Usually, the "AmyDarleyEffect" is me watching you and then charging off to get some procrastinated projects started. Today, I started off with my trainer and upon returning home, straightened up the workbench in the garage, weeded the front yard flower beds, trimmed and thinned hydrangeas in the back yard, took a shower, started the long-awaited closet cleanout/reorganization, and sat down for my lunch at 2:30. AT WHICH TIME I opened RUclips and found this video was up. So, I must have anticipated the "AmyDarleyEffect" without realizing it. It's always fun and inspirational to watch you work, lady. :)

It's a little relief when it's an easy pickup around the house😂. We have a 14 year old boy and a 10 year old girl. We usually do a birthday party, we let the kids choose the activity whether it's at the house or some place. IF the want friends to spend the night , they can only choose 2 friends. We did 5 one year and that was chaos 😂. Then we do family dinner with close family. Kids get to pick what the theme is for dinner. I know it may sound a bit much, but I love celebrating birthdays ❤!!
You work very hard for your family. And for us making these videos. Thank you! Sometimes our efforts to plan summer fun feel unappreciated, but my adult kids commented the other day that they loved the summer memories we had. (I am a teacher.). We did a birthday "party" every other year for our kids once they were in elementary. The years that we didn't host a larger birthday party, we would take 1-2 friends out to dinner or an activity like mini golf. Each child and family are different, so just do what works best for your situation. Happy summer! And don't feel like it's a countdown with just a few left since your son is now a teenager. We just finished a beach trip with our adult kids and had a blast! It's nice when they can pack themselves and buy their own souvenirs. LOL

Happy 13th birthday to your son! 🎉 Sounds like he had a great day! 🌼 I gave them the choice of going to a restaurant or having their favorite homemade meal, gifts and b-day dessert for their b-day’s 🌼 It’s sad how kids feel better about themselves when they make fun of other kids-it’s sad as those kids that take the time to make fun of other kids are ones that don’t get the attention they need from their parents and know how to be genuine and nice and find these ways to try to get attention in a bad way. 😢 I feel your parents raised you well, as you’re such the sweetest and kindest person with such a gracious soul 🌼

We give our kids (8 and 11) a choice between a party and cash. They usually pick cash and then we have a smaller family party with aunts and uncles. Works in our favor because parties are too much these days.

We leave for vacation next Friday! I can't wait! We are from Ohio and go to Fripp Island every year. This will be our 9th summer vacationing there. I come from a huge family (7 siblings) so we all go together. There are usually around 30 of us total that make the trek. But NO, we do not all stay in the same unit lol! My husband, kids and I get our own unit. We did go into Savannah one year just to sight see. It's beautiful there!

I always had a party for my daughter until about 13 or 14 then we just started doing shopping trips instead of
Growing up, we mostly had a party every 5 years; so 5, 10, and 15. But other years, we would get to puck what we wanted for dinner and dessert as a family.
Our girls have had one almost every year; sometimes only a couple girls, so not always big. Sometimes we've done a big party, a sleepover, a family trip, and a couple times we did a double birthday, as our girls' birthdays are 1 month apart.
I love that!!! My kids are about a month apart too but of course they want different things being boy & girl 🤣 But I have decided these years fly by so fast and I am going to just keep throwing them parties! 🎉

Taking today to tackle some stuff around the house ! I did laundry and Decluttered a bit! Tmrw our local spray park opens daily so we’ll be going there! Friday we have our mom’s club book club get together so the kids can swim at my friend’s house! We’re having a heat wave in Jersey so it’s been so hot !!!

I was the same way growing up with clothing...we got what we could afford. Our son just turned 13 the end of May and I still can't believe I have a teenager too. We don't do parties every year but the birthday person gets to pick the meal on their big day. This year our son picked a home cooked meal.

Your video was a nice surprise today! And happy birthday to your kids! My oldest is 26 and still likes a big birthday party, he used to try to invite the whole school. My middle is 23 and not a social person and hated birthday parties so none for her. My youngest is 17 and is a good mix of both. So I guess my kids kind of decided when to stop, or not stop 😂, the birthday parties.

My daughters 5th birthday is in mid July and was going to plan a day trip of going to the zoo, then have cake and presents after. Kind of limited on options because she doesn’t like loud noises but we make it work! 😅

great video! I always love coming home from vacation to a clean home so i will definitely be doing a get it all done on saturday before we fly out early sunday morning. as for birthdays, I do not have a party every year. i have a 13(D),11(D) and 9(S) yo and between the three of them....i've had a total of 7 parties. i pick and choose favorite years...or big ones. We celebrated these ages for each kid. oldest daughter was ages: 1, 7, 10 and 13. my middle daughter: 7, 10 and my son: 8 and his next one will be his 10th. We are deep into baby step 6 with DRamsey so my kids know and understand and are very excited to get our home paid off by 2027 so we are temporarily making good decisions where we can. to have this goal and have the kids excited and willing to also help is soo exciting for our family! :) we still go out to eat for every birthday and cake but as far as full on parties, those are selective. tfs!!🙂
Hey, Amy! Thank you for another great video, and Happy Birthday Caycen! We typically just chill in the summer after baseball/softball is over (we're usually run down so we need it, haha) and just do little fun things close by or in our state throughout the remainder of the summer. Sometimes we go out of state, but rarely...We did yearly parties for our kids, but once they hit 10, and kind of with our 3rd child, we've slowed down or stopped parties and just have family dinner or maybe 1 or 2 friends over a night...Have you heard of Tara Leigh Cobble? She is so awesome! Anyway, I purchased her book, "The Bible Recap", and I look forward to starting it, probably next week!

I am back from our vacation last week on Saturday night from Aruba..and few days later we went to camping with my family and now that we r back yesterday i did finally clean up our room it was so messy

Well, I think I can tell you this. It's fine to have a 13th, birthday and a 16th birthday because after it seemed like I was 16 birthdays. Kind of stopped. It was just me and my mom and we go eat. But I'm the only child and I never had children but if I would've, I would always made sure up to 16 that they had what they kind of wanted.❤❤❤

Our son turned 30 this year so he went on a cruise . Our twin daughters will turn 29 in August.
My kids in high school for birthdays my girls will invite others to a dinner at a restaurant. I’d say 10 girls and we’d pay for appetizers and drinks. Then they invite 2 friends over to stay after. Our boy liked buffets with friends and movie but after 8 th grade no parties or sleepovers with boys.

You won’t see this so late after posting but you need to do Daily Grace Co Bible studies. They have an app. Also have a podcast❤️💕You won’t be disappointed. Good doctrine and so pretty!! They don’t just sell Bible studies either. I prefer books of the Bible studies but they have topical ones too.

Thank you for always being so modest with your clothing choices. PS, next time you have a wrinkle item, toss in a slightly dampen sock or washcloth into the dryer with the item on high for five to ten minutes. The dampens from the small item will pull out the wrinkles in the item you need unwrinkled.

Birthdays: My sister and I switched off every year on who got a “big party” of friends vs. family only. (Except if it was a big milestone bday). The cost of a bday for one kid nowadays can get pricey.
