I have been slowly world building a homebrew D&D setting. I didn't F up the Moon, but I did make everywhere have auroras at dawn and dusk, not include humans, and made Sun Wukong one of the 12 Gods. He's worshipped by Goblinoids he "liberated" from Maglubiet. There's also a rabbit goddess of the night, moon, secrets, intimacy, and LGBTQIA+ rights.
