Sometimes we ordered Palmyra beer, a delicious local brand... (sigh... nostalgia...).
I do not think that the restaurant you are talking about exists now. I have not seen a restaurant with this name in Bab al-Faraj. Most of the hotels and restaurants in Bab al-Faraj have not returned to work.

I remember also having been invited in a very old restaurant which was in a stone building, in a courtyard of a classical arab mansion below the street level (we accessed by a stone stair) and for the first and unique time in my life I ate some stuffed little birds wrapped in vine leaves, " 3asâfîr ", in arabic. In french they are called "ortolans" and it is a proverbial word used to symbolise the utmost of delicious and aristocratic dish ! I ate one but I am not a fan of game meat and I could'nt forget that those were poor sympathetic small birds (who by the way are eaten whole but the feathers...
