    With such experts advising the government no wonder the US is in such a dire state.

    • @olzt100
      @olzt100 2 месяца назад

      The US government is not in dire straits. It's US business that is in dire straits. All governments are supposed to be the unbiased referee of the economy. Sadly, European based economics, especially the US, riggs the economy in favor of business and that hurts households. If you did not know the economy of every country is business versus households. So the people are not getting a fair deal when government rigs the economy for business. How you like inflation? The government can affect it but it's mostly caused by rising prices of goods which is under the control of business. The catch is they can raise the price to the highest level of acceptance and the only defense households have is to stop buying.

    😂😂😂 I vaguely remember an interview Musk did, and a reporter asked him if he was wary of competing against Chinese EVs.
    Musk laughed soo hard and replied "no, because they don't have a good product". Now the same guy needs protectionism from the government to compete 😂😂😂

    • @JigilJigil
      @JigilJigil 2 месяца назад

      They still laughing because the reality still is:
      Peter Rawlinson (Lucid Motors CEO and former Tesla chief engineer), May 10, 2024.:
      Chinese automakers are still *"years and years behind" Tesla on EV technology.*
      *"If you look at the advance in core EV technology, they're still years and years behind Tesla,"*
      The former Tesla engineer said that Chinese EVs had progressed "immeasurably" in recent years, and were now superior to their western counterparts "in terms of fit and finish quality." However, Rawlinson thought *their engineering was still lacking.*
      *"In terms of the elegance of their drive train technology, the batteries, the way things are integrated … it's not even close," he said.*
      *"I was looking at a number of the units on display at the Geneva Motor Show and the engineering was very disappointing."*

    • @JigilJigil
      @JigilJigil 2 месяца назад

      And the reason that tarriffs and protectionism is needed has nothing to do with the quality of the products, as they are technologically and engineering-wise years and years behind, they are dealing with a competition that has benefited from 100s billions of $ of the China's government subsidizes .

    USA tactics:
    intentionally double or triple the price of a normal price ahead of time and than pretend promotion of 50% off.
    Increase 100% tariff against China EV and later fall back intentionally without compromising real discount on negotiation

    Competition can be useful. A delay in tariff increases is not unusual. If individuals want to buy cheap cars, then let them buy them. EVs are hardly desirable and represent a tiny share of the auto market.

    Biden has been made to realize that there are ways around these tariffs that Chinese automakers can use, First, they could offer a lease/buy back plan that doesn't give title right away as an imported vehicle but a leased vehicle and later purchased. Another way is for Chinese automakers to construct or take over a US plant to build EV in the US. And another option might be to build a factory in Mexico, for example, and let buyers drive the car around Mexico while on vacation and cross the border with a used EV that now has a lower value.
    What Biden realizes now is that China can develop and produce EV cheaper than the US and thus corner the world market for EV. US and EU automakers would be hard pressed to compete. Ditto for the Japanese and South Koreans. The US would be a laggard in meeting its carbon neutral goal.
    One of the reasons EV are not that popular in the US is the lack of charging stations. China has almost 40 times more public charging stations (2.3 million) compared to the US. China also has nearly 5 million private charging stations.
    "According to the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance (EVCIPA), as of the end of August 2023, there were a total of 7,208,000 charging infrastructure units (public + private) in China, of which 2,272,000 charging stands were public and 4,936,000 were private.Oct 3, 2023" (Marklines)
    "As of Feb. 27, 2024, there are more than 61,000 publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations with Level 2 or DC Fast chargers in the U.S." (PEW Research)

    A simple i don't know would suffice. And then say these can only be answered by insiders.
    But my guess is that bla bla bla... like only sending a signal to the chinese is sufficient to deter them from entering the US market because tariffs can be raised to 100% whenever they want?
    Does it mean the lucky few who managed to import cheap cars from china can buy them without tariffs for now? Or must all imported cars be modeled with US standards?

    USA have a high per capita income……..so, they would need jobs to support the income.
    Taxing cheaper imports is to make sure that the country only have expensive products to match.
    The high per capita income is actually illusory.
    The real figure would be based on price parity …..
