  • The horn stopped working and I didn't want to replace the electronic module. The wire in the video is dark green with a purple stripe.

    Just did this today. 2004 Chrysler Town & Country. Worked perfectly. So easy, and what a simple fix.
    Only thing I would say is, mine did use the purple and green wire, but where I had to put the jumper wire into the relay slots was opposite of this video. It was the UPPER LEFT. Horn works, and the horn still signals for the car alarm when you beep the remote.
    I used solderless heat shrink tubing for the connection, then electrical tape. You just push the wires together inside the tube, and use a heat gun. Very easy. You can buy them on Amazon.
    Thanks a a million for a great hack! Now my 3 year old son can't say, "Dada... honk-honk is boken! (Broken)" 🤣

    Thanks so much for this video!! My chrysler dealership was telling me to consider buying a new vehicle because replacing the module could cost over a grand for the part itself. Low and behold, I attempted this fix and the horn blew on first try. Major relief cant thank you enough!!

    I just used this video to fix my 2007 dodge caravan’s horn. Before I fixed my van, my horn would not sound from the steering wheel. However, it did sound when I pressed the panic button on my keys. So if your vehicle has the same symptoms, this video should work for you. Just make sure all your electrical connections are correct and contacting. After I fixed the horn, the panic button still works along with the steering wheel.

    After 3 years of trying the "clock" the relays fuses ect, finally found this video! I refuse to go to dealer, as I grew up in the 50s and 60s, did all my maintenance my self, cut cars up, rebuild them xke 3.8 4.2 Holley 4 barrels 283 chevy blocks Etc. I'll struggle not to go to someone else!Thanks sooooo much! Worked for 2007 caravan, the only thing on mine to test the horn it was upper left and lower right.Bob

    just want to thank you ... just bought a 07 T&C the owner didnt tell me the horn was out but he did hit the lock button on the key which made the horn blow so i didnt think that there was a prob with the horn itself but low and behold the horn wouldnt blow via the steering wheel so i did just what you did and it worked i felt like a million bucks by not spemding a dime on the fix ... KUDOS to you and your VIDEO keep'em comming

    Great fix for this problem. Just used it on my 2002 Gd Caravan Sport. Thought of trying all the other suggested fixes but this seemed the most reasonable to fix a horn that can't be activated by the steering touch pad, but works otherwise

    Great, clear directions, easy to follow. Unfortunately, when I applied the procedure to my 2006 Town and Country, the horn button still did not work, but now the horn does sound as soon as I put the transmission into reverse! I guess that the "dark green with a purple stripe" wire that I found was not the one I needed.

    thanks! my horn was inop (2005 T&C) and the airbag light was on although cruise controls were fine. I did the clock spring (airbag idiot light and no horn are classic symptoms of the clock spring having gone bad I guess, although often the cruise control buttons also go wonky). Anyway, after clock spring, airbag light is out but still no horn. I did this mod and my horn works again AND it still blows when locking with remote! Although jumpering the pins where the relay sits did NOT fire it off, I did the mod anyway and it worked!!

I replaced the clock spring, there is no airbag light, and the horn works with panic and unlock but the steering wheel button just doesn't work. I'm trying to do your method right now, except my horn relay is in my dash. Can you help me find out how you knew which wire would be for the horn?

I got the horn to beep when I used the jumper cable and though this is it. but when i did the mod it didnt work and I couldn't get the horn to beep again when i jumped it again. But when i put the realy in and pressed the horn you can hear the realy kicking off and on. Go figure,.

    are you saying the dark green with puple where it connects at the back of the relay socket is bad?
    I think all you are doing is bypassing the connection to the bottom of the socket straight to the relay pin
    that would have been connected normally? I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.8L. Horn stopped working.
    If I applied 12v to the horn it works. A local shop is telling me its the Clockspring.
    I want to make sure I understand what your modification is doing. Your saying that wire is not making contact
    to the back of the socket not making contact to to the relay. You ran a jumper to the same point the green/purple wire
    should have been making contact too? Would this setup be the same for a 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT 3.8L?
    If I press the horn at the steering wheel and can hear a relay kick in would that mean I have the connection?
    In my case the criuse control works and I don't get a airbag warning message. Thanks, Ken

    • @n1kkri
      @n1kkri 8 лет назад

      +Ken I changed the clockspring and that didn't fix it. What I can state is if I press the Panic button, or press
      the horn at the steering wheel I can hear the relay click. Shortly after replacing the clockspring the horn started
      working. The next day it stopped working. Any thoughts?

    • @n1kkri
      @n1kkri 8 лет назад

      +Ken can you tell me what wires go from under the fuse box (the wires you show) to the horn. Maybe
      the power or ground from their to the horn is bad.

    • @mjbop1
      @mjbop1  8 лет назад

      +Ken Maybe the color is different on your van. You can test the wire with a continuity tester. Connect one lead to the wire and the other to ground. Press the horn button. It should show ground.

    • @n1kkri
      @n1kkri 8 лет назад

      +mjbop1 I believe I have fixed my problem. I had 2 problems.
      I changed the clock spring and now I can hear the horn relay clicking. I have voltage at the relay that feeds the horn.
      I went though the pain of removing the horn again and did not have
      power at the horn. With the horn out I added 2 jumpers to the the horn wires up to the area where the horn relay is. I grounded one side
      and the horn started working. Its been working now for a week.
      However I have had it work for a few days then it would stop.
      If it does quit I will solder the the other wire to the output of the horn
      relay and now I have my wires totally bypassing the wires going to
      the horn. The key thing was now I have voltage at the horn relay output and the horn did not work so I knew the problem was somewhere in between the output of the relay and the horn.

    • @one4t
      @one4t 3 года назад

      One side of the horn switch is grounded. Pressing the switch completes the circuit applying that ground through the horn switch, clockspring and connects through a plug-in connector to the integrated power module (IPM) or (TIPM) via the dark green wire with a purple trace. It goes through that connector which is soldered to a circuit board and to the horn sense switch pin 17 of the socket for the front control module (FCM). An output (pin 10) of the FCM feeds that ground to pin 85 of the horn relay energizing it and closes contacts 30 and 87 of the relay thus supplying power to the horn. Connecting a jumper from the dark green wire with violet trace to pin 87 of the relay bypasses the FCM and all connectors and circuit board connections in between within the integrated power module (IPM) or (TIPM). If the relay clicks when you press the horn switch, this repair does not apply as the relay is already being supplied with a ground in the way intended and is functioning normally. So, this fix only applies if your horn switch, clockspring, horn fuse, horn relay, horn and wiring are all good. This fix will not get the horn to blow with the key fob if that also isn't working.

Should of told you the horn did work, but not the way it's suppose to, the steering wheel button doesn't make it go off, putting the van in reverse makes the horn go off. Help please???
