Thank you for having the courage to speak up about kindness! Well said! I love it when you let us see you work and you talk to us as you're working. I learn a lot!
Thanks Patti, your feedback means a lot! 😊 I often think of filming myself more often while working in the garden, but wonder if it’s interesting enough. Perhaps I should do it more. 🤔🤗
So glad I found your channel. We should all plant kindness everywhere we go. Jenny, over at Gardening with Creekside, only recently said that if there was ever a time when we needed to show grace to one another, that time is now. Thank you for the sanity. P.S. I love your shirt!
I’m glad you found my channel too Peggy! 😊 I love Jenny’s outlook, and she’s so right about showing grace these days. My husband got me some fun t-shirts with gardening sayings that are a bit too true. 🤣
LAURA ❤🧡💛 Your message on planting kindness hit hard this morning! THANK YOU for providing a place of support, information, kindness and good humor. I always appreciate the back and forth we have on rose woes and hydrangea affections. I planted my pinky winky prime this summer because of all of your helpful and beautiful videos on pinky winkies ; I am highly considering renaming my beautiful pinky winky prime to Laura in honor of you 😹! Sending lots of garden love & kindness from West Michigan ❤🧡💛
Thank you so much Elise, and here's a virtual hug! 🤗 So now we can compare (and hopefully be super happy with) our new Pinky Winky Prime hydrangeas next Summer and thereafter! 🌺 I really appreciate your friendship here - it means a lot. 💕
I always feel sad about getting rid of a plant, but if it isn’t making me happy out it goes!! Planting kindness--- great advice❤ I only subscribe to 5 garden channels. Glad yours is one of them🙂
I agree with you Mary: it's never easy to get rid of a plant, especially after years of hoping things will improve! But in this case, I finally convinced myself to replace it with something I love and something that will behave! 🤣 Glad you liked my talk about kindness, and I truly appreciate your subscribing to my channel. Our time is so limited, especially when watching RUclips videos, so it really means a lot that I'm one of your 5 garden channels. Thank you! ❤️ 🤗
I just spent the day planting 13 new shrubs around my fire pit area & I honestly love them all so much! 4 of them were Pink Gatsby Oakleaf Hydrangeas (yes, I gave them plenty of room to grow! 😊) I LOVED your thoughts on kindness. You were spot on! I love your channel & look forward to watching your videos for a long time time to come! 🍁🍂🥮🎃🍁🍂🥮🎃🍁
What a great planting day you had Mary, and your fire pit area is going to look amazing! I love the Pink Gatsby Oakleaf Hydrangeas and still hope I can find a spot for at least one. They are stunning. 🌺👍 I’m happy you liked my thoughts on kindness, and I’m glad you’ll be watching (and hopefully commenting) on my videos going forward. ❤️
Oh no. I just ordered lavendar chiffon rose of sharon. I guess I can return it.i also removed rose of sharon that was reseeding everywhere this year. Also removed miss kim lilacs since they were unimpressive.
Oh I don't know what to tell you, other than I just can't recommend Lavender Chiffon, for all the reasons I mentioned. Perhaps the Dark Lavender will be better, or the other colors like Blue, Pink or White. (However, I'd try to poke around the internet a bit and see if there are other gardeners who have these and what their experiences (with seedlings) have been. Just a suggestion.) 🌱🌱💚
Kindness and humility indeed, Gwyneth! 👍❤️ I have a Helene Rose of Sharon, which I adore, that was specifically bred to not produce viable seed. Every year, nice and neat for years. Until this year. We had seedlings that looked like a fairy garden-sized forest there were so many! 🫣 I was shocked and disappointed. ☹️ However, since it blooms non-stop most of the Summer, I’m willing to keep it and just cut the dried seedheads off this Fall. (I used to love keeping them on the shrub for Winter interest, but not anymore!) 🤣
I’m so glad you’re enjoying them! 😀 Pinky Winky is my all-time favorite shrub! I have the Little Lime Punch too, and really wish I had room to plant more of them! 🌸🌺
Good morning Mike from north Alabama I got several panicals love them they got to get some afternoon shade here in the south is that burning bush behind you we can grow them most talks your lucky to get a smolder then burning look lol but yess kindness goes a long ways I try and help people with plants that never did landscaping before but I tell them take your time enjoy your garden
I agree Mike, as even here in southern New Jersey, the panicle hydrangeas appreciate some afternoon shade. You are giving new landscapers the best advice: to take their time and enjoy their garden! 👍
I almost was going to keep my Rose of Sharon in a pot, but then I quickly realized I’d still be pulling seedlings up around the pot. 🤣 I have enough weeding to do already, so I don’t need more. 🙂
Great outlook. I enjoy your videos because they are calming. Now in regards to green leaves there is something I also add to plants other than iron is EB Stone Sul Po Mag and it has given great results, I thought I share that with you.
I’m glad you find my videos calming, as that’s always my goal, even when things aren’t the best in the garden. 😊 Thanks for the recommendation on the Sul Po Mag! I started poking around their website, as I hadn’t heard of it before. It sounds like a great product, so I appreciate you sharing it! 😀
@@GardenSanity You are a great lady. I live in California, but I wish I lived close by you, I just feel you could have been a great friend to hang out with, have a cup of tea and chat. Have a lovely weekend.
I certainly appreciate your channel Laura. Your knowledge and advice are always delivered with the best intent. I have looked at Blue Chiffon and the Sugar Tip Rose of Sharon, love them both. Have you had issues with Japanese Beetles on your variety? That has been my only hesitation. Every year during July they are ALL over my dwarf crape myrtle. Just don’t know if I can withstand another plant in my garden that the beetles are drawn to.
Thank you Allison. That means a lot. 🤗 I haven’t had issues with Japanese Beetles mainly because of treating our property (when we had grass) for grubs, those worms that turn into Japanese Beetles. 🪲 We had them badly when we first moved in eons ago, and after a few years of treating we only see a handful each year. The hard part, of course, is if your neighbors don’t treat for grubs, the resulting beetles can just fly over to your property. 🙃🙂
Look away!! That's usually my first reaction when I see anything horrific in my garden - hoping that when I look again it won't be as bad as it looked. 🤣 Have you had drought conditions in CT like we've had here in NJ? It's been unreal, especially after all the rain during the Spring and Summer. We're using our sprinklers so much this Fall just to keep everything from drying out.
@@willaerley7140 Don't laugh: I've read on some chat forums of people spray painting some shrubs green. I kid you not! (And no, I don't recommend it.) 🤣 Mother Nature is not happy with us for some reason. I don't know why she'd prefer to look at browning plants and shrubs. Seriously.
Thank you for planting kindness...it's amazing how it multiplies once it gets started! 💕
So true Vicki! 💕

Kindness and humility!👍🌱 There are some newer Rose of Sharon that don't seed. I have pulled out seeding varieties at my house and my parent's house.

I have had my Pinky Winky about 4 yrs now. Such a beauty and have two Limelight Punch hydrangea. Love them both

@@GardenSanity same here. Just managed to purchase two El Niño Chitalpa. One is quite small but the other larger one has produced some gorgeous blooms
Oh I’m jealous! 😀 My El Niño grew a lot in its first season, but no flowers yet. I am really looking forward to seeing them next year. 🤞
WELL SAID
