Little story ⬇️ So I am a competitive dancer and I have a dance called “Black and Blue” because, the main lyrics are “ I will fight, I will fight for you. Until my heart, is black and blue.” (You may have heard the song before). The dance is about a girl who is in a hospital because she is deathly sick (most likely cancer, we were never told). And the four other girls including me, are her friends and they are trying to cheer her up. Another quote from the song is “I’m not giving up, giving up, no not yet. Even when I’m down to my last breath.” Our teacher is always quoting that and telling us to give the sick girl our “last breath” or “your energy” stuff like that. It’s funny that this dance is like the dance moms dances “living with the ribbon” and “black and blue” combined.
I once saw a dance and it expressed so much emotion, three girls were the ones on charge. One was dressed beautifully as if a wedding. Another was dressed like a goddess, and the last was dressed like the other goddess but her outfit was black and she had crying makeup and a bruised face. I could see everything happening, I don’t watch much dances but I understood the dance completely.

What a strong woman! She must have fought hard against such an illness. I hope things like this happen more, because some bodies are just too weak to fight it, and it’s unfortunate and devastating… I hope, one day, we find a cure. And I believe we will. One day.
I’m doing a dance this year to “we didn’t start the fire” all of the lyrics in the song are headline of newspapers so the story we are trying to tell is how we are tired of all of this being shoved in our faces when we didn’t even do it. There was also one I did awhile ago called “the system” it was about fostering and how the kids keep going to new homes often and they are angry how they can never stay.
I’ve done all of these and I deeply enjoyed preforming them, despite their deep, dark meaning. The topics are sad and deep, yet the dances had extreme meaning which can bring joy to spreading awareness yet doing what you love.
Wow!!! I just noticed that all these dances had Maddie as the lead... I mean she is wonderful and the dance "living with the ribbon" has immense meaning to me as a family of mine passed away from cancer too.... 😢

They didn’t cry probably because the dance didn’t have as deep meaning to them but they still knew what it was about . It was just another dance to do to them
maybe bc they are young ? when i was younger i would never cry at movies who showed someone sick and dying or losing their husnamd / wife. then i got older and i started crying seeing those types of characters.

i know nothing about dance and i've seen like 3 shorts on my tl but the thought of figuring out how to tell a story entirely through fluid movements and dancing is so enticing. maybe i can convince one of my teachers to let me do this for my final instead lol

I had cancer in my left arm i had to do chemo,because of the chemo my heart has developed something so now im getting SOME pink,green,white little medicins
The mental health one means a lot to me because as a kid I have always struggled with my mental health. Mainly because of my family members, but it caused a lot. Thank you ❤️
The cancer thing is really sad to me because my grandma had to deal with cancer all her life and she was my everything i didn't even care about my own mom as much as her (me and my mom have a perfect relationship) and it sucks that i was 5 and 6 years old knowing she would pass away and having to deal with it. Edit: and the mental health thing too because im really struggling with that
The last one resents me because my mom grandma said I was gonna get therapy and that I have autism and that really hurt my feelings but I made sure that it wouldn't get to me now I'm self-confident and I believe in myself
I did a dance for competition. The theme was “All Fun And Games” which was supposed to imply the opposite- that things like words and physical touch can be hurtful, as well as the internet, People, etc. the dance I did was on s*xual harassment through social media and real life.
Ok, I'm a ballet dancer, and I will say dances have so much meaning in them, it's fun doing the dances though, just not when you think about what's happening

I once saw a dance and it expressed so much emotion,
