It's crazy how he asked for an attorney after admitting to all the horrible things he did to the woman who gave him life, but answering why was too much for him. This emotionless being is too dangerous to be in society.

Totally agree, most interviews last longer than 2 hours the fact that this one didn’t even make it to an 1 hour it’s crazy!! They didn’t even ask the correct questions, like asking him about his video games is not as important as asking him why or trying at-least to make him answer more questions.

He gave his address to 911 only AFTER he checked the apartament door number while still talking to the 911 operator. There's Ring video of that moment. You can't expect him to remember that door number almost 4 hours later, when investigators ask him.

the apartment complex was most likely located by pinging the phone he was calling from. The dispatcher only needed apartment number at that point.

The fact of the matter is that no one knows what was going on behind those closed doors. You don’t know that his mom was a loving nurturing mom. It also appears that his mom could’ve also been a teenager when she had him. We don’t know what their relationship was; healthy or dysfunctional. There is evidence of some dysfunction; even if it’s only his.
A friend is NOT someone you’ve “known” for three years and never actually met. You’ve only seen his face on a screen. I feel bad for people who live their lives through screens. I was lucky enough to grow up hanging out with friends and I miss that time.
Knowing someone in person is not the same thing as having far-flung online friends. That is true. But that doesn't diminish the friendships. There are strong real years-long friendships between people that may not even share pics of their own real faces. The compartmentalization of it appeals to many people and actually makes a lot of friendly exchanges possible.

I live in Miami where this incident occurred. Supposedly the gossip is that his father was extremely upset that his mother left him and started a family with another man, and turned their son against her that lead to him murdering his own mother.
Ahhh- that may begin to explain certain behaviors in both this kid and some of his remaining family members. What was the REASON he committed this horrific act? Who coerced him? Who was he proving what to? Horrible!

Step father had nothing do to do with it. He was in GA, he had a wife with 2 daughters in Cuba that her father petition to bring to US 9 yrs ago. It was just now that she was able to come.. unfortunately this tragedy happened prior. The step father was with victim 5 years she was aware of Cuba family. I feel like this kid just didn't get enough attention as a child and felt like he didn't matter, like he had no purpose and so he just did something crazy to go away forever. I'm 57 and I recently lost a case because I couldn't understand the fine print in a settlement agreement. This line of questioning on a minor should not be allowed. Yes, he's guilty of killing his mother, but even the most heinous of killers have rights.

they went over his Miranda rights very thoroughly, he made it clear he wanted to talk. He also spoke to the 911 operator which is a recorded confession. So he has rights, and he exercised them

It should be against the law to question a minor without a lawyer. They dont understand what theyre talking about or the tactics they use to make them confess. I dont care what anyone does, they should be afforded the same rights as grown adults, but it should be MANDATORY for minors to be accompanied by a lawyer when question about any crime theyve partaken in period.

You cannot be presumed innocent if you willfully and unknowingly give up your rights in order to appease the imposing, and intimidating force of authority. You shouldn’t be lied to, shouldn’t be coerced, into giving up your rights, ESPECIALLY as a child. Do you know why we have these rights? So that innocent people aren’t wrongly sentenced. I’d rather see 5 guilty men go free then for one innocent man behind bars. The cop made two big mistakes in this interrogation. First, he should have avoided using the word kill, and used hurt. Secondly, asking the kid "why" did you "kill" your mother comes across as confrontational even if you're not raising your voice, and the person will usually shut down - as what happened here. Instead the cop could have asked, "What lead up to this?" Or, "How did you come up with this decision?" The kid may have continued to open up more.

He had to go find a piece of mail with the address on it. The 911 operator told him to do that.

This is all around a super sad situation! This kid committed a heinous incomprehensible act. However, the police assisted this kid with side-by-side personal attention so carefully, gingerly and with so much accuracy in concern, by wanted to make sure this kid understood his rights. You know this same kid never got that same attention with mental health or with school education! The worst part about it, is you know they’re possibly a million more like him! 😢
it's too soon to judge, we don't know the WHY and the full background of the story. A kid doesn't just wake up in the middle of the night & decides to kill his mother in a bruthal way. Either something is evil in the kid or theirs more to the story we don't know about on why he did what he did.
