As a school kid going to school to Milsons Point from Chatswood we would often get a ride in the Red Rattlers drivers cab. If the train was packed the drivers often let passengers be in the drivers cab area. Very different times in so many ways. So many memories here especially the sound these classic trains made.
There is no way that could happen today. Oh how times have changed. Thanks for sharing. 😃
Really enjoyed this video It would be extremely hot for you though imagine it would be a bushfire in there mate the sounds were beautiful good job on doing this video Barrie !
Hi Mransairdude, it actually is pretty cool upfront especially with the doors and windows open. Thanks for commenting and watching.
@@trainspottingwithbarrieno problem mate will you be driving s28 or w3 for transport expo?
Now that’s what a real train sounds like! Thanks for posting Barrie!
Hi Andrew, my pleasure, I'm glad you liked it.
Hi Barrie 👋 I think it's inspiring to see so many young people with their cameras and capturing this train from so many points along the way. I like to see them because it makes me appreciate more what was once a regular and only way to ride the Sydney System to school and work. Excellent presentation Barrie, well done 👏 👍
Like yourself, I love to support the next generation of rail enthusiasts, much has changed since I was doing it as a young guy but I still see the passion and excitement there in the younger guys/gals.
Wow, changed so much from 50 years ago. The old familiar whine of the Traction Motors hasn't changed but.
Hi Graham, especially around Tempe. Thank for watching
I used the East Hills line for the best part of 20 years but this is the first time seeing it from this prospective.
I'm glad the video was able to give you a different perspective. Things do seem different from this angle. Thanks for watching.
@@trainspottingwithbarrie no, thanks to you mate
Must have been a hot day for you Barrie as I noticed some WOLO boards out. Sorry mate, didn't last past Sydenham due to all the background noise, I like to enjoy the rattles and sound of the traction motors. I see the terrace house at 14:07 on the left is still there, used to be a woman who sun baked topless in the backyard there in early 1980's, she didn't care about the freight train crews looking down into the yard! Leading car should have been a designated "Quiet Carriage"...😆
Hi Dave. The sound of the video annoyed me as well, unfortunately that was the best recording option on such a busy tour. Yeah it was very hot, there was decent air flow in the cab though. Thanks for watching what you were able too
@@trainspottingwithbarrie Air conditioning unheard of when they were built for the suburban system, people are too soft these days.
Excellent video
Hi Mels. Thanks a lot.
Which trip was this one on?
One of the many lol.
Probably been 40 years since I used to drive along that line lots has changed
Certainly has changed a heap.
Same thought here David, I last drive that track in 86. End of the line then.
Great vid ..but please ... can we get over this "HETS" thing please.. it's just "HET". 25 years is enough...😉
Hey Paul. Thanks a lot. I sorted it out. No problems. Thanks for the feedback. 👍
