I didn't know there was an 866Mhz version but I can't imagine there would much difference in performance being that close in frequency. I am happy with 915Mhz other than I may need I higher power unit for more distance. I hear there is a 1 watt version available.
Having problem getting the telemetry radios to connect to each other. Both are flashing green. The air radio also has a red LED flashing. They are identical radios. Each one alone can connect to Mission Planner and can download settings . But cannot see each other. Got the right ports and baud rates. Any suggestions?
hello friend would like your help, I do not I install 3DR, on my computer, I'm using Windows 7, no driver install automatic, already downloaded the drive FTDI but not worked, I would like to know how you installed on the PC the USB device . thank you
Hello, I know it has been awhile since you did this review, but I am about to build my first quad. I use the fatshark goggles and would like to see the telemetry as I fly. I will be use the APM 2.6 and the Flysky radio that came with my IRIS+ They are using the D4R-II receiver which puts the telemetry on the screen. If I follow what you have here will I have OSD on my goggles? and is the telemetry that you are showing v1 or v2 Any help would be very much appricated. I have not ordered the receiver as of yet, but do have the APM 2.6 Thanks
I have the Frsky Taranis radio which is capable of telemetry. However I don't use the radio telemetry because it is already displayed, as you said, in the FPV goggles or ground station. The APM does this via the MinimOSD module connected to it. My videos have all the information about it.
Dave Merc Productions I know this is old But does the 915 radio have the splitter cable to the Minimisd and a Video transmitter , as otherwise how would you get the video feed As well as live telemetry to let’s say your PC / laptop
friend managed to install the drive, the radios are working properly (solid green light and red flashing), when I enter the MP and configure the COM port and 57600 when I click Load settings can not connection. I do not have the connector FTDI I think I'll have to buy, what do you think.
First make sure the APM is NOT connected via USB because this will make the radio link fail. Instead power the APM from the battery only. Also make sure the MInimOSD is either powered-on (working) OR disconnected because it will interfere with the Telemetry radio because they are on the same bus.
Friend, I am not using the USB cable along with the radio, not yet called the OSD, I am using only the LIPO battery and the RX connected to APM ... do not know what to do thank you
I've been wanting to buy the APM 2.6 and it comes with telemitry radios at 915Mhz for an extra $100. Would it be a better deal to get it with the telemetry or set it up as you did here? Thank you. Your videos are very helpful. Subscribed!
I think it is a good thing to have the telemetry radios but you might find a better deal somewhere else if you look around. Try this: witespyquad.gostorego.com/flight-controllers/readytoflyer-2-6.html
I have no clue but it does run about $158 once you select all the options. Still that is a good deal. A friend of mine got this package and it seems to work well for him.
***** Its a great deal, but still pricey. My second options would be the MultiWii NanoWii ATmega32U4 or the KK2.1.5. Have you had any experience with any of these boards?
Hope you don't mind if I butt in for a second guys,. Dave, would you maybe help me out and send me a photo of the Y cable ? I can make one for much less than the 36.00 it would cost me to buy from 3DRobotics. Yep, shipping 32.00!!! Just can't do it. I ahve been so busy with video production and now I have lost a computer with all my files on the hard drives so I have to get an old mother board up and running and access my file remotely. I am sending you a letter re the Arduflyer and UART pins.
I do like the informative nature of your video, however, your constant fidgeting with the wires and connections is VERY distracting. It seems like OCD and sort of gets in the way of the information you're trying to convey. Not trying to be a jerk. Just making an observation that you may want to consider in your next videos so that your information is conveyed and not ruined by distracting fidgeting.
Thanks for all your help!! Took the dive into this knowing nothing!! Your videos are much appreciated.
Daniel
Glad I could help!
Very thorough, thanks for your time spent
looks some split Y cable OSD/RADIO have a plug that doesnt fit in amp 2.6
someone else noted that?
I wonder if the 3dr 915Mhz radio is better than 866Mhz. I live in Canada , 915Mhz is the allowed frequency here I think ,same than in USA

Since they work on the computer, may be something with the wiring to the APM or Configuration on the APM.
can we just use the telemetry wire. if we are flying with out the telemetry

Chris Bridges Wow I didn't realize that was a problem. Sometimes less is more, lol.
