Many protestors appear to be wearing masks so doesn't seem as though they've forgotten about it. It does seem as though they've all decided that the fight for racial justice and equality is worth putting themselves at risk.
And the authorities are acting - imposing curfews, riot police in the streets, calling in the national guard. Rioters are being arrested, but perhaps all of that isn't captured in this 3 minute video.

There are other ways to preserve history and remember. Books, videos, even songs.
The statue can be replaced by a simple tombstone, a slab of text. Its erected and stay tall seems to indicate they are great men, which after present revision of racism they are viewed not to, so they have to step down.
The big salty Hitler was a Important part of german history, but guess what , THEY DIDN’T PUT STATUES OF HIM. You don’t need statues to remember history, thats what books are for, statues represent someone who did good for that country or area and wasn’t a horrible human being.
It's possible to remember the history of racism without having to celebrate it.

As meaningful as it is to oppose symbols, statues and histories of hate. Destroying or banning them rather than holding them for what they are as a reminder will only lead to future generations having nothing to teach them these lessons to prevent it all from repeating.

hate to say it tho, i don't think we will ever reach that point. people have been protesting racism and police brutality since the 1960s and tbh, yes there are prob over million protests going on right now in over 45 countries including Canada etc, but i dont want to say this but this incident will happen again, i swear, in the next 2 years or so. its never stopped and it will never stop until world leaders can get INSIDE the system and FIX it from there and make long lasting changes.
if people really were serious, racism would have ended after the MLK riots but still over the last 50 years, racism, riots and protests are happening every single year and this year is just the straw that broke the camels back. in the next 2 years and 4 years, same thing, over and over again. it's a trend. people never learn. they can be dark and can be very stubborn.
we can protest over the world all we want but it's all temporary. what would be the best way is to go inside the system itself and fix it and enact PERMANENT changes NOT TEMPORARY changes. this is why these incidents, riots and protests keep happening every year and noticed with this trend, NOTHING is resolved. its keeps repeating itself over and over again no resolution. nothing is actually working right now.
and here during a big global pandemic we now have a BLM, racial based global protesting pandemic! So two difficult issues to resolve now instead of just one.
