    I almost cried when I heard about your mom. Fk Parkinson disease. You and your mom are strong! I'll be permanently moving 24 hours away to Toronto in 4 more months, away for the first time in my life from my mom. It's my dream to move there but the thought of not seeing my mom and dad for at least 5 years makes me so scared now. Anyway, hope you and your mom had a great stress-free time in Taipei!

      Aww… You making me want to cry. Enjoy the time you have left with your parents! They want more than anything for you to pursue your happiness. Remember it is just a temporary good bye as you’ll see them again. They will always be part of you no matter where you are. XOXO

    I think for EVAAIR's website, it does have info about MEDIF or something called MEDA which is advanced notice made to the airlines and attach the doctor's note with passenger's condition in detailed and whether the passenger is okay to travel or not. They also have Medical Team in Taiwan would review the form and approve whether they can take a passenger with medical condition or not. Even it's approved, upon check-in at the airport, ground staff would check the passenger's condition to ensure the safety and comfy of passenger for the flight. Hope this info helps and enjou your trip! :)

      Thank you I understand about the MEDIF form however my mom has Parkinson's which is not part of the list of possible medical conditions may restrict air travel. The person at check in was not experience and thought it was. He said he needs a doctor's note stating my mom was fit to fly. If it is the case, wouldn't every passenger need a doctor's note stating they were fit to fly before they fly. I inquired with many doctors and they did not see any issues or heard of their patients needing to fill out MEDIF form for flight clearance. The doctors see no issues why my mom would be unfit to fly like the person at JFK implied. They encourage me to take my mom on trip as they think it'll be good for her. When I requested the wheelchair assist I filled out all the necessary information and I always take my mom for all her check ups with her doctors prior to any travel to make sure no issues. They were all surprised my mom would have any issues. This is why after I requested for them to speak to a supervisor and once they asked, told their supervisor about my mom she was cleared without any issued. At the same time I was on a phone with a doctor and he informed me non of his clients needed it for their travels. Throughout the rest of trip; I would tell the check in staff about my mom's pre-existing condition and none of them had an issue with it or asked for MEDIF form. Everyone told me I just encounter a person who didn't know but cause alarm on travel risk. In the future, I may request her doctor to provide me a letter on her pre-existing condition and how she is fit to fly to avoid running into another check in employee who is unclear on it.

      Yes, I understand it sounds so inconvenient to you and your mom. So sorry to hear that. It's true that a big company, may not be able to train all the staff especially some airlines hire outsourcing agents to do their check-in procedure abroad which those agents may not be familiar with one airlines' policy than the other. Also, some staff is more careful who just assumes the worst and do more steps in order to ensure the safety and comfy to passengers. Afterall, airlines staff is not medically trained, so I would say it's always good to have doctor note and proof on hand in case necessary for review. Thank you for your experience sharing :) @YRealEstate

      Sorry, I am not familiar about what’s food is allowed to other countries. I think most countries require you to fill out a declaration of any food items you are trying to bring into the country. You should check before trying to bring in any food items to another country.

    if you can get and book ahead for premium economy and it would be better for your mom... the premium economy arm rests does not go up just to be aware of it... or book 2 economy side by side on window side... you in the middle and mom on aisle... the arm rests from economy after the exit rows are able to move up so it make a bit more room between the 2 of you

    • @schanNYC
      @schanNYC  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for the feedback. I booked us both aisle seats in the same row this way if my mom needs help I can get up right away and assist her. In the past, I would book my mom the aisle and I get the middle seat and it was very difficult to help her up. I would need to climb over her then get her up. This time when we both were aisle seats it was much easier for both of us. I was able to grab the carry on luggage and etc without bothering anyone else. Whenever my mom needed help up; she just tapped me and I was able to get up right away. If we were both in the window side it wouldn’t work as we would need to disturb the passengers in the middle and aisle seats. At times when my mom does need help to the bathroom, I need to be able to get to right away. We were fine with the standard economy seats. In the future, I hope we’ll get the chance to try business or first class for the long flight.

    Is the weather rough? Turbulent?

    • @schanNYC
      @schanNYC  6 месяцев назад

      It wasn't too bad. Overall the flight was pretty smooth. Flying during the winter months there will be some turbulence but I thought the pilot did a great job maneuvering through it.
