- Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, cyber defense has become ever more important to NATO. But NATO members have been honing their cyber defense skills in large-scale exercises since 2010. This year, Locked Shields is coordinated from Tallinn in Estonia.

Outstanding information!!! Without DW News we wouldn't hear a single word about this in the USA media.

Let’s go NATO!
Well done. Good reporting. Go Ukraine.
.
Nice to see NATO has finally realised where the real battlefield will be fought over the next century, more of this please!
true warriors
NSA observer: that's pretty good security. Now can you put a backdoor in that?
To everyone that is saying "finally": Locked Shields is being organized since 2010.
Also, the attack team is not the Green Team. The Green Team is part of the organizers. The attacking team is the Red Team.
Finally.
It's about time this started. It should help a lot.
I think your supposed to turn it off and then turn it back on again
Own fibre-optic, own cable, own particle accelerators, own satellite. Own plug.
Cool!!
That's cool and very important
Very cool 😎 thank you all for participating in this
How did it work?
I imagined it to look like a big LAN-party.
NATO ♥️
I thought he had a really nice desk👍🏻
❤✊NATO 🫡
Actually the green team is NOT the OPFOR. Red team is the "attacking" side in cybersecurity.
is it possible to have any 2 or more switches that are connected by single mode fibre, (have fibre splitter to force RX (leave TX disconnected) of a media converter this way it is forced UDP framing and if forced into a loop will give a timed out response and elimates (TTL Dead On Avirral "fire dancing/jumping to look for juniper wall from memory" tactic)
just connect your pc to the media converter, so it has no return address or mac if the RX is disconnected for ip vanish if you assembled your packets
Good, Iran should have never been allowed to cyber attack a NATO country like Albania 🇦🇱. NATO must consider cyber attacks as dangerous as physical attacks if not more.
Finland won the latest Cyber Defence Exercise of NATO, interesting to see if they'll win again

Russian don't need all this complicated cyber attack,😂 they simply cut cable under water 😂

My gamer brain: how would actual gamers perform in these types of games? 🤔
Depends.
You would obviously need to have a deep understanding of cybersecurity and digital warfare in order to be useful, but if you have that, it may if fact be possible that some of the skills gamers often develop may be useful.
For example, one of the most important talents any hacker needs, is the ability to think of ways of abusing a given system in a manner that was never intended. This is more or less the same thing as exploiting bugs or loopholes in the mechanics of video games.
No at all. These are professionals.
Gamer overestimates the abilities of gamers 🤔. I've played so much CoD I'm practically an elite soldier.
The timing 🤣
What about it

With a no rules cyber war. Who's using AI & who is lying about using it.
Idk much about hacking but this seems really smart
Most of it is done through social engineering(example: sending you a deceiving email with files or links that download a virus or ask you to input critical information like user and password), it’s not done through software “attacks” any more.
So is the US sharing the AIs it has developed for cyber defense? Or any of its advanced cyber technology? SURELY NOT..
I had a friend work in American cyber (offense) once as a consultant - the things they are capable off are worlds ahead from anything we do in Europe but in order to show our weaknesses they would have to outline how they circumvent them - just take 2013 for example when snowden revealed how the US had basically violated and circumvented European cybersecurity for decades - citizens, companies, even governments were breached and illegally surveilled (technically an act of war)… the exercise is not very fruitful if the US doesn’t share and I doubt they have any interest in actually sharing

How do you simulate an entire country's IT infrastructure?
Virtual machine software has been around a long time. It's used for real systems too. One physical hardware computer machine can simulate many computer servers or entire networks, or just about anything you want. AWS and Microsoft Azure are entire infrastructure as a service. Entire IT industry moved to this over past two decades. All of it is just electrons manipulating zeros and ones. Off and on.
@@GungaLaGunga Not unless you are replicating all the various flavors of routers and end servers and latency etc. of actual IRL networks. Otherwise you are just getting an approximation which is fine if you are just practicing coordination of effort, but can create a false sense of security if you think its a realistic test of resilience.
@@obsidianjane4413 Of course a simulation is not the same as the real thing obviously, and it is just an exercise. But you can learn a lot from doing testing, training, and simulations.
Companies with ciritcal IT infrastructure have their own cyber security teams which do these simulations on a regular basis, for example energy suppliers.
In packet tracer, of course!
For this exercise to be meaningful the defenders would have to consist mostly of unskilled users and a few spies from the attackers. It's one thing to make a system secure when it's only used by specialists, but something entirely different when it's used by civilians and enemies as well.
Think-Tanks, Think-Tanks, we are poor things, we don't do this cyber warfare stuff, but we invented it, interesting...

where were they when the internet research agency, of saint petersberg was causing all the trouble?
I bet Russian are spying on that one.
Funny they did not report how it went, and if the bad guys got in. Normally they are quick to brag about how well they did, how the red flag was defeated and what they learned. The fact they are silent, I think they lost, bad.

cyber defense or cyber attack?
"trust" is such an expensive currency, especially with america. There's never a decade without america spying on their own allies.
All big countries are spying at each other. There was a time where china stole russian air force technology. Get over it.
constantin barbu , a lingivstic historian that helped many countries to complete or give answers to their puzzles regarding their old manuscripts showed the whole world that romania is the only country that has manuscripts older than 2500 years.
He showed on your language ,history and lingvistic history that romania is the oldest country. Now ,before orthodox christianity romania was pagan. One of the apostoles of Iisus Hristos ,named Andrei came 2023 years ago in romania and since then ,romania became orthodox.
church of west ,catholics and Church of east ,orthodoxy ,were toghether for 1000 years but ,the church of west went in herezi and they put head of the church as pope. Orthodoxy did not accept that beacause head of church is Iisus Hristos.
In 2016 they made ecumenical sinod for all other denominations(sects)along with catholics to unite with orthodoxy and have head the pope.
Today orthodoxy is split in two :
one is ecumenistic
One the real and only true faith ,wich is for 2023 years ,wich still has Iisus Hristos as its head..xz
