I think the question is really about how the specs of the cable rail system works with post spacing. If a 4” ball can’t be passed through each cable, how far apart can the cable be tensioned to ensure it doesn’t flex enough to allow the ball to pass through? That’s the question I can’t find the answer to.

A well-tensioned cable railing system that is comprised of cable spaced every 3 inches, with intermediate posts space every 4 feet will not allow a 4 inch sphere to pass through and will pass most inspections in the states.
Your state/county might differ from national code so, if you are getting your project inspected, get in contact with the inspector and ask how far apart cables should be and how tensioned do they expect the system to be.

Glad you enjoyed it! Haven't made a video about that specifically, but here's the general concept. You'll mark both sides of the intermediate post, drill halfway into the post from one side, and then drill the other side's set of holes. The trick is to drill the holes so they meet in the middle. It helps to mark the angle of the run on post and have a friend eye-ball the angle you're going in at. You can also ream out the interior of the hole to give you a greater chance of the holes meeting.
Thanks for the comment. We'll definitely address this technique in a future video!

      @@HAASCableRailing,
Thank You for reply! We followed your instructions on Your video at Perkins build and the repeat of same video by Perkins! We were using 5/8 rebar horizontally. We made holes on end 6x6 post deeper to slide rebar deeper in upper post to clear lower post then slid rebar into hole on lower post!!!! Drilled both sides of interior 4x4 post as per your instructions! We couldn’t have done it without your videos!!!!
We watched your interior cable videos as well!!! Thank YALL from Northeast Georgia Mountains about hour and half south of where that build is.

I’m currently looking into doing this for my log cabin porch. If I was to send you a sketch of my porch with dimensions, would you be able to point me in the right direction as far as what I would need to purchase? Thanks
