Traffickers going into poverty ridden countries and telling parents they're gonna send their children to good schools at least was (if not still is) a huge problem. A couple years ago i remember my mom telling me about how one organization was busted for taking kids, telling then parents they were going to send them to a good school for a few years and then give them back educated with better opportunities, but were actually selling off the children to unsuspecting couples looking to adopt children. They would take kids at like 3-4, so when they grow up they wouldn't really remember their birth parents. The only reason they were busted was because one of the children remembered, and when they learned English, they kept talking about their true mom and family to their adopted parents, who were then alarmed (bc the organization system told them the child's parents were dead or something like that, i can't quite remember) and they reported the situation to investigators.
I remember reading about a case not so long ago, where an American family adopted a little girl called Namata from Uganda, only to later find out from her that what the adoption papers said were all lies, and that her mother had been tricked into signing away her parental rights under the belief that her daughter would be receiving a good education. Spoilers for the episode ... The first crime is sort of a red herring to lead to the real meat of the episode, which is about the slavery ring from Nigeria. For anyone wondering if the Voodoo thing meant anything for the first murder, it didn't. In fact, its was mentioned the murder 'couldn't' be a voodoo sacrifice since it happened near a lake, which I guess is a big no-no when it comes to voodoo sacrifices. The boy was bought as a slave and r*ped repeatedly until his owner was done with him and killed him to make it look like a sacrifice. As for the slavery ring itself, they find the slave traders who show no remorse (not surprisingly) and don't want to play nice. The Nigerian woman the detectives went to for the missing children? She's a consul and she was there when they found the slave ring leader and informs him he will be deported back to Nigeria where he will be executed, which in Nigeria means death by firing squad where she delights in telling him he will be shot in the ankles first, so that the gunman can walk up calmly towards him and take point-blank shots at his vital organs.
Nigeria does a way better job with such freaks than America. Letting them live with free room and board, for their sins, is bullshit. I don't care if gen-pop already gets to use them as toys, they can serve way more use than that.
The consul is portrayed (beautifully) by Erika Alexander. And it was Fin that actually mentions the firing squad starts with the toes and works their way up. 😁
Oh yeah I remeber this one. The slave ring while the big centerpiece was the connection point to the missing child which was bought by a man for stranger danger while wifey was away. Wife was coming home early so man kills boy and fakes a voodoo ritual to cover his track. At the end he dies when a water main floods his holding cell

As an American, I am deeply angry and sickened that child slavery is happening in the U.S. This happens everyday and worse. Let's pass laws so severe that child smugglers choose a different cargo than children. Sadly, parents in other countries are happy to sell their kids for $$.
Most of the time, the kids are just stolen. There are places where children can’t go to school because if they’re out of their parents’ sight, they’ll be taken. These are violent acts, not only parents letting their children go because they wish for a better life for them.

I totally agree Detective Elliot Stabler was overstepping and trampling on religious freedom which is so wrong and it was one of his worst moments on the series.

Not me. I’m a church going man. I would prefer that my faith cooperate fully with law enforcement, and I would prefer law enforcement to respect the rights of all people. The major stigma is that if a religious object is found near or around a crime scene or a religious person commits a crime that the church approves of that crime. This episode gets even more dark as it goes on.
What sadder is how to this happens in real life child trafficking is real and most times they are given away by their parents or guardians in hope that they will come back and take care of their families
I was horrified the whole video especially seeing all the innocent children chained up at the end 😢
Honestly! It's sickening...this just screams racism and even if it doesn't the fact that these are innocent children being killed and even worse being treated like slaves...my grandmother on my mother side of the family is native American but my grandfather on my father's side of the family was Irish...and my grandfather told me how horrible my ancestors were treated when they first came to america so discrimination of any kind is something i can't tolerate
At least the trader told them where the kids were being held in the end
I challenge anyone to think humans aren't capable of this. They are. And this happens more than you imagine.
[citation needed]
@@curious1053look up any website about modern slavery. There are more people held in slavery or in slave like conditions than at any time in history.
it happens everyday
Unfortunately very true.😢
If u don’t think humans are capable of this u simply have to look back in history
I was literally bawling during the last scene. This is awful and heartbreaking.
8:15 elliot's face matches how I feel about that woman! And also Fin was amazing!
Those poor children. I can't believe this would happen in real life.
It happens more than you can comprehend or understand. It makes you think what storage that barely sees traffic or other places does things like that and you just live your life right pass it.
It happens everyday.
@@Sounds_to_Fuel_Dreams especially In Hollywood ever Saw eyes wide shut? That was Stanley Kubrick's last movie so think about that.

It's our nature.
One thing people not pointing out is the lawyer. If I would had knew my client had a freaking CHILD being used as a servant from another country I would had immediately said nah you’re on your own.
Criminal defense lawyers are almost always employed for these wealthy families and get paid a monthly retainer regardless of if services were rendered or not.
Yea…. That’s not how it works lol
Lie-awyer. It’s all about the money.
the lawyer ALWAYS knows😂 but i like that ya got morals
I became visceral at the sight of the enslaved children. It's not often that fiction can evoke such primal anger within me
Spoilers for the episode ...
Thank you! Was curious.
The consul is portrayed (beautifully) by Erika Alexander. And it was Fin that actually mentions the firing squad starts with the toes and works their way up. 😁
Which episode do you know the name of it
@@awalker8371 It should be in the description of the video.
No one should sacrifice a slave child ever. I was really upset when they found those kids all chained up
No one should be a slave. No one should enslave children. No one should be ritually sacrificied.
RIP Richard Belzer I grew up watching SVU and many episodes with him in them.
I'll never understand why Ice T hasn't been nominated for a Golden Globe ir Emmy. I believe Mariska Hargitay was nominated and might have wom a GG but I think Ice-T, abd Munch, were overshadowed by Elliott's character.
Watching this episode as an African made me cry because I know it really happens💔
As a white man, I get angry beyond reason that this happens.
One's birthplace or ancestry are irrelevant. Modern-day slavery - let's call it what it is - is no less abhorrent than its historical counterparts.

It also happens in the good ole US of A. Smh!!
"Sorry sir, your religion has a history of human sacrifice"
Immediately after calling out the hypocrisy:
"Sir this is about a murder, not religious tradition"
Like, what? Lmao.
Stabler is bad cop
Two things can be true at the same time
The Catholic communion is symbolic and Jesus said as such.
So gross- bought her from a warehouse - sounds like an auction. Absolutely disgusting
This woman is a good actress. She really made me hate her. Don’t hate the actress, ok? She really embodied that rich and racist character! 😅
Seeing all those beauties children in the dark with chains .... my freaking heart! 😭😭😭😭 💔
Love Ice T
"W'ELL HAUL YOUR A''' OUTTA HERE!"😂😂😂😂😂
i was crying my eyes out. this show is so good i forgot these were actors. i love how they brought awareness to this situation, what a disgusting thing going on in this world. i pray a better world for everyone. 😭
This is Fin at his best!
One of his many bests, but I know what your saying.
That last part with the kids in chains gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes
Finn and Munch - OUTSTANDING dudes
This is why we get missing children daily in my country Nigeria. I am deeply sad, so so sad.
Last scene breaks my heart.
I cried
Of all the episodes I've watched of SVU. This scene made me want to cry!
I think this episode is inspired by a case that happened in England, in 2001.
Investigator called the child Adam, a ''Jon Doe" like name.
Reminds me of the boy in the Thames about twenty years ago
You gotta be a different breed of evil to do this to anyone, but specifically children? Jesus christ.
Watch I am slave based on true story.
This is why that old lady is gonna get beat in prison
Fin was awesome in this episode.
And to think, this happens still today...i dont wanna hear people say slavery is over
Participating in child slavery and human trafficking is not a "misunderstanding", Mr. Lawyer.
Oh 👋thats Erika Alexander (the lady sitting down at the desk) from Living Single known as Max/Maxine and also Bill Cosby tv shows. I haven't watched this show in years and I can't recall that she was actually on this show. Oh, 😱 my.
I still can’t even believe it’s people out here like this, like you truly have to have no heart within you to hurt a child in any type of way.
I’ve always been a fan of this show but the way they treat the voodoo shop owner and the woman trying to help these children is unsettling
This actually happened - in the UK. Boy was called Adam.
I know someone who was in the Ivory Coast when there was an uprising in a neighboring country. They saw human heads on poles paraded in those cities still dripping blood.
6:24 ice T is a badass
Accused someone of child sacrifice and got shocked they react with anger 😂
4:42 I love the way he tells that maid off
5x14 L&O SVU Fin and Elliot are the two has badass moments in this whole episode
"In case you hadn't heard, Lincoln freed the slaver." Such a good line man!
Detective Fin Tutuola at one of his very best
Elliot wanting to trample on religious freedoms really irked me the worst kind of way. "If you have noting to hide you have nothing to fear" doesn't ring as reassuring to those people's civil liberties. Imagine if someone asked him for a list of every single Catholic in Manhattan. That's a horrifying request!
Stabler was very out of pocket for this, and many other instances. He was never my favorite. Shout out to Fin and Munch!
I totally agree Detective Elliot Stabler was overstepping and trampling on religious freedom which is so wrong and it was one of his worst moments on the series.
@@marshaloiscamillephilpotts6406 Religious freedom shouldn’t make it ok to kill animals though. That’s just legal animal cruelty.
Elliot was actually thinking about these kids who are working ridiculous hours for little income and not knowing when they will EVER see their families again!!!!!!! If you can't see that, then there's something wrong with you and your beliefs. Because children shouldn't be working 14hrs a day everyday.
Do u think it shouldn’t be a religious freedom to kill animals? Cause I looked it up and it’s legal
This episode was based off a real case. The boy was trafficked not for slavery but actually for ritual sacrifice. And he wasn’t the only one.

Nigeria is a developing nation, the richest man in Africa lives and runs his business from there, most people live in cities, they make more than $0 and their schooling is often better than a ton of states in the US.
Yeah pretty ignorant message tbh
Like you said, Nigeria’s education system far surpasses America’s and many of its systemic issues can be traced back to British colonialism, which persisted until 1960

That is one haymaker of a title I HAD to know
It gets worse, but they catch the monster trafficking the kids and the monster who killed the boy in the episode. Not the same monster unfortunately. But they manage to force the guy to reveal when and where he's getting another "shipment" and the episode ends with them rescuing those kids too.
Everyone is for overstepping religon freedom rights until its a religon they support
Not me. I’m a church going man. I would prefer that my faith cooperate fully with law enforcement, and I would prefer law enforcement to respect the rights of all people. The major stigma is that if a religious object is found near or around a crime scene or a religious person commits a crime that the church approves of that crime. That’s an ecological fallacy, assuming that one means all. In that scene, they had no right to assume that the religion approves of the crime. A lot of religions use candles. So are all of them guilty because a crazy person used a candle?
@@elderliddle2733the main assumption was that the candles sold by that temple was used by its members in the murder. What the cops did in that first confrontation was wrong, but not without complete reason. What I’m tired of, is people using genuine problems, as an excuse to do just as bad, if not worse.
@@elderliddle2733Don’t religious people (specifically Catholics) use their religion to justify bad things? Like homophobia for example

How can anyone force slavery on others. Especially children. Horrible.
