While I watched other "One Song" videos for the amps, jumping between sections and so on, just now I was listening to this video on the background and I realized just how good the song itself is - there are parts that are truly moving. Good job!
One of the best demo videos I’ve ever seen. The overall sound quality is superb. Excellent backing track, as well. Killer drumming. Hearing this amp in its different configurations in a true musical context makes a huge difference in getting an idea of its overall usefulness. Your hard work and attention to detail is most appreciated.
Lunchbox amps are like Pokémon, got to catch them all 😁 Loving the Ironball here, maybe even more than the Fireball, glad I got the Ironball SE and MT15, should cover some serious ground 👌 love your videos 👍
Notes about the 'One Song' series: The idea for the 'One Song' series came about when I was trying to come up with a cool idea for my next EPIC/MEGA amp comparison with around 30 amps. So I came up with the idea of writing a song in multiple styles that would do a good job of 'testing' the versatility of an amp. It would start clean and end with metal. And I thought it could be interesting to use multiple guitars, so one for each section. Then I realised that it would be cool to release each amp's video individually first and when I'm all done I'll upload a compilation that would essentially be similar to all my other mega comparisons, including all the timecodes etc. This will be called: 'One Song, 30 Amps!'. So that's the plan basically! However, I'm also planning on running the song through some modeling platforms to also demo those and see how well they can work with all the material in the song. I've chosen to NOT use the same IRs for each segment this time because I want to use cab tones that the amps are 'comfortable' with. So don't view this as a direct comparison of the amps per say, but view it as an amp showcase that also allows you to hear how the amps function inside the song or inside the music, of course in comparison to one another in that sense! This will showcase the uniqueness of the amps more, which is more fun imho, and it also allows me to be a little bit more creative when reamping each amp. Plus: some of you guys will say 'they all sound the same' anyway and the different cab sounds will make the amps sound more interesting and unique! For the metal segment I'll very likely use a boost pedal for most of the amps, just so you metalheads or djentheads can hear how a downtuned baritone with a boost sounds with the amp. Anyway, I hope you guys will enjoy this series and I hope I made the song interesting enough to listen to it a couple times (because I don't expect anyone to watch all 30 or more amp videos lol). -Jon
Not only is this a fun series of videos, I think you're doing a service to the industry as a whole. This wouldn't/shouldn't be what someone bases a purchase decision on entirely, but it's as close to an apples-to-apples comparison as you can get and allows close comparison of individual tones. Even if those tones aren't the optimum showcase for the specific amps, it's a great comparative tool.
love mine. it doesn't really compare to my blackmore through the same cab, it can't quite match the clarity of that amp, but i couldn't ask for a better bedroom companion. also it really gets along with my 8 string
Because I live in the middle of no-where and I couldn't seem to find any ENGL amps close to me . I depend on these types of tests to make my decision . It was between this and the Fireball - I chose the Fireball . After watching this I hope I made the right choice .
Lol, again with this guy… I have watched the review before, and know all I need about this amp (because I bought one!), but I played this vid specifically because I like the music 😂 as I do with many of his others….
How did you manage to load those Line6-exclusive IRs within the engl amp? I bought the workhorse library, but it's in hir. format (which I knew nothing about it....stupid me). For what I read, there's no hir to wav converter....I guess you ran those IRs via HX out of the engl balanced output.
This is the coolest review concept and some very tasteful playing. Subscribed and spent quite some time checking different sound samples, beautifully organized. I see your love for Engl amps :-). Would you think the Ironman is also good for some home use medium gain/hard rock playing? Not exactly a metal fan here. Or would the Fireball 25 be a better (less brutal) option? Thank you for great reviews!
Beside this amp, which lunchbox would u suggest for all (clean, blues, rock and metal)? A versatile one as this little monster. Thank u! Your videos are awesome!
Wow, great playing. I also own this awesome amp and i am more than happy with it, i can only suggest it. Are there tabs available somewhere for those inspiring riffs? Thanks and best regards from Austria.
I like your videos very much, especially the Orangey ones, but sometimes its sounds like theres some "phase90" effect on the distorted sounds clips or IRs.
@@SonicDriveStudio it sounds like he’s on about the double tracking... I can kind of see where he’s coming from as it does sound a little like chorus when listening on a mono speaker/phone
Little question I have about this amp: the one in the video has a "presence" knob. I just bought one myself recently and it has a "lead presence" knob. Does anyone know if they actually changed what the knob affects or if they just changed the label?
I read that these cant give much volume at all on cleans? At the moment I have a tiny Terror, home use only, but wanted a more open sounding gain structure, clean channel and fx loop.
@@SonicDriveStudio You meant this one: ruclips.net/video/vtjav_a5FQo/видео.html Because it is not the ENGL E606 Ironball Head 20 & E633 Fireball 25 that you have. I know the differences are mostly in the power section of each amp 2x 6L6GC & 2 x EL 84 and some features at the back, one with noise gate and the other one with reverb, as well as some features for recording the amp, one with a line output at 0db, and the other one with 2 line outputs CabSim and pure signal. I wonder how these features might change each amp's sound when recording them directly through their respective line outputs into an interface, and using mics with your ENGL cab, as well as your favorite recording method. I think we need a Fireball v Ironball shootout
One amp to rule them all…never been an Engl fan, but this amp sounds amazing!!!
I really love this one song concept. Hope you try some Victory amps in the future, too (Kraken, Sheriff, Countess, etc.).
That crunch channel sounds amazing!
Must do before watching: clicking the "Like" !

That amp sounds incredible... nice demo!
Ok that's all merit of the Helix Reverb :D No jokes apart that's a super cool song and the amp sounds really great.
Awesome video, I like this ENGL, very polished modern metal guitar tones !

Doesnt seem you loose much from the 100w version, sounds great!
Great job! Best sounding ENGL amp IMHO

cool riffs and great tone bro
Just got this today. Don't let the 20 watts fool you. This thing is stupid loud

The second part of the solo lead instantly reminded me of the intro of the moor by opeth. I love that sound!
Awesome ! Love this amps versatility !
It sounds very versatile. Great song too. 👍
Small but packin' heavy ballz - full sized tubes. Hell, who does that to such a small amp!
Stay tuned for my MT15 is Fireball 25 comparison!

Yeah, both are fine but the Fireball would be a little bit better for that imho.
Top three high gain amp sources on youtube. Ola Englund, Fluff and this guy!
damn that thing sounds sick!!

The bass sounds so thick in this!
Amazing amp

Подскажите пожалуйста, когда отключаешь выход на кабинет и берёшь линейный сигнал из усилителя в звуковую карту, теряется ли влияние оконечника?
Very nice lead solo. Is it yours or there are some tabs for it ?
Don´t you have a comparison between this one and the E633 Fireball 25? I mean you have both amps. Don´t you?

Do the clean and lead channels take od and distortion pedals well?
Great work!...one question... how did you get the line output to apply the ir's?.. through the FX loop send output?
My guess is speaker out into a load box
Can't decide between this one and the Fireball 25
Both are very good but the Fireball has a noise gate and probably more headroom
@@SonicDriveStudio Does the FIreball sound thicker and bigger?
@@Lenser I haven't compared them directly but maybe? Probably? Both sound huge

Which do you choose between this and the silver jubilee mini?
For more classic styles the Marshall. For modern stuff the ENGL
Superior drummer?
