corner when the set piece was dominant the whole game🤷🏻♂️ Australia did it 3 times vs Wales and scored so why are not backing ourselves? On a positive, I think Razor is doing a fantastic job growing this squad. The squad of players in the forwards is the best I’ve seen for a long time with power, skill, youth and experienced players, they keep getting better and better and are a lot more cohesive than the backs. Overall I think the All Blacks are in a good place I just think we need to dig deeper into our roots what’s our identity what will separate us from the competition what will make us great again?
De Allende works for the game type. He's far from the complete inside centre in the traditional space-maker sense, but he works perfectly for these Boks. He's by no means "the main reason to their success". That's preposterous.
The Jordie & Reiko centre combo just isn't working on attack. Either Jordie gets smashed in the tackle ( His lanky frame doesn't help ) or Reiko goes into contact and doesn't pass (also had the case of butter fingers vs the French). Neither have an offload game either. Love the boys analysis on this show but I think they're hesitant to criticize individual players as they are/were professional players themselves and probably know the current AB players personally.. De Allende & Bundee Aki have been the best midfielders in the world for awhile now (and Tuilagi always gave us problems when he was fit). We need a big bopper to punch holes! We haven't had that since Nonu & SBW retired. So I hope Proctor gets a chance against Italy & next year Leicester Fainga'anuku will be eligible again. He has been playing exclusively at 13 for Toulon so might be the answer.
They are making basic errors simply because the new setup hasn't settled and that includes selections and performances from both coaches and players either one of 3 or 4 Springboks for the top gong....De Allende, Kolbe, Edzebeth or Steph dutoit.....
i dont like the changes in the rugby laws theyre silly why would i turn on the TV hoping to watch a 10 second rugby game? Scrap all the silly rules that have nothing to do with player health and safety
I dont think the ABs have lost their basic skill sets etc, I think its about the world catching up on leaps and bounds since 2015. Defence have systems have come a long way, intensity lvls of other nations have grown immensely etc. Its not the same rugby world it was 10years ago.
Taking 3 points is why we lost especially when your BEHIND!!. The kick restart is beneficial to the defensive team and going up by 3’s is not a reward it’s respecting the french and it certainly not demoralising to the French when a team behind is opting to take the 3 especially if it’s the All blacks. also gives them a break in play and if not boost there morale. I think we need to play more footy when in the red zone. Have you seen our back row?? Let them run a muck. I don’t care if all the tries a from the forwards cause the backs aren’t cutting it at the moment,to many individual play and not linking up enough.
As a Bok fan you guys always produce a great show; great coverage of multiple countries & their players & showing them respect & giving recognition; easily NZ’s most watchable rugby podcast. Also solid realistic reviews of the mighty ABs!
As a Kiwi and of course AB fan,
I feel the same when watching the Boks Office show.
But not this year. Average apart from this last game. Particularly alongside Kriel who's had his best year ever.
@@axxey You’re completely clueless. He’s been amazing every single game he’s played.
@@axxey winning every contact situation is not average my friend
@@JJ-li3lk It's also not every contact situation all year, his defense has not been rock solid and at least one game this year he had an absolute shocker.
He's a great player, this year is not it. I don't think it is for Eben either, despite his nomination.
De Allende reminds me of Jacques Kallis, same way, he wasnt flashy, but his performances were immense
I feel pretty behind the curve now with what you guys have proposed for De Allende but i have been beating the drum that there's nobody across the other teams that I'd pick ahead of De Allende. He's an absolute work horse and the PTSD in our midfield.
De Allende is the Pieter Toit Steph du in the midfield 😁??
@@rileyfreeman9726basically PSDT is player of the year not this hogwash they’re saying about De Allende. Besides that 1 run through midfield he was not doing much the entire game besides putting in a few tackles.
Bok fan here...I have been very impressed with Mark Tele'a. He seems very understated, but SO slippery, and a subtle but really effective step. I always think to myself when watching him play..."How did the heck did he get through there?"
He can't catch and has a receding hairline
Exceptional attack. Sub par defence and spatial awareness at top tier level unfortunately
@@tarutsoexactly spot on mate!
Fun fact: He's half South African
Not sure about bok fan but you definitely a Telea fan. Maybe time to come out of closet mate
Lakai had an impressive shift and should start the next game. Would like to see Love get some game time. This squad looks impressive, and the additions next year will be interesting.
I do feel our midfield with Reiko doesn't offer a lot in terms of attack. I hope Razor looks at this next year.
Yes more of Lakai and we need to bring in Fabian Holland into the pack 💪
@danhursty6684 Yes. Holland is a workhorse with size. He's definitely a massive prospect. Maybe off the bench vs. Italy and let Tuipulotu start.
I think Sititi Savea Hoskins would be a good back row. Hoskins for some extra height and they're all line out jumpers
France have to come to Dublin, as do England. Writing off your own team.
Classic inside centre..
@@ShiNooBi1986😂
1) Cam Roigard shouldn't have been subbed.
2) Vaa'i should have held on to the ball that led to a French try.
3) Reiko should have passed the ball when NZ had an overlap instead of cutting back in.
4) Hindsight is 20/20.
Nope cannot agree with what you said about Vaii and not passing that ball. He simply gave a bad pass which he normally wouldn't as he's easily the ABs most skilled tight forward. He passes that to Jordan and it's a try to NZ, so why would you not want him to pass it?
@@AK-wc9rl The french took his hand, that's why he missed.
@@AK-wc9rl I see where you are coming from, I'm not saying it was a bad call from him. I'm just talking about shoulda coulda mate.
So true, your analysis.
Jordie shouldn't be there at all if they're not going to use his big boot. Reiko hasn't been competative for years, never really succeeded as anything but wing(despite playing as a wing with 13 on his back and scoring tries not distributing).
Razor just seems to think reiko= barrett are the answer- then he sticks havill or alb in there🤔
Love to see clarke- aj lam play midfield against
Italy- think proctor not there😗
Has reiko still got pace go back to wing now😗?
Best combo jordan& clarke-- and get the ball out wide = way wallabies are doing now💪
Final thought theres players in squad who could give razor more attacking edge back line😎
@@tarutsoyep. We are short at 14 currently, so Reiko back to 14 and get him hungry for tries again..

Nailed it.
Reiko should be a wing. Proctor at 13 next year.
I think super rugby will be Riley Higgins, Josh Jacomb and Kini Naholo time to shine and get a black jersey opportunity
@ - Bok supporter here. Reiko and Clarke in the wings is a frightening prospect. I vote to keep Barrette and Reiko at 12 & 13.
France defence incredible. We were gassed at 55 mins, long tour. Lots of youth getting experience.
Agreed. Would love to see Tupea at 12 and Proctor 13
Sevu Reece has proved time and time again, he shouldn’t be an All Black.
His decision making just gets worse. His offside penalty gave France a try. His lack of fitness and speed gave France the WIN.

100%

Rieko had an almost 100% strike rate on the wing. No idea who's idea it was to try and convert him to 13. He's a specialist 11 so play him at 11.
Clarke has to play I'd put rieko on the bench as cover for wing and 13
@@Richie-o1t Clarke is great don't get me wrong but I feel Rieko beats Clarke for pace and is a bit more creative.
It was his own idea.

The croc roll was an appalling call. The person penalized didn’t even turn the opponent it was the contact of the next person into the ruck
Yeah that was a bad call.
It was a neck roll and not a croc roll. It was a fairly standard penalty. You're not allowed to clean by having your arm around someone's head/neck. The players know this
The ref was a DEI appointment.
@@ryanberelowitz7464 agree, it seems they confound crocc roll and neck roll. It was a neck roll not a croc roll.

ABs one great weakness are the consistent slow starts, even that 10min after half time lacks the intensity where the opposition is under pressure. The benchmark should be the 2023 test vs SAF in Auckland - 15min of black chaos.

It's in the mid field.... No threat. They seem soft. The forward pack is doing some crazy good things tho!

De Allende and kriel were good this year and last, but average beyond that as a pairing, best by far at the moment.

@JohnDowning-j7j before Kriel got his shot, DDA was dominating with Lukhanyo Am who was the best 13 in the world before his injury. DDA been the top 12 since 2019 already imo

De Allende has been in the team for what feels like forever, what 10-12 yrs. you almost take it for granted. I can’t think of youngster as a future replacement post 2027. Perhaps Sacha FN at 12, leave Manie at 10.
with Moodie at 13 perhaps. Would be fun.
Will he last til 2027? He's about to turn 33. 35-36 is ancient for a back.
@@barneyboy2008 I’m not sure if he will, but at the moment he’s still class.
After the 2019 world cup several bok teamates listed DDE as the player considered MVP within the team.
Again, we can't have a game without Referees & it is a tough gig but I think we just all want consistency & transparency.
great show guys! Springbok fan
@EdgarJnrJnr proctor is good he just need game time
@@EdgarJnrJnr Proctor is definitely good enough, he is also definitely a better 13 than Rieko.

All 3 have unique stepping ability in Union.
Should have kicked to the corner Scotty.
Instead of just having "player of the year", I think the selection panel should first pick the best prop, hooker, lock, loose forward, scrum half, fly half, centre and outside back... and THEN select the player of the year from that group. That way more players get recognition.
De allende always delivers, very underated player, one of the most consistent springboks in the last 10 years or so.
How can it be a croc-roll when there is no roll ???. The AB's need a centre and a right wing.
When is a maul not progressing ?
We have a right wing, he was injured
@@AngusRobert Who?????
@@RobBremner Mark Telea and Caleb Clarke solid wings
Another good show by all. Cheers! :-)
Great show deans great. Cheers
Can't wait for the 2 tests against SA in NZ.
Ever seen a guy named Pieter-Steph Du Toit? Jordie has a couple of times
A neck roll is different to a croc roll. It was a neck roll and therefore a penalty. It's been called numerous times this weekend alone. Get with it
Id give ya best nz sports panel for the awards. Thanks fullas'
My favourite podcast. A delicate question: your opinion about the officials, especially from the UK?
Surely Cortez could let Beaudy do the kicking if the new rules apply too much pressure? Perenara was the guy to close the French game, judging by Cortez' outing against England.
Everyone underestimates de Allende, and its always to their detriment. The literal glue that holds the Springbok backline together
On next weeks show, can you please name your World XV for the year based on performance. Thanks
I think quite alot of people are sleeping on how good France can be. How many players are they missing and they still won.
All teams have players missing with injury.
How are teams meant to play when every ref rules differently we never have consistentcy and tmos always ark up when the abs are playing well lol
Cheslin Kolbe! All the way!!!
Jordi Barrett need to go too
Reiko and Reece need to go.
Reece, rieko no rn in nz we are struggling in the centre department
Reese go. Reiko out to 14.
Yes Reece days are numbered Telea, Tavatavanawai & Narawa all better 14 options
Reece needs to go,and Rieko is walking on thin ice.He makes too many handling errors lately. And why Roigard was taken off, only Robertson would know.He was the best player on the field. From South Africa .👌
@JimmieCooper-le6vj for rieko you are incorrect because in nz most centres aren't all blacks level as much as we complain Week in week out about rieko and jordie what we have to understand is most centres in nz can't replace these two even proctor grey just aren't good enough
As a allblacks surporter in sa the problem is the midfield pair the allblacks have
We need an entire new midfield. Compare in your mind Nobu, Smith, SBW with Jordie, Reiko, and ALB.
Need to talk more about supposed 30 seconds for scrums. Refs need to walk the talk, or in this case apply the rules.
Top 8
Ireland seem to be on the other side of the peak with the current players.
The French need to learn to win down under and sending their 2nd stringers to get thrashed is a really bad idea with the WC in Oz.
As I remember as a amateur prop, any tight head can play loosehead, but not any loosehead can play tight head.
France should never have won !! Decision making ???🇿🇦 🇿🇦
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Argentina won against Ireland but the ref decided to give it to Ireland
That last play from Argentina, at least 4 penalties from Ireland but not given. Ref was 16th for Ireland
Yep tjis happens on end of year tours by southern Hemisphere sides touring the North. The refs are either intentionally biased or grossly inept
You're saying that the match officials are corrupt and that they conspired to ensure Ireland won?? Really? That's a very serious accusation and brings rugby into disrepute. Have you evidence for that claim or is it just anti-Irish bias?
@@stephendoherty981 anyone with eyes could've seen that Argentina were robbed in that final play
All blacks blaming the ref for loss. Wow
The French were clever they new the ABs were fixated on the last 20
The ABs 12, 13 and 14 are still an issue, mainly the 12.
The have Mark telea he was injured just need a new center pairing
Yeah the tweet about Gatland was right. 800 k a year for what.
What does “breakdown” mean in rugby vocabulary pls ? I’ve heard that one plenty of time so far.
(I’m french, just asking😂)
Argentina got robbed
They are making basic errors simply because the new setup hasn't settled and that includes selections and performances from both coaches and players either one of 3 or 4 Springboks for the top gong....De Allende, Kolbe, Edzebeth or Steph dutoit.....
i watched the game the all blacks looked out of sorts
Feels like there is a piece missing from the ABs squad. Not sure what that missing piece is tho
You're right, and it seems to be 12 & 13 where the problems start, Ioane's better off as a winger and Billy Proctor should at least be given a try out
The AB captaincy ?? Loose by 1 or 4 is the same. Not taking them on kicking for the corner for a 1 or 3 point win, beats me.
i dont like the changes in the rugby laws theyre silly why would i turn on the TV hoping to watch a 10 second rugby game? Scrap all the silly rules that have nothing to do with player health and safety
May be Shaun Edward's Defence has something to do with it ?
