    With the lowered pegs and raised bars, how does the fit compare to the Triumph Scrambler 1200? After test riding a 1200XE and Urban G/S (with the BMW high seat), I found the 1200XE fit my lanky frame perfectly while the BMW felt cramped and the suspension was, as you perfectly described, made of wood. Lovely bike and videos!

    • @FarmerTorque
      @FarmerTorque  5 дней назад

      @@roblloyd8413 - Hi Rob, as standard the BM is cramped - as mine is with raised bars and lowered pegs it’s dramatically better. It’s still not quite as relaxed as the triumph but pretty darn good - the higher comfort seat would sort that but you’ll need long legs !
      Overall whilst I had a great time with the XE, this BMW (after a load of mods !) is for me, much more desirable.
      Probably the most enjoyable I’ve ever ridden ( out of a lot)
      Don’t forget that the current XE equiv has put on weight high up and a lot of the after market exhausts just sound horrible.
      BUT if you love the triumph I’m sure you’ll enjoy that 👍

    • @roblloyd8413
      @roblloyd8413 5 дней назад

      @@FarmerTorque Thank you for comparing the raised bars and lowered footpegs to the Triumph. The raised bars, lowered foot pegs, adding the high seat, and perhaps even the Wunderlich Vario footrests, it sounds like the position will be comfortable. But, (there's always a "but"!), adding 70mm Wilburs to the 850mm high seat would be tippy toes, so I'll probably look at the Unit Garage 40mm option.

    i looked at the R9T platform ..not for me , i got the Triumph scrambler 1200Xe instead which i sold last year , and i bitterly regret it now ..also i think i’m gonna disagree about the tech on modern bikes , because unless i’m missing something i’ve set it up once and basically i don’t t ouch it again ..i’ve got the new 1300 GS and its an absolute dream .

    • @FarmerTorque
      @FarmerTorque  26 дней назад +1

      @@gerryryan2302 - interesting to hear Gerry. As you may know I lived with a 1200xe as a project for 18 months, so know that bike very well. I liked it a lot.
      For me, with this route I’m following is immensely rewarding.
      We’re all different and I’ll politely agree to disagree on the menus etc of the latest (I’ve ridden most)
      But, bottom line, if your enjoying the 1300, fill your boots 👍😊

    The modified rear suspension looks quite a bit higher that the stock suspension. Is it about 2-3" higher?

    • @FarmerTorque
      @FarmerTorque  26 дней назад

      @@DKR-1881 - Yes it is (I should mention that more) atm it’s 70mm higher, but there’s some fine tuning on the way, that I’ll report.

    Just wondering 💭 what is the problem with the standard suspension, & is it really bad, am considering one, with no off road riding just spirited on road, any ones input welcome 👍

    • @FarmerTorque
      @FarmerTorque  26 дней назад +1

      @@WheelieGood-el2br - Hi there, by any standard you care to mention, the standard suspension is pretty awful (I’d hoped the 21 spec onwards would be better, but no)
      Quite a few go with the Willbers improved rear shock and I’m sure it will be a useful improvement.
      Trouble is the front is poor ( which is why Wilbers offer the full fat conversion)
      Any more questions, please ask 👍

    I think all bikes, even the great ones, are at best only 9/10ths there and we as bikers accept it willingly, why? Because oh boy do we like to tinker and make it our own, the "every mans" bike suits no one. It may not be perfect but it's perfect for me as they say.
