Like in many other arrangements, Dimash melds sacred music traditions of different cultures and ages into something uniquely his own. In this piece, for example, you hear Turkic throat singing - the ancient song of the steppes - creating the foundation while Dimash’s melismas soar high above it. The music of ancient cultures often used chants, overtone singing, and melismatic techniques to induce a hypnotic trance in the listener. Dimash is not only aware of the power of music to alter one’s state of consciousness, he wields this power masterfully but with great respect, like a shaman using his voice, body, and instrumentation to transport the listeners to a higher plane of existence. The inclusion of the traditional Kazakh flute, called a sybyzgy, adds to the tribal vibe of this song. His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and is also steeped in Kazakh folklore. Together they create magic.
He sings “I love you” in three different languages: first in English, then twice in Mandarin, “wo ai ni” and at the end, in Kazakh, “men seni suyemin.” What he whispers at the very end is “fei chang gan xie” which is thank you very much in Mandarin, to which you appropriately replied with an enthusiastic :Yes!"

Welcome! Who is Dimash Qudaibergen?
Dimash is born in 1994, May 24, height: 1.91m; 6'3 '. He has been training in music since he was 5 years old. He is university-educated with degrees in classical/opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. Dimash also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition. He graduated with honors’, having achieved a perfect pitch. He has composed 12 of his own songs so far and is currently working on his doctorate. We have to call him soon Doctor Dimash Qudaibergen. 😃
Dimash plays at least 7 instruments, traditional dombra is a must in his family. He speaks Kazakh (mother tongue) and Russian (without accent, second language in Kazakhstan), is learning English and Mandarin (dancing and Mandarin are difficult for him). So far, he sings in 13 languages. He trains his voice for 3 hours every day, has a perfect pitch.
Experts consider Dimash a lyrical baritone with a typically long range. Some believe that he sings his high notes not as a countertenor, but as a natural soprano. He is the first singer to sing all 5 voices: bass, baritone, tenor, contralto, soprano.

Cindy .... I accidentally found him also, four years ago. I was watching a Queen reaction and the reactor mentioned his name twice so I had to check him out. I haven't gone one day since without a minimum of two hours devoted to his music.
Does any true Dear accidentally find him? I think it's fate.😊 Also don't we all have a story, " I first heard Dimash when.." a before and after Dimash moment we'll never forget. There is no other artist that I was first struck dumb by in this way.

You just witnessed the greatest vocalist of all time. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 13 different languages, plays multiple musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "SOS" 2017, “Sinful Passion “ 2018 and then "Stranger" 2021. Believe it or not, he’s only gotten better. Dimash made this song his own, the music arrangement is beautiful!!! The flute called Sybyzgy - made of reeds or wood 50-70 cm with 3-5 holes, is particularly common in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Dimash did a sold out concert at the Barclays in New York in Dec 2019. People from 44 different countries or more flew in to see Dimash in person. Dimash is Muslim and his grandfather/daddy is an integral part of their local congregation in om Kazakhstan.
Dimash grew up hearing and singing and chanting these sounds.
When you see Arab people reacting to these sounds he makes, they say he is better than any cleric in Arabia.

Lady Luck, I was having a rough day and your very enthusiastic response to Dimash put a smile on my face. He’s the best voice I’ve ever heard. And it’s not even close. Enjoy your journey! A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿 Edited to add: Dimash has been training his voice since he was 5 years old, when he noticed the family piano was out of tune, when an entire household of musical couldn’t tell. His grandmother walked him into the top vocal school in Kazakhstan, where they don’t accept children, and they particularly don’t accept children of past students (his mother was a student, she’s an opera singer) except he was so good and he has perfect pitch, which is rare. So they took him, and he has been training since he’s five- he is 28 this year, so that is 23 years of studying and he takes it very very seriously. He has multiple university degrees, including two Masters degrees. He is now doing his PhD in music.

There are many legends and traditions associated with sybyzgy. In these legends the instrument is called a "living reed", because this strong, hollow stem, makes amazingly deep sounds.
The whole life of Kazakhs is imbued with music, it sounds in ceremonies and rituals, in everyday life and at holidays. Listening to the sounds of dombra, kobyz or sybyzgy, one can understand the history and culture of the Kazakh people.
It was easy and fast to make a sybyzgy, but it was very difficult to play it. Sybyzgy kuis (Kui: sung stories) were most two-voice melodies: the first voice came from the instrument and the second voice was the throat singing of the musician-performer.(www)

👍 Merci pour votre enthousiasme. Vous constatez avec raison que vous avez découvert là un artiste totalement (quasiment) ignoré des distributions mainstream. En effet l'industrie musicale est structurée comme un business qui doit être maîtrisé et rentable. Cela laisse peu de place à la créativité en général. Mais avec internet les vidéos circulent, traversent le monde et si l'on accepte de sortir des sentiers balisés on peut découvrir comme le monde est vaste et riche.
Dimash fait partie de ces artistes que l'occident peut découvrir essentiellement avec internet. Un seul CD à ma connaissance, des concerts (dont 1 à New york en décembre 2019) , 1 concert virtuel pendant le covid mais des centaines de vidéos circulent dont peuvent profiter le public qui l'apprécie . C'est pourquoi il est important de choisir les vidéos parmi celles de sa chaîne youtube ( Dimash Qudaibergen)
Pour information Dimash , qui a le projet de se faire connaître aux USA, a participé en 2019 à un show télé " the world's best" (très formaté, du marketing ...) mais alors qu'il était déjà dans les 3 meilleurs concurrents, a choisi de quitter le programme. Pour quelles raisons ? conflit de valeurs ( Dimash ne veut pas concourir contre des enfants, et on lui avait garanti que ce ne serait pas le cas. Mais cela s'est produit. Alors il est parti)
Bref, tout ça pour vous dire, que le business n'est pas toujours compatible avec l'éthique et l'honneteté. Dimash, grâce à son entourage, son éducation, l'expérience de sa famille dans le monde musical, se montre exigeant et indépendant. Il a crée sa propre production et veille à s'entourer de gens de confiance.
Personnellement, je ne souhaite pas que Dimash soit récupérer par l'industrie musicale. Un artiste ne doit être un produit, je veux qu'il garde son indépendance, et peut être faudra-t-il du temps pour que chacun ait la chance de l'écouter et le voir en concert, mais il faut être patient. Je suis confiante, Dimash est quelqu'un de très volontaire, confiant mais il sait construire un projet et sait la valeur du temps. Il a dit dans un interview à la question de comment il gère son stress alors qu'il ne boit pas d'alcool :" les Kazakhs ne sont pas des gens stressés" .

Lionel Richie liked the appearance of Dimash, his son-in-law was in the audience and was filming. There are 2 other performers you saw in the shots of the contestants backstage who are worth checking out. The first is Hua Chenyu starting with the song "Nunchucks". There is a channel called Hua Chenyu Eng. subs for his songs. Another person they showed backstage is Tengri or Tengger, from Inner Mongolia, whose song "Heaven" is probably like nothing you have heard before. If you Google "Tengger Heaven English Lyrics" , you'll find the best one.
