Man talking about being in a rut.
This is my first year mobile hunting public land here in lower Alabama and I have flat out struggled. I’ve had 3 does in bow range and couldn’t get a shot off due to brush.
That’s what makes it so difficult down here it’s just so thick everywhere the deer can bed wherever. Anyway hoping I can make happen these last few weeks with rut starting soon.
Also this is no doubt one of the best hunting channels out there, just a matter of time before it really blows up.

Very nice. Deer was totally repositioned by the time the arrow got there but was positioned just right. Glad it worked out for ya. He folded like a dove in flight.

The reason that buck dropped and turned was the distance of shot and his head was down. On a 40 yard shot a deer hears the string and has time to move. When a deer has its head down it works on a fulcrum driving the body down.

👍👍Congratulations on a nice buck ! !!! It’s amazing how far he dropped ! Something I learned last year, there has been extensive study on deer ducking the shot, and everything shows that a deer drops less and not wheel near as fast when there head is up ! When there head is down eating they are already in the right position to duck and spin. When there head is up they are taller and have to drop their head first to duck and spin ! Therefore it’s best to shoot when their head is up !! Check it out watch some videos on ducking the arrow and you can see what I’m talking about. Watch the difference it is amazing how many more misses when their head is down !! I haven’t had one duck my shots the last eight I’ve shot since learning this ! Take a look ! Thank you for the tip, it makes sense if the head is already feeding, then the deer has a better chance of spinning and ducking at the same time. I will shoot when the head is up.

The deer in the south are harder to kill especially the big ones and that’s just a fact. I’m getting ready to go hunt some of those Midwest deer here in the next couple of years I ain’t gonna know what to do being able to move and make a little noise while hunting and still feel like I’m going to see deer.
I live an Hunt here in South Mississippi also an to see a Big deer like this took with a Bow gives me hope that maybe one may walk by me at any moment . Main camera is sony ax 53 use GoPro max 360 or GoPro 9 with mic mode and a tactacam 5.0 on weapon a lot of the time.

I hunt the sip as well and to kill a very mature buck isnt easy in most areas, but it can be done just definitley not as easy as Ky and the rest of the Midwest, congrats! Hopefully one day the gun season will be cut in half or at least be broken up in week or two week spurts

How long have you been shooting Mathews?My first Mathews was a DXT was going to get the drenalin but bought the DXT. Then was going to by the vertix ended up a year later with the VXR 31.5 it has to be the smoothest shooting bow I’ve shot. It’s a lot heavier than my DXT but it’s super forgiving.
This was second season with Mathews he started with a Hoyt.

Kudzu is nearly impossible to get rid of. Its also one of the best things for deer to eat in the summer. Higher protein content than soy beans
