Thank you and I love that your talking soft and not too high pitched or low pitched...I usually close it out if go to the next speaker if they don't know how to speak into the mic properly lol You gave a good all around tutorial, not all of it sunk in because I'm brand new to the game but I'm saving this and will come back to it several times as I grasp the concept behind it all.
Because many people feel overwhelmed by how different crafting is in FF14, I actually find it better to focus on level 15, just to get their foot in the door. I tend to recommend WVR first because of how many people feel about the RNG. Careful Synth might be outclassed later, but early on it is a godsend. I tend to recommend CUL as the second, because CP is really short starting out and free Quality attempts are nice. For that same "CP is in short supply" reason, I recommend ALC as the third class to 15. I also recommend a few classes for those interested in making their own gear. Mostly WVR, (progress/control gear) and GSM (CP accessories). WVR lines up with grabbing a useful cross-class skill, and jewelry is often not sold by NPCs.
This information is still quite vague and yes their is craft classes you should do in order. The first being LTW since at 15 you get waste not, the single most important skill to get as a crafter period. Followed shortly by CUL for hastely touch, which brings crafting on its own to whole new levels. An finally ALC to 15 for Waste not, this will save your ass quite often with the 20 CP boost from good condition. Once you get these 3 to 15 get the rest to 15 in the order of your own choosing for an achievement. If you intend to go into advanced crafting, you will need at least the following lvl 50 Cross Class Skills: (1) Careful Synthesis II from lvl 50 WVR (2) Byregot's Blessing from lvl 50 CRP (3) Ingenuity II from lvl 50 BSM (4) Innovation from lvl 50 GSM (and hopefully Steady Hand II from lvl 37 CUL too!) The remaining lvl 50 Cross Class Skills are also very important, but at least with the above 4 skills, you will be able to construct a basic "Byregot rotation" BSM and WVR are extremely important to level to 50 first since they make your crafting gear. Followed by CUL to 37 for steady hand 2. As for food if your starting out I recommend. Salt Cod - 15 gil for 4 extra control, plus faster leveling! Why not? Stone Soup - 37 gil for 17 extra CP, plus faster leveling! This maybe a better choice over Salt Cod if you know how to utilize your CP. I prefer Stone soup. Also your retainers should support your crafting, have 1 support your gathering, either BTN for WVR or MIN for BSM/ASM. The other Retainer should be whatever your main class is so you can later have that Retainer collect/hunt creatures to make gathering mats much faster. For those you can afford it, its ideal to have 4 retainers, 1 your main class, 2 your BTN, 3 your Miner, 4 support your main craft. so for most people who can afford it, that would most likely be 2 miners, a hunter(main class DOW/M) a botanist. Oh 1 last thing, for retainers, your ITEM LEVEL is what matters if they are a Hunter the better the IT the better the rares they bring you. For the Gathering types they need GATHER stat high as possible :) An finally, Many people don't know, you can actually buy extra unique untradable mainhand gathering/crafting tools (blue background tools, obtained from guild masters by completing lvl 50 class quests) from the Calamity Salvager. This will save you alot of effort at 50.
So new to the game, was wondering If I just want to get light into crafting, should I still need to get those 3 to level 15 for the skills or can i just level BSM&WVR straight to lvl 50?
+Grandpa Tofu it would be worth getting them to 15 as soon as you are able for the skills IF you want to make crafting easier. It is possible to level to 50 without if that is just too boring to do.
+Grandpa Tofu I don't do any of the traditional hq rotation stuff, i have made more than enough gil to keep me in gil, predominately from housing and glamours. for housing its beneficial to have armorer's 50 piece by piece, it gives 1/3 of your progress. additionally because there are fewer armorers and alchemists there is less supply, greater demand, more profits. I really suggest finding a niche and using it to your advantage. If you can fill a demand that nobody else is filling you just found a way to make a lot of gil. Its my experience people at the top make a lot of gil, its also a lot of time and effort. you can make good money early off linseed oil, horn glue, metal plates, etc. and don't need all the best equipment. armorers do make some crafting tools that sell for more because everyone is going the blacksmith/weaver/leather route. .
This is my first real mmorpg and i am loving it there is so much to do i have always played rpgs but its amazing all you can do and i am so confused on alot off things but that's y i love it so much i find something new everyday and it jyst pulls me further in i am like totally addicted to this game... is great
Btw another tip for beginners. Buy the exp food. You can just get Frumenty from a vendor for like 6 gil (or make your own) if you just want a basic simple one that gives extra CP for the extra exp.. There are of course better ones as you get higher in Cul as well.
+Work To Game Happy to help. :-) I actually prefer this kind of crafting... WoW style crafting of watching your hands come together then go apart again while a bar filled up 100 times was agonizingly boring...
My first class was Thaumaturge. In the Thm storyline, Cocobusi becomes an alchemist to help him become a better Thaumaturge. I thought alchemist would compliment Thm, it didn’t really, but I was fortunate in that I think alchemist is the best crafter class to begin with. First, the cross class abilities are essential and they are among the most useful of any crafter. Second, every class uses potions, and most potions are crafted 3 at a time. Crafting 30 HQ metal ingots would take forever, whereas crafting 30 HQ Ethers or Potions takes no time at all. I began as a PS3 player when ARR first came out and it was very beneficial to be able to make 15-25k gil every day from level 15-20 alc items. There doesn’t seem to be as many players as back in the day and most don’t buy level 15 potions anymore, but it allowed me to alwaya have some coin in the beginning. I still believe alchemist and culinarian are two of the best crafters to start out with.
As I commented in another video: Being such a Crafting System addict in MMORPGs, I felt a little disappointed in FFXIV. Sure, the puzzle mechanics are AMAZING and I love it more than any other Crafting system I ever played! But, it's sad to hear people saying "it's better for you trying crafting classes only after achieving Lv. 40/50 with your combat class, it's not worthy leveling early than that". Also, when you get Crafting in early levels to make gear for your own combat classes (Lv.10 onwards), you feel you don't need it, because all the gear found in Dungeons are far superior. Because of this, the gear you produce in the early crafting levels inevitably go to trash, I don't feel anyone could ever buy them (even HQ ones), so you "don't need" to invest that much time and gil (and this is why people say you don't need it early).
i found your audio very low. but i enjoyed the guide. i would add maybe a basic rotation in? and maybe say CUL / WRV / CRP are propb the best ones to level first for the cross skills
I know I'm a year late but I'm hoping this will get seen.. is there a chance for a video on rotations and proper use of of the cross class abilities. I've almost got every crafting class to 15 and wondering if there is a better way get a boost to my leveling by utilizing a proper rotation.
exactly the video i was looking for. im trying to earn gil for a house (hopefully) and was told to google crafting. I have dabbled a little in crafting (goldsmith) and gathering (fishing, mining). Though right now, id like to just focus on making gil and not making items for myself. Im still a bit confused as to what road to go for supplying leves material but i'll look into that. thanks for the content
So much good information. Thanks for putting this together! Quick question though: If I change the FC's Active Action while it change it for everyone in the FC and put it on cooldown? Oh and tip for beginner's you can pay for extra retainers by a monthly fee. I think it's #3 a month per extra retainer but I could be wrong. You start out with 2. I don't personally have extra ones yet so not positive on that price.
Yeah, I love the fact that they reward players with cosmetic items for extra time played but a third retainer for a third year or something like that would be a great idea.
i've only started playing ffxiv a few weeks ago and i can't seem to find any information about getting red scripts..i've found guides on how to create them, but not how to unlock being able to make them. specifically i'm after Bouillon Cubes which require red scripts to buy, but i can't seem to get my hands on them. can you help?
Work To Game my friend has to peer pressure me to do story progression because I get lost in my addiction of crafting haha 😂 what serve r do you play on?
+Mitchell Gumm sargatanas and that’s really funny. It is why I️ warn people to cap a class before trying other things. It’s easy to get distracted with such a broad game.
+edrick1976 well welcome to ff! This guide will need to be adjusted slightly for stormblood. If you want to try crafting just to try it pick one and level it. Culinarian is pretty straight forward. Yes there are theories on which one is best but if it's just to try something new I wouldn't get bogged down in that level of detail at first.
just remake the video while playing the game. 1 this video is boring as fuck because your just sitting in your room talking about the game and doing a few pop ups now and then. this guide was garbage. the title means beginner guide so the people that just are starting wont know jack shit about what you are saying. id rather listen to the dry eye guy than you. at least he was amusing.
Yep, and if you then pick up Amoror you'll be able to repair a lot of gear. Third would be goldsmith to help repair your accessories, and then also leatherworker.
Work To Game I left out that his guides take a new user from level 1 to master of the hand. I got the name wrong, he calls himself mithrie. He even has some great macros to make crafting an almost one touch affair
Talking about desynth in a beginner guide is not wise. There is a lot of info to dump when it comes to crafting, main ones are blacksmith and weaver. Weaver (WVR) makes gear and Blacksmith (BSM) makes tools, weapons. Step 1 level weaver or blacksmith to 15 make gear for lower level craft classes level up repeat. Step 2: find a rotation and use it. (Optional Step) do dailies with Battle classes I.e. warrior, dragoon then buy gear from Market.
+sibrand100 thanks. This guide is com big up on due for a refresh so I appreciate any ideas people have as I try to put together what that should look like.
Work To Game I do not mean to criticize your guide, simply that it's called introduction not refresher...so I made the mistake of assuming you were targeting new players. Great information just a lot for people coming into the game to understand when they don't have access to half the tools your discussing
the more i read these comments and hear him talk in this video. I get the impression i can't just play 1 class and craft? I need to make every single class once? Also the fact these things aren't called jobs is just more confusing. :P
Theres no point on crafting since you can buy Armor, Weapon that you try to craft etc. Ive read a lot of people saying for gaining guil ok? I can make guil on side quest, raids and defeating enemies, I want an all out explanation on why Crafting is important, and other question does the game have enemies that drop rare items???
why would I want to craft lol every mmo I play the first thing i ever do is start crafting I'm not a huge fan of pvp and i'm a horrible raider but man I love to craft
Thanks! We may be coming back around to tough all this given time but they should hold up for getting started just the same.
when it comes to this channel they AWAYS HAVE THE ANSWERS i’m looking for 😍
Thanks!

I'm surprised you guys haven't done/considered a rotation guide. That would really help out players.
Is this video still relevant in view of the most recent changes?
Nice vid. FYI, 14:14 Everquest 2 was very similar with the quality/durability mini-game and using skills to counter fluxes.
+Work To Game Happy to help. :-) I actually prefer this kind of crafting... WoW style crafting of watching your hands come together then go apart again while a bar filled up 100 times was agonizingly boring...

+chris szablewski glad you liked it! Crafting is a big world so after you dive in let us know if you get stuck
So much good information. Thanks for putting this together!
Quick question though: If I change the FC's Active Action while it change it for everyone in the FC and put it on cooldown?

+bodysnatcher256 yes. Let me start putting together a guide. They are needed for end game and it would be good to go over how they work in stormblood.
I did 5 levels at a time with each starting with t he gathering and then I could cross all the equips and buffs and mats together 😁
+Mitchell Gumm that’s a huge inventory saver as well as money and gear if you have the patience. Awesome!
Work To Game my friend has to peer pressure me to do story progression because I get lost in my addiction of crafting haha 😂 what serve r do you play on?

Work To Game sooo true haha I play in Japan soo I think we can't play together 😂
+Mitchell Gumm ya that would be quite the cross server distance lol
Should I wait till I'm lol 50 and done with MSQ, to start crafting?
hey just found ur channel and new to ff14 only criticism I can have for your Channel is mic volume
I just started the game and this makes zero sense to me.
Don't worry. Crafting is just super convoluted for no reason that's why its not a popular thing in FF
just remake the video while playing the game.
Yup... as an "Introduction" video this makes no sense at all.
+Hardivh what questions do you have?
love the vid would much love a quick move straight to the actual information so i can skip all the "why should i craft" stuff
+JMan Gaming thanks for the feedback!
In this video you sorta sound like Ion Hazzikostas the game director of WoW :p
What is good for a Lancer? I heard woodworking/blacksmith is good cause you can make your own weapons...?
Yep, and if you then pick up Amoror you'll be able to repair a lot of gear. Third would be goldsmith to help repair your accessories, and then also leatherworker.
@@Work2Game Yikes! that's alot lol. do I have to level them all to cap. Thanks btw for the response.
Check out a youtuber named Mythry I believe, his crafting guides are spot on guaranteed to get you to master crafting levels.
+Phanbot01 thanks. This guide is more geared at beginners I’ll take a look.
Work To Game I left out that his guides take a new user from level 1 to master of the hand. I got the name wrong, he calls himself mithrie. He even has some great macros to make crafting an almost one touch affair
Did you really have to switch sides every hard-cut?
I have my volume on high and I still find it hard to hear you on this video unless I have the phone to my ear... 😒
O: your house. My tiny apt in maine is jealous. T.T

+sibrand100 fair points. I will try to break it apart even more next time and if you or anyone you know has any questions just ask. Thanks!

Why not screen capture, and voice over? kthxbai
I can't hear
“Because A L I E N S”
Can somebody teach me how to play?
Theres no point on crafting since you can buy Armor, Weapon that you try to craft etc.

+darkdragonsoul99 I really like this crafting system. Can't wait to start hitting 70
too be honestly I've never played the game was just looking into the crafting just started a free trial
+darkdragonsoul99 well welcome!
cute
Don't forget to mention how mind numbingly boring and a GRINDING hateful chore it is in this game to craft
You gotta craft a lot to level up crafters? Wow, what a shocker...
If you don't like to craft, don't be a crafter?
+cosmosofinfinity lol but some want that repair!
You lost me after 3 mins of talking bout nothing. You’ll get much more people to come to your channel if you start getting to the point.
