    Fact is, tariffs don’t work. Not really. The money collected doesn’t really come from the foreign countries or corporations. They just pass the increased cost to the customers, domestic companies and people. So the tariffs are effectively a federal sales tax on foreign goods. Beyond that, domestic competitors have a huge incentive to raise their prices too, since their foreign competitors can’t lower theirs. So the only ones who benefit from the tariffs are domestic companies who just increase their profits with no need to compete and no danger of having foreign competition undercutting their prices. Tariffs are a lie.

      You are not thinking of it the right way. If you put a 10% tariff on foreign goods and lower taxes here 10% on goods. The consumer doesn't see a difference right away, the price doesn't change. What does change is the government is collecting more taxes from the foreign countries, while collecting less at home. This allows USA companies to compete with lower prices for the same product, because consumers are not being charged that extra 10%. It sparks local business as well as creating/supporting many jobs for Americans. Seems obvious which one would benefit Americans more.

      It will cause overall decline in living standards, because you're getting rid of specialization and division of labor which is proven to be the key to effectiveness way back in 19th century.
      No, they won't increase GDP, foreign companies working at your market also count towards GDP. By giving the monopoly (and tariffs is exactly that: a monopoly or a subsidy to domestic companies) to local companies we will see falling supply of those goods, which will cause something exactly opposite to a growth, called decline if all other factors are equal.

      Chitranshu Vashishth, focus of budget is not military, but people and their well fare.
      And US spends lot more per capita than those countries, as its inefficient.

      Sacchi focusing too much on welfare spoils the population and makes them ineffective and clips human creativity but that does not mean that welfare is not at all important , not everything has to be spoonfed , somethings are to be earned. Yea agreed that further increase in military budget is not needed but it is this huge budget that enables and promotes Innovation , invention and startups through the military that in return helps the general population . This internet , wireless communication , GPS and many medicines were meant for the military at first but now it benefits the citizens and makes their life easier .Productive Investment in the Military is the reason why the US leads in technology and space race

No but seriously tho, im interested in what you have to esay, i"m still blown away how this is straight a global conversation, talking to people from around the world!! What better way to discuss important issues that may even be uncomfortable to speak of at times, everyone still has a right to there opinion, no matter how sure one is that theres is the right one, should nonetheless be respectful

    Isn't buying locally made goods and reducing unnecessary shipping better for the planet? I kinda worry that a lot of manufacturers go to China to circumvent American environmental, health, and labor laws. So, encouraging people to buy locally made goods actually seems a bit more humane, healthier, and more environmentally friendly?

    • @zigoter2185
      @zigoter2185 2 года назад

      It isn't, because China can sell those at a lower price, because they work more efficiently, than domestic producers. So to import goods from China is less wasteful, than to make those in the USA.

      I might be wrong, but I have a theory that the less something costs, the less overall energy it takes to produce. However you have to balance that with the cost of the extra pollution and workforce mistreatment some of these countries have.

      @@zigoter2185 by work more efficiently, you mean pay the workers less and don't have to worry about dumping pollution in the air. then yes its more efficient.

    Tarifs only hurt companies who are exporting which in turn hurts the consumers which is you because the cost is passed on to you . So at the end the American people loose but they won’t tell you that

    In summary, shareholders don’t like to lose margins so the cost gets passed on to consumers. Typically US companies still can’t compete so even with tariffs foreign product are still a lower cost choice but now even at a higher price. What the US fails to do is help US companies become more efficient to be able to produce products at lower costs. We can than Reagan-notices for companies running to China to lower product prices at the cost of higher unemployment.

  • @cr7juve679
    @cr7juve679 6 лет назад +1

    There’s no way a product would be cheaper to be made here in the USA. A watch cost way far less under $1 to be manufacturer in China, and then big brands slap their name on it or create the hype, and retail it for over a 300%+ margin.
    Great job at explaining what tariffs are, but don’t mislead the American people with BS number examples. Lol

      Michael Jordan Dems have a higher chance of winning this time only if they have a candidate that has the balls to trump Trump . Dems have become a joke lately , they talk about Trump's Russia collusion ( which is partially true ) when Senator Dianne Feinstein office got inflitrated by the Chinese secret service the MSS . TBH American Democracy and freedom is under attack and both the parties got infiltrated by the Chinese and the Russians . Only a senate investigation , the FBI , the CIA and the intelligence community can save America in this cold war waged by the chinese and joined by the russians .

    1950's:england promised Hong Kong back to China on condition HK was allowed autonomy. CCP broke that agreement after taking HK.
    1970's: Nixon offered China some limited access to us domestic market ,dissuading the CCP from continuing support for North Vietnam's Viet Cong proxy war on South Vietnam, this did then help persuade NV to a peace deal in Paris (JFK's goal when 1st sending in volunteers),after they lost almost all their VC and supply lines from their '68 tet offensive.too bad the Soviets resupplied the communists who then violated their Paris deal after Nixon was gone and democrats ruled congress, cutting off SVietnam's supplies.
