- The world is falling apart, so let's check out some bad ass Mongolian rock! Ari shows LeAnn one of her newest favorite rock bands, The Hu! Neither of us had seen this music video and LeAnn had never heard of the band before. Check it out with us and let us know what you think! Stay safe friends.
#TheHu #Reaction #HunnuRock
The instrument is called Morin Khuur the “Horse-head fiddle”. Even the authentic version of the instrument has carved horse head on the top but it usually has just wooden texture as a whole. And the 2 strings are made out of horse’s hair thats why it is a horsehead fiddle in the first place.
What an awesome instrument, thanks for the info!
@DN89 that's incredible! Thanks so much for sharing.
Excellent!
That two string is horse tail.
Galaa plays the blue horsehead fiddle called the Thunder Khur because of the storm paint scheme on it. Enkush plays the red horsehead fiddle called the Fire Khur. Jaya not only throat sings but also plays the jaw harp and a Mongolian flute. And Temka plays the tovshuur. I saw them live in November, and they were awesome! I hope you review their song Sugaan Essena from the Star Wars Fallen Order game.
Eeee so frikin cool! Thanks so much for the info, and we will do Sugaan Essena soon!
"This popped up randomly in You Tube" Yep, that's how I found it, along with Babymetal. "Why is this in my suggestions?" to "Why wasn't this in my suggestions EARLIER?!"
Lets hope you already know about Nightwish and Floor Jansen. And ofcourse Dimmu Borgir - Mourning palace live @ wacken.
BabyMongol
@@Inosuke_Hashibira75 wtf
This why the Mongols conquered half the world in ancient times not even Rome was as big as the mongolian Empire.
You should refer BCE(before Jesus) as ancient. 13th and 14th centuries are just before middle ages
Rome lasted longer, though.
Actually, the Roman Empire lasted longer than the Mongol Empire. 753 BCE to 1453 CE.
Nicholas Walsh black death ended the mongols
Badass song for the most badass empire Warmand48 cheers
Two things:
1) If you're watching them from their original channel, you can turn on the subtitles for a translated version of the lyrics.
2) Check out their song Wolf-Totem. ;)
They are the coolest awesomest band on the planet and the entire HUniverse and they are absolutely Epic check out all their videos they are awesome and if you ever have an opportunity to see them live take it.
I just got to say Ari is absolutely GORGEOUS.
Exactly, that pretty much why I watch these
Such a goddess 🤦♂️
The hu “wolf totem” reaction🤘
You two are so gorgeous. It was so compelling to watch your growling imitation. And finally realizes our names are totally same hehe. Love your reaction❤️
Altogether there are 9 and if you include their managers there are 11 because their producer Dashka is an integral part of the band and it takes all 8 of them onstage to make the magic happen.
The Hu is what the old ancestors used to be called when they travelled....... these guys are heavy as hell........
I am so jealous you got to see them Live, I just discovered them this last week.
Here's something cool to know, traditional use of throat singing was to speak to the heavens. They would utilize the acoustics of their surroundings to amplify their words
Beautiful! And the song is great too, hahaha...
The 2 “stringed” instrument is called a Morin Khuur (Horse head Fiddle), traditionally the “strings” are made from the tail hairs of a horse, and to “bind” player to instrument (and vice versa) the hairs must come from the player’s own horse. The “Male” (thicker) “string” has 150 hairs, and the “Female” (thinner) “string” has 130 hairs. One of the signs of a Master Morin Khuur player is that they can realistically mimic the sounds of a Horse or Falcon with the instrument.
Though the Hu’s instruments are customized specifically for them, the Morin Khuur does feature a horse’s head on top, hence the name Horse Head Fiddle.
Thanks for doing this.
TheHU🔥❤
wow i like your opening wanna listen full version
Great reaction and review of such a unique, amazing band. I also recommend the more groovy "Wolf Totem".
Respect Few.... Fear Non
........ Mongols.......
Cool reaction thank you very much
Love this reactions!
Cool reaction
Cool review! Amazing 🎶
Doing reaction is the right thing to do, specially when you are in “isolation”. 😃👍
Yes, many many reactions will be the result of our isolating ;)
Live there are 8 but the main 4 do all the interviews and radio station appearances and that stuff.
Me enamoré de la chica de pelo corto 😍😍.. buen vídeo.!
To learn about the entire band pull up "HU we are" and check out each band members videos.
Ok, two cute girls listening to some of the most masculine and primal music I have ever heard. Also, random cat problems. Sub incoming.
This song is also about living up to your ancestors. Bit of a challenge to current culture
I respect you ladies for keeping an open mind. I've got friends that would just say "Nope, hate it" before listening to it. The Hu have a LOT of good songs, btw. Check out the band Clutch. They have some AWESOME songs also.
Thanks Mitchell! Yeah we just posted another react to a Hu song, Sugaan Essena!
The HU 💪👏👏🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉
PLZ React The HU - Sugaan Essena coolest song ever :)
Thanks John! We'll put it on the list!
@@LEANNxARI oh and if you haven’t done it already the wolf totem is dope
I first found the HU on RUclips and it was wolf totem the very first song I ever listen to of there’s and after that I got hooked on them I can actually sing the entire song in Mongolian and it has took me a very very very long time to learn it
That's awesome!
Thank you @LEANNxARI
I love this song and video. Wolf Totem is fire too. I love how they made use of what I assume was drone footage to create an epic video that probably wasn't all that expensive. I feel like other bands could learn from the way they made this video.
Some other bands from around the world: Alien Weaponry who are New Zealanders of Maori heritage, I'd suggest Kai Tangata. Also Jinjer, Ukrainian female-fronted metal with great music and epic vocals - I'd start with either Pisces live session for the shock value and the lovely intimate studio video, or Perennial at Wacken for an epic performance of a beautiful song on stage.
Stay safe. Cheers!
Damn Jeffrey! Thanks so much for the comment! I love Alien Weaponry, that would totally be a fun one to introduce to LeAnn 🤣
I will also look into the other ones you suggested 🤘
@@LEANNxARI They are badass - that sounds cool. And always happy to share interesting metal. :)
I stumbled upon The Hu randomly as well- youtube wise~ Yup, luv em! would be neat to see them live! There is also a woman- I happened upon her vid, becore her English version .. she is more Nordic I believe. Her song 'Into the mist', Eivor is her name ...seems more like a song for Halloween- but its really interesting. She does throat singing too. "..yamma he yamma he yammaaaaa". But one vid she does in her language, other is english. "...shadow shadow by my side....are you wondering just like me....this realityyy..". She seems like a unique person, as The Hu are!
She and Hu have been an inspiration of spirit of strength in an odd way for me- my hubby is on a brain cancer experience, and though I actually do play folk or Celtic Harp(yep, tons of strings), these musicians I love discovering; life is filled with many surprises- be it health(like hubby), or music one never knew of before! Wish you the best & some calm during this lockdown virus time. hugs from N California, : )
Thanks for the comment April! All the best to you and your hubby. Love from south Florida ❤️
@@LEANNxARI Thank you, and bright thoughts your way - hope all is well (or at least being cope-able) of this odd time of lockdown or 'shelter in place' they call it here in CA~ My hubby is a Louisiana fella! (we have masks , but the Mardi Gras kind!) So funny when in non lockdown mode, a California friend visits, and is confused why we have colorful odd masks hanging on walls here and there! Iam CA born and the South was such new perspective for me at first yrs back! (we do have a few actual health masks here too, that Tubbs fire oct 2017 zipped through behind our rent & air was icky for weeks) .. anyhow, you (or y'all) all, take care, calm will happen of all this virus stuff, at some point! xo
I am mongolian and thank you for watching this
Which tribe my brother??
Монгол гэдгээ зарлаж ём үзээгүй цариалахаа болиоч гуйя
A white girl did homework very well.
If you haven't already, watch "Song of Women" bythese guys!
I randomly came upon your video.... Girl with short hair...I like you! Your fascination with THE HU is pretty close to how I feel. girl with long hair was too distracted by instruments to truly get in it... I'm sure she will when she listens to it once more!
I LOVE this song. Also we'd totally be musical bff's
You need to check out The Wolf Totem by them. It is fucking cool as hell.
The man on the rock it's THE CROW Brandon Lee 😂😂
Cats don't give a damn xD, until the touring starts, there were four of them. and then they recruited 4 more musicians and made them band members officially. 8 band members, 1 producer, 1 manager = 10 Mongol boys which is the smallest unit (ARAVT) of the ancient Mongol army.
Lol yeah our cats think they rule the world...
Wow that is so frikin cool. I love the depths of symbolism that their art has.
The video took 2 weeks to make. They went to 4 seperate locations for each of the 4 HU. Each location representative of 4 elements as an integral part of the song as well as their culture and beliefs. Galaa is Thunder, Jaya is Wind, Enkush is Fire and Temka is Water.
That couch looks so comfy
Instruments: Morin khuur, tovshuur, tsuur, tumur khuur, limbe
@Arianne damn girl, you're gorgeous. ❤
👍👍👍👍
A long while ago I found a video of Huun Huur Tu. A Tuvan (Mongolian) band who do the throat singing and the dual tone singing. It’s no rock, it’s etnic and/or folk chants, prayers and stories. It’s simply mindblowing. Once they start singing, you imagine the plaines and the mountains and the brutal nature of Mongolia.
Horses play a big role in the Mongolian culture (remember Genghis Khan and The Huns). In some districts it’s their only way of transport. Also hunting is a big part of Mongolian culture. I believe they are the last hunters who use eagles. If you listen closely to their music you hear birdcalls and horses all the time.
In the 'The Hu' video we just watched, you see the horseheads on the instruments, you hear simulated horses, hooves and their rhythm.
Back to Huun Huur Tu.
This is the video: ruclips.net/video/i0djHJBAP3U/видео.html
The best examples are:
1:35 Oske Cherde (prayer) It is a bit of a long ‘intro’ to a more rhythmic part at 2:49.
6:20 Sygyt (dual tone singing)
10:02 Chiraa-Khoor (here again the rhythm of the horses hooves and the horse sounds, the dual tone singing) I love the tone of the voice of the man making the horse hoove sounds.
16:25 Kargyraa (Tuvan throat singing)
30:20 Kozhamyk (there are the horses again, undeniably)
Just have a listen in your own time (no reaction needed)
Have fun and enjoy.
It is soothing and mesmerizing.
Turn on the captions and you can get the lyrics in English.
From what I understand . from what I have gleaned from interviews I have seen with them the tall dude with the long hair with natural highlights is the one who does the majority of the actual throat singing .. he is taking the time to teach his band mates but its a long process to become a master without blowing out your vocal chords.. awesome reaction ..I will be back
Very cool, I didn't know that! Thanks for watching ❤️
I hope you make more the hu reaction
Thanks guys🤗watching from Mongolia🇲🇳
Ari is beautiful and adorable ...dangerous combo... add sunshine sweet for personality and it just makes her lethal 😍 😂
They really like to use the Mongolian Countryside as a another character in their videos
There's something about the HU.
This is a cool band, Crazy sound they got. Oh and great to me ya and you should try reacting to Nightwish-Ghost Love Score (live at Wacken 2013)...will blow your mind trust me, Cheers and rock ya later!
The v in yuve is pronounced like a w in English, or the traditional sound in Russian. I'm not completely sure if it has always been pronounced in this way, but because of their nearest neighbor many if not all Mongolian citizens are fluent in Russian. They also have a song in the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. There is a version of Wolf Totem with Jacoby Shaddix, and Yuve Yuve Yu with From Ashes to New a band from Lancaster, PA that I'm happy to now know.
Oh woops, thanks for the correction, I was saying it wrong ;) I really liked the Ashes to New version as well. And we just posted a react to the Jedi Fallen Order song Sugaan Essena. Thanks for the comment!
Hot damn Ari, your enthusiasm and smile are more contagious than this BS plague :D
Keep it up!
Watch the version feat. From Ashes to New!!!
If you like rock you should check out the Japanese rock band Band Maid. 5 rocking ladies that are professional musicians that write, arrange and perform their own music. You'll see them described as one of the best rock bands ever. PERIOD. Check out some of their MV like Blooming or Puzzle, but they really shine live!
My favorite Mongolian band is THE HANG GAI BAND song "REINCARNATION" They are on a competition show
Oh cant wait for wolf totem
Very nice reaction!
Just a bit of advice is when you react to a video make sure if the video has english subs. Especially this one cuz Hu has english subs on their MVs most of the time and it would make your experience even more amazing with their amazing lyrics 😊👍
👍 its better listen with earphone
You should definitely react to Wolf Totem by The Hu, if you haven't already. The translation is incredible.
For more rock/metal with traditional instruments (mixed with modern intruments) you should checkout Wagakki band from Japan. Modern instruments they're using are bass, guitar and drums. Traditional instruments they're using are shakuhachi (flute), koto (lying harp-like instrument), wadaiko drums and shamisen (3 snared banjo like instrument). Yuko Suzuhana sings in traditional style called shigin. Akatsuki no Ito: ruclips.net/video/fcucbhJ-Orc/видео.html Ikusa: ruclips.net/video/Y5zj3dwNxJw/видео.html Senbonzakura: ruclips.net/video/K_xTet06SUo/видео.html
Wow that sounds awesome! We will definitely check them out!
9:57 I don't know which one of you edited that video but I appreciate that little detail of the text behind the tail xd
Very observant! Thank you ;)
i am from mongolia hi YU VE YU VE YU THE HU

you should've put the subtitles, and you will be astonished by the meaning of the lyrics
They Bill themselves as a Mongolian folk metal band
THE TRUE VIRIL MEN
I can hear personal jesus in there.....
Most of their songs gave the English sub titles along the bottom if you not seeing them you need to find another version of the videos wolf totem us a song about how they'll fight if pushed into it in the name of Genghis Khan , and YUVE YUVE YU is about the younger generation ignoring Prophecies of old , and YUVE YUVE YU the chorus how strange how strange
Hi Batty’s butt. Hahaha. I like your reactions
The way you twisted your hair was very Mongolian when you swayed your hair but the face expression can be a little stern. 6:59
HU actually means people so the HU means peoples music, and yuve yuve yu means how strange
Should have let the cat sit next to you and react to the song :p
The throat singing sounds little undefining to their music genre because Thrash singers also do it and their vocal ranges are very dynamic..where as these guys are amazing but the vocals can only be same pitch through out..What I consider them is the New Gateway to Metal..Im sure this music will take you deep into Metal..Metal is very dynamic with instruments and vocals..
One example:- there is a technique called "Pig Squick" similar technique but the pitch is way higher..
I dunno how I came here though..This lockdown must have gotten me good 😅😅
Thanks for the comment, I did not realize that!
Yeah the quarantine is taking us in all kinds of directions as well lol
If you're looking for something else that's really cool and different, I would recommend "Ghost Love Score" by Nightwish. It is symphonic metal at its finest.
Thanks so much! We will check it out!
mastering throat sing. u need many years.
It depends for some people can do it in few months coz they can learn fast not everyone is the same
White girl is nice
Aww thank you 😊
Have you two heard the versions that they have collaborated with english speaking artists? Song of Women with Lizzy Hale, and Wolf Totem with... the dude from Papa Roach who's name escapes me...
If you haven't done it yet, check out a group called Heilung
lady in left is tots cool >_
This is a great song but we can barely here it. TURN IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!
I normally blast their music whenever I listen to it lol but for the reacts we keep the music audio lower so that you can hear what we say ;) Thanks for watching!
Hu translates to English as human

Lol! What an epic battle that would be!
BTS are gayyy.
Wait, have these 2 reacted to Babymetal? It seems that they might enjoy it.
You guys need to work on the sound quality. It sounds like we're listening in a clock radio and at a distance.
Please i recommend SUGAAN ESSANA
Thanks so much for the comment, we actually recorded a react to Sugaan Essena last week and just posted it!
You gotta do Tool, ladies. Please!
We will totally do Tool, I'd love to see LeAnn's reaction to that lol
Try reading the lyrics. Wolf totem is call to battle song. You've juv juve (sorry for spelling) is a it's a shame we can'unite
Just a point- the Huns were European, specifically from modern day Hungary. The word hu is the Mongolian word for human.
Still sad yall never reacted to sugan essena
We actually did last year. Make sure to check it out on our channel 👍
