this song was mainly written by hyunjin who struggles with over working and becoming obsessed with improving to the point that it is actually harmful, which is where the inspiration for this song comes from. chan struggles with this too, as he and the other members always say that he works on their music 24/7 and usually forgets to sleep. i love how skz songs all have really powerful and deep meaning but are hidden under a facade
their music can be applied to so many things. for example, red lights is about obsession and work but as you said could also be applied to a relationship too

Bang Chan has written that Song about his perfectionism, which he would like to let go but at the same time he knows he can't live without it either. It discribes the toxic realationship between this feelings
Hyunjin wrote red lights Chan contributed by translating the parts into English and lowering the tones of the words

Nah ~ Firstly, Bangchan asked Hyunjin if he wanted to have a collab or sth and he said he want to. Then Bangchan brought Hyunjin some soundtracks 💖 After working with these, Hyunjin came up with some more and Korean lyrics. Then they've spent JUST SOME HOURS together *incredible:)) to complete this piece of art that Bangchan fixed and added English lyrics✨This was also toned down a lot too:> and to be honest, I want to hear the original *wasn't toned down one 😂
Hyunjin is the best dancer of 4th gen K-pop he definitely stands out

Yes Hyunjin is a highly skilled and well trained and versatile dancer. He is definitely one of the most intuitive and creative dancers in kpop. His ability to keep showing improvement, to keep building on his technique and gaining skills in several dance genres is extremely rare. He deserves all the credit in the world for working that hard, to go from no dance training to being professionally trained in several different genres and recognized as one the best dancers in kpop. His ability to choreograph different styles and create stories that actually make you feel what he wants you to feel. He is such a rare talent, an amazing and flexible professional dancer, a captivating performer, an emotional choreographer, he really does live up to the Kpop performance leader title.
Chan is also a great dancer, he is also quite flexible in the styles of dance he has been trained in. His vocals in this track were top tier. Him and Hyunjin need to do more duets bc their voices work so well together

I love how quickly you find the deeper meaning in their songs. Not gonna lie, STAYS were *not ok* when this came out. The visuals were off the chain (heh, see what i did there...), but the message about not getting sucked into obsessive behavior stood out to me.
I always love listening and reading their lyrics because most of them have deep meanings. This song is about their relationship with their work and how it feels like an obsession.
Here’s some of their quotes from the brainstorming session in Howl in
Harmony:
Chan: "Sometimes when I'm finished with my schedule, and I don't need to work on anything, I just go to my workroom without even realizing it. My body just takes me there. I arrive there and sit on the chair and I'm like,
'Why am I here?' I feel like I have to do something. My body keeps on moving and the project file is open. This happens a lot."
Hyunjin: "I'm fond of music, dancing, working on projects and everything. However when I'm not able to handle difficulties that come with it physically and mentally, the stress I get from that situation? You know, the obsession with having to work hard all the time? That kind of stuff...
This was just an initial brainstorming session, but if we listen to what Chan said about the song on ASC, we can see that these ideas carried over into the final product and still apply: "It's about, you know when you have those times when you really don't have to do something, but you're like, ah no, but I have to do it. Without even you knowing, you move to do that, and everything... So, that's what we wanted to say. And I guess the genre of the music is kind of, a little dark and, like, it's a bit-" [Hyunjin interjects: "SEXY!"].
Overall most people interpret it as a toxic obsessive relationship, which at first I thought that too, but once I watched their Howl in Harmony episode I realized it was much deeper than I thought. I do like that the song can have a double meaning though. The way they write their songs is absolutely amazing and the more I learn about the meanings behind their songs it just makes me love them even more! And I’ll never get tired of listening to them!
I like your interpretation of the song and the way you talked about taking care of yourself and walking the path to getting through a relationship like that.
The way you explained this is 🤌. Many people only see the surface of the song (which of course SKZ knows that'll happen) but I love SKZs way of putting double/deaper-meaning into everything ❤. They are truly brilliant 🥰.

this song and mv's concept is so so interesting, and it kinda breaks my heart that people often reduce it to just "hehe sexy song!" (which, fair? people can interperate music however they want! but chan and hyunjin DID intend for this song to have a much deeper meaning, they're just masters of making art with double/multiple meanings and get a kick out of teasing fans).
in my opinion, they way they use the imagery of bdsm and tense relationship to represent this feeling of being Literally chained to something toxic (in this case, the compulsion to constantly work, even when its potentially damaging to you) is SO clever and beautiful. they personify this compulsion perfectly, and i wish it was appreciated more.
Right? And this is exactly how they explained it in Howl in Harmony. Director used sex as the metaphor rather than the other way round.

i really recommend watching some of stray kids' KINGDOM legendary war performances (it's a competition between a few different male kpop groups from 2021)
the best ones to watch are i'll be your man, god's ddu du ddu du du, and wolfgang
skz actually won the competition too even though hyunjin wasn't able to perform due to his unfortunate hiatus
All the members work so hard. Bang Chan works on their music 24/7 He barely sleeps most of the time, he sometimes forgets too eat. During some of the performances Bang Chan was extremely sick and had a serious medical condition but he still gave 110%. Lee Know works hard on creating the choreography for most of the songs. He even did a 4 song performance with other K-pop idols and he ended up collapsing after the last song due too exhaustion. The early days of the Maniac era, Felix suffered a herniated disk but still went on stage every time, even tho he couldn’t dance to most of the songs, he still gave 100%. When they were filming the music video for “Circus” he was already suffering from his back injury but he still danced. I can only imagine the pain he was in. During the 2022 MAMA awards Hyunjin had to sit down in the middle of the performance so he could rest. I.N even collapsed at the end due too how exhausted he was after the performance. Every member works so hard and it shows.
Hyunjin actually said in a live where he reacted to this, that maybe it‘s a little bit spicy… A LIL BIT Hyunjin🧐🧐🧐!??

Additionally, this MV is not just a love story *as everyone usually think when they watch this ~ it has many different stages of meaning, and all of them are supreme 🔥 As I remember, this MV can be illustrated about their fear, the dimension in which Bangchan and Hyunjin are one and they are fighting each other *themselves lmaooo ~ even though they can not exist without another one *I think this is the best to be honest 👉🏻👈🏻 it's like a mental health problem of losing themselves, too stressed with work..etc.., a love story of course *yandere asf and quite reminds us of "50 shades of grey"😍, a story between a dracula and a hunter based on a legend*this is f*cking gud too 🤌🏻💖 Arffff this piece of art just deserves moreeeeeee
Watching this and hearing their explanation of the meaning of the song. Well, I have to say, I think there is an entirely different meaning that they can not divulge. First, the lyrics are pretty straight forward. The Chains and S&M ropes/choking are very straight forward. I feel they knew exactly what they were doing. These creators are very intelligent. Also, as we are all aware, K-Media is unforgiving so a topic like this must be explained away as meaning something entirely different (it about overworking and etc...) from the obvious connotations to something entirely unrelated. The meaning can be interpreted how stays like, but let's not dismiss their efforts that might be buried under propriety.

I normally don't compare groups' members, but I'm doing it anyway, because I'm not afraid of sharing my opinions: basically, he's giving off the vibe of two of my other biases from two of my fav groups. Mark Lee from NCT and Yoongi from BTS. They're all so damn hardworking and it makes me feel weird because I'm the opposite of the three.

That's the beauty of Stray Kids music, though. They quite literally leave the meaning open to interpretation by trying their best to keep things like gender and direct references out of it, such as never saying their intentions they had when writing it, by giving the MV its own meaning that's independent even from their own original one. They make sure the fans can apply it to their own struggles, without the song itself interfering with that.

In the same album there is a song called surfin with Lee know, Felix and Changbin that is also a good one.
They mainly wrote the song due to the fact they're obsessed with becoming better at what they do. They're 'chained' to their careers. Of course, they can't sleep since they've become so successful; hence the lyrics on the moon. Being a K-pop artist is hella stressful, and they managed to put all of it into one song. Then again, they try and make is seem as though it's an average song floating about the web, when it's really about their struggles.
Of course, as a recent STAY since January of 2023, I noticed the lyrics as soon as I listened to this song. Stray Kids, ATEEZ, TXT, OnlyOneOf; they're only young adults, not absolute perfectionists who constantly look for the better in their career. The constant pressure is absurd. Not to mention the insane fans that try to touch them or simply get a graze of a touch by them... IRRESPONSIBLE ASSHOLES.
