Animals will be slaughtered anyway to get meat and the skin use as leather is far better than any oil based "vegan" leather - better known as plastic. There is no need for such a crusade. 24:29 Bjorn Nyland tested the ID4 recently with the same battery capacity and charging speed (125 kW) on his 1 000km challenge. The MEB's charging curve is way flatter than the one in Teslas so in the end, they recuperate the same amount of energy in pretty much the same time
How fast can a Golf ICE make it under the same circumstances? I am considering purchasing an EV. I recently drove from outside San Francisco well into LA in approximately 390 miles in about six and a half hours with a 45 minute lunch break in an ICE vehicle. A kind Tesla owner calculated a used 2014 Model S70 would take 45 minutes longer with optimal charging design in 3 stops. He stated he finds chargers free along the way, but chargers in urban centers have delays, so a full starting charge.time for the return is the charge time plus the queue time. So far, it is interesting, but not promising.
@@buzzpedrotti5401 good question. Bjorn tested a bunch of them (including an ICE for reference). The Kia Ceed Phev (similar to a kia Forte) did 1000km in 9h25. The closest EV did it in 9h50 (Model S Raven) while the ID4 did it in 10h35. It depends on your needs. If you do that trip only a few times a year, then that hour that you lose isn't that big a deal compared to the money you save om gas. And TBH, if you drive that much regularly, then an EV will save you tons and tons of money on gas either way, especially since the ID4 has a 3 year free charging on Electrify America included in its price. Anyway, here's the link to the video. He presents the spreadsheet with all the competition near the end ruclips.net/video/dwRtevTuXf0/видео.html

Actually the range is pretty good...the temperature is low and you drove it on autobahn...so I assume that the speed was somewhere between 90-110 km\h...maybe 120km/h. The car seems that doesn’t has a heating pump, so the 300-330km range is pretty good. Assuming that a heating pump would give you 20-30% more range that would means somewhere between 360-400km range. That means that in summer it would have 500-520km of range....not bad at all
7:10 A panoramic roof which actually opens! This is pretty much the only new-gen EV which comes with this feature which in my mind, is a must-have. Nothing like an open top to remind you of what your life could've been if you were less practical and opted for a convertible instead lol
Thomas you look boss rocking that Scully!! Oh excellent review!! I’ve been waiting for this review. You’re so practical. I look forward to seeing your reviews.
Thank you for pointing out how stupid sliders and touch can be. I am very tired of reviewers who call the interior "modern" and "slick" of these new cars only to try to do something in the review with the system but missclicking 3-4 times on camera just trying to navigate the menus or functions.
Nice car, great job reviewing it. Love the funnel trick for wiper fluid, very handy. Umbrella gimmick is fun, too, love it. Folding back seat remote lever is perfect. Styling is very appealing. Drink less coffee, you won't mind computer software response times! Same applies to charging times. Keep up the good work. Always look forward to your videos.
@@ewadge I hope so. Tested the ID.3 a while back and really liked the driving, but not a fan of the interior. The Enyaq appeals more to me. And I can tow, huge plus for me. 👍
I like the new presentation style, it's more dynamic but you tend to be a bit too quick and for example we didn't get any close shots at the steering wheel! (and fortunately there are real buttons there contrary to the ID3 & 4!)
Yeah, the Enyaq is definitely better than ID4 as far as I’m concerned... and this is the model’s sweet spot. 80 spec, nice interior, heat pump and 125KW charging - about £42-43k UK price I think.
Great review. Really love the design inside and out. A good ride and quiet cruising really fit the bill. However, is the range going to be enough for the 320km journey I do regularly, especially in the winter?
Great Autogefuhl video as usual, really like the Skoda style the best in the VAG multiverse. For the door closing issue you talked about with grip, does the "dutch reach method" help solve that? I mean to use your 'inside' hand to reach to grip to open and close. Apparently improves vision and safety for cyclists.
I was looking forward for this review. For now Enyaq is a skip for me. Things to improve: - battery to 107kW :D (the 77kW on Autobahn will give perhaps till 300km.. for a family car and vacations or day trips is not enough I would say) - update software and hardware of the multimedia system (no freeze, no lag) - remove the sliding touch keys (sunroof, volume) - design better door handles (those are looking bad and also cheap) - use also soft plastic on the back doors - Audi Q4 e-tron which shares the same MEB platform has the normal (big) dashboard, I would have like that also in the Enyaq (as size). On ID.4 I find it even worse :) Question: has the Q4 e-tron also drum brakes on the rear axle?
This looks a nice addition to the Skoda range. I have a Karoq so I can attest to the comfort, build quality and dependability of the brand. However, the dealership wanted to charge £70 GBP (80 Euros) for replacement wiper blades (labour extra) on a car that has only done 3000 miles - 4800km - (because of Covid it hasn't been out much). I wonder what they'd charge for anything major. Lovely review as always, Thomas.
Yes the old school mic provides best sound quality. Also what I wanted to comment on since a long time - huge respect Thomas that cars in each review and presentation you are doing are always spotless and perfectly clean. Shows your respect to the viewers. Thank you!
Same issue in my ICE 2018 Touran, once ignition is off, buttons on wheel do not work. Better than ID4 but still budget plastic and software. Not yet for masses.
Good review, but would be nice to see one with a family of 4/5, with luggage and roof/bike rack. Whats the range going to be then? I'm on a LR Discovery 3 at the moment and it's awesome for long trips and completely loaded up. I would change to an all EV but the range would have to improve or charging times improved.
Lack of 22kw AC onboard charger is a biggest deal breaker for Zoe owners looking to upgrade. I have a 22kw AC charger at home and it's like buying a 500Mbps Wifi with a Gigabit broadband connection. Waiting for Nissan Ariya and Renault Megane Evision.
These new VW EV cars make me appreciate the existence of Rav4 Prime even more. I do not own it, I only drove "regular" Rav4 Hybrid, but considering range, speed, surprisingly infotainment - TBH I would prefer Toyotas caveman radio to a new shiny system, that stutters and freezes (even if it's once in a while) and physical buttons.
Maybe in 5 years because now it's still expensive, range could certainly be better, and there are still few and relative slow charging facilities. For now i'll buy my probably last petrol-powered car. Good and informative review by the way !
Great review as always Thomas! Lots to like here but can’t help thinking I would rather not have the third rate iPad stuck in the dash. Would love to have an “analogue” version with fewer features and some dials and knobs. After all, I binned my digital watch in 1983 and last time I looked Rolex are still strictly analogue!
Very good review! Especially I am happy about measure the length of trunk. If I will buy this beautiful car I will never left it and I will even sleep inside :) Thanks
Thanks for a great review. I have to however disagree with you on the range aspect. I have been driving a Leaf with ~100km range in winter conditions and rarely use a rapid charger. With 3x the range the only use case would be on longer trips and even then it would mean a 30-40 minute pause after every ~3 hours of driving which seems to me at least like a nice rest period that is quite commonly taken anyway. So it is not a requirement IMO to go for the largest battery option, both IV 50 and IV 60 can be easily enough for over 90% of use and with improving charging infrastructure the last 10% will not be that inconvenient either. The cost saving however can be quite noticeable.
Dear Thomas @Autogefühl The 80x will be 4-wheel driving or also 4-wheel steering? In other words: will it improve the agility or only the accelaration? You say Enyaq is lagging the ID4 a bit in agility, so that made me think of 80x as an alternative. Thanks for answering!
Thanks Thomas, I really decided to go for ID4 (still think it’s better looking) but I definitely have to look into the Skoda! Prefer interior of Skoda, more physical buttons and wool interior. And Björn Nyland said it actually was more efficient in his testing in northern climates, on the margin though!
I am receiving this car next month and your review confirmed my expectations to the car. I 100% agree that screen freezze are unacceptable. Strange that the approximate detector still worked, since the screen changes. Are you sure you did not enable a "child lock" or something?
Hello Tomas... one more time a very good review... but you could do better. E-Padel drive... is it any good? Does it make full stop? What information does the dashboard show? Especially consumption, regen numbers, autonomy is any real? Nerdy stuff... please. What is consumption (more or less)? XXKw/100km Well, keep the good work...
This is what EVs need to take off big time. A good, affordable and well designed family car that is as normal as it gets (and by the way happens to be electric).
Very much hoping to be able to order one of these. I think the middle battery should be fine, the range of 200 miles in all conditions is fine. I think there is one misconception that many people have, and that is that most people are going for an electric vehicle for environmental reasons. In the main, people are doing it to save money on fuel costs et cetera. Therefore leather seats and so on in an electric vehicle is perfectly understandable, I’m not necessarily a contradiction in terms. Manufacturers understand this which is why they still keep offering them

Could you give more details on the recuperation paddles? Do they allow for one-pedal-drive with full stop or are they really just a gimmick? Can't find any information on them yet...
How can the thing with the steering wheel buttons not functioning when the ignition is off be a surprice? This has been the case on all VW products at least the last ten years!
11:00 Since you're seemingly the first reviewer I found that even mentions that the car can have music.. do you happen to know what options there are to get music into it? Is there a USB or SD-card slot where I can plug my mp3 collection in?
That roof slider would be annoying if the roof was open and it started to rain, is there an override button? As for the umbrella, good idea, but if there's more than one person in the car, only one keeps dry lol
125 kw charging is not bad given flat chargion curve. Tesla model 3 will do higher changing rate for the first twenty percent of the battery if arriving at completely empty battery, but very soon the cahrge rate will drop and very much equal ID4's charge rate which is staying much flatter without that substantial drop off in charge rate of Tesla mod 3. Thus don't overemphasis the maximum charge rate figure which in many cases is marketing figure achievable in rare specific cases and for very short period. Otherwise excellent review, especially insight in the infotainment menues which are getting a significant choice point among cars.

I didn't know the Enyaq has Regen control on the paddles. I love that on my Kona 👍
I think this car has everything! 🥳
Except super charger network!
Great review, I enjoyed watching it, I do very much like the new Enyaq iv.
Very good video😁😃👍
I love Škoda Enyaq iV 😍🚗
Good review, but would be nice to see one with a family of 4/5, with luggage and roof/bike rack. Whats the range going to be then? I'm on a LR Discovery 3 at the moment and it's awesome for long trips and completely loaded up. I would change to an all EV but the range would have to improve or charging times improved.
You're on a roll young man, keep those reviews coming...
we will! final Mercedes EQS coming up as well as Audi Q4 e-tron
Great review. I've ordered an enyaq to replace my model 3, can't wait to get it hopefully this Summer.
Great review Thomas and thank you for highlighting whether animal free coverings are available.
highly appreciated Andy, keep supporting!
So nicely executed!!! All recent Skodas!!! Bravo Skoda!!!
Excellent review 😊. When will you test the 85?
The steering wheels buttons not working with ignition off is apparently a VW group thing. I have the same issue in my Touran :)
Same thing with a lot of cars. Nothing new :)
Just checked the pricing through configurator and decided that I could wait.
Yes!!! I’ve been looking forward to this review 😍
Wie fandest du ihn im Vergleich zum iX3 ? Was die Bedienung anbelangt, aber auch was den Fahrkomfort und die Straßenlage anbelangt.
fantastic video. Anyone have information about the future of software updates? improvements in entertainment? Netflix? o Does it freeze?
The 50 has some arbitrary limitations that cry "buy me not"!
@@abraxastulammo9940 Yeah, it has been hidden in most countries configurator tool aswell I think
Excellent review, thanks! But I wonder, how does the interior space (for passengers) compare to the Kodiaq?
Pozdrav Milose, nadam se da ce se Sergej oporaviti, sta god da je u pitanju.
I am receiving this car next month and your review confirmed my expectations to the car.
I 100% agree that screen freezze are unacceptable. Strange that the approximate detector still worked, since the screen changes. Are you sure you did not enable a "child lock" or something?
No covers in the middle console, for the cupholders etc? Maybe available in higher specs?
We do not have this car in Canada 🇨🇦 but viewing it anyway... Love the accent... ☺️
As always, nice review!
Is the back seat comparable to the ID.4's ? Smaller or larger?
Great review - does this car have parking assist please?
Hello Tomas... one more time a very good review... but you could do better.
E-Padel drive... is it any good? Does it make full stop?
What information does the dashboard show? Especially consumption, regen numbers, autonomy is any real? Nerdy stuff... please.
What is consumption (more or less)? XXKw/100km
Well, keep the good work...
Awesome review as usual Tomas! By any chance will you be reviewing the new Hyundai Tucson??
This is what EVs need to take off big time. A good, affordable and well designed family car that is as normal as it gets (and by the way happens to be electric).
Very much hoping to be able to order one of these. I think the middle battery should be fine, the range of 200 miles in all conditions is fine. I think there is one misconception that many people have, and that is that most people are going for an electric vehicle for environmental reasons. In the main, people are doing it to save money on fuel costs et cetera. Therefore leather seats and so on in an electric vehicle is perfectly understandable, I’m not necessarily a contradiction in terms. Manufacturers understand this which is why they still keep offering them
Animal and non animal materials must be fairly balanced to create diversity.
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: ruclips.net/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/видео.html
In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ruclips.net/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/видео.html
Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car.
In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter.
Not using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
caring about other living beings is not lobbyism, it is called compassion and being human.
Thomas, would you buy/lease the Enyaq or the ID4 if it was your money? Both are more or less the same price in the UK!
Get the Kia E Niro, it's much more efficient and good price
You really get a lot for your money with this car.
The best offer in the class of the small SUVs so far.
Great work Skoda and also great work Thomas.
Could you give more details on the recuperation paddles? Do they allow for one-pedal-drive with full stop or are they really just a gimmick? Can't find any information on them yet...
I saw another review where they didn't work yet ... more software issues perhaps.
Nice review. I'm still wondering why reviewers don't show Android carplay. The reality is: 80%+ of all smartphone-users don't use an iPhone.
Cheers! Because car reviewers usually have iPhones
@@autogefuehl Even if true, that doesn't serve your viewers I guess. Anyway, thanks again for the review.
As somebody with the vw id3 (also smaller sibling ) i sure hope the dodgy software isn’t going to be an issue on this , same platform, Enyak.
The fabric on the dashboard..how do you clean it?
The car looks really nice.
Looks great!
LY Thomas and hello from Croatia :D
best greetings!
What is the consumption per 100km?
How can the thing with the steering wheel buttons not functioning when the ignition is off be a surprice? This has been the case on all VW products at least the last ten years!
I saw several review, and I like this car, not in this color inside, outside. The first electric car I'm theoretically thinking about.
When the 4WD model will be available? Good video! 👍😄
11:00 Since you're seemingly the first reviewer I found that even mentions that the car can have music.. do you happen to know what options there are to get music into it? Is there a USB or SD-card slot where I can plug my mp3 collection in?
Did you get turn directions on little screen and HUD when using CarPlay navigation waze etc. Thanks
Range, price and longevity. EVs have a ways to go to displace a similar ICE.
Very useful review...Thank you...!!
Is it MPV? SUV?
4:02 Thomas being innovative. 10/10 innovation.👌😅
ahaha =)
That roof slider would be annoying if the roof was open and it started to rain, is there an override button?
As for the umbrella, good idea, but if there's more than one person in the car, only one keeps dry lol
There's an umbrella on both sides ;)
"Simply clever"
Curti esse vídeo ❤️ Dá uma dica de perfil interessante pra eu seguir?
Excellent car review, very objective
Thanks 🙏
good review Thomas.
When will you make a video about the new Skoda Fabia?
Much nicer than the ID4, wish it came to America.
