This video is really helpful, I would just add one small tip: put characters in the order you will use them in. It's a small thing but can save a bit of time, I only realized this recently after always putting my dps first and then having to switch to my supports for their bursts.
glad it helps!!! and you are absolutely right! another one I remembered after I posted the video is: consider the ults recharge state in floors 1 and 2 before doing a rotation, because you want to get to the next stage with enough charge to start a rotation xdxd, still if I do a follow up with commentor tips I'll surely put yours!
It doesnt change in speed if you just know what is what. You can go 1-2-3-4, 4-3-2-1 or anything else. I personally do 4-3-2-1 and its the best for me. On Field characters are always in 1 in my rotations.
I'm built different. My strongest team position rotation wise is
1-2-4-3-2 repeat
my team goes from strongest to weakest (or main dps to support) regardless of rotation order. dont want to change it in case of accidently switching to the wrong person lol

I heard the best way to do abyss is just having Nahida in your party lol
I would be lying if I write I'm not Nahida dependant, in an early sketch and the early script of the video I also recommended: Diona, Rosaria and Dendro traveler in "the essential ones" part (with huge emphasis on getting Nahida as fast as possible, obviously considering the likings of the player) but I cut that part for the sake of the section
all the archons are goated for the abyss, venti makes floors 1-11 and sometimes 12 a breeze because of his cc, zhongli makes you unkillable, raiden gives big energy and dmg, nahida big bloomin, furina big buffs. def an investment worth making
I have cleared without her but she usually finds her way onto my teams. She's too good ignore if you want any dendro.
I have never cleared without Xingqiu, Bennett, Raiden Shogun or Xiangling (not necessarily all together... although that is a good team).
I remember the times where people lashed out on her because she was white.... Now she is literallh an essential part of an abyss team lol
nahh i dont have her and my navia and neuvi 36 star pretty easily. Thats to say i dont have furina either so no units are really essential for abyss

honestly one tip i could give for anyone for abyss is DONT UNDERESTIMATE ENERGY RECHARGE
energy recharge makes your rotations silky smooth. the less time you funnel energy the better and the higher your team dps will be. it's okay to swap a character to a favonius weapon even if it means you do "lower" damage in the process. especially for energy hungry characters like xiangling, it's okay to put an er sands even if they do smaller numbers because you'll get better uptime on their burst and therefore more team damage overall.

Abyss 12 is one of those "cannon events" in every genshin player, getting into it and get absolutely demolished is something everyone have to experience
When I first 36 starred abyss it was when the wenut was in it and I was ar 58. I tried over and over, making sure my rotations weren’t delayed by even 1 second and if they were I’d reset. If i swirled the wrong element with kazuha I would retry, if I didn’t hold shenhes skill I would retry. It’s possible as long as you have patience and determination
Made 36 stars after 180 of playing genshin. Started without any knowledge!

@@DaiZenKarl i tried for the 1st time the floor 12. didn't get demolished at all, but still lost due to timer's ending. the ennemies aren't hard. the timer is.
i don't care at all for the abyss, though. i only have 3 reasons to do it. before completing the 12th floor, the abyss, will need to have a specific mob. it's a geo variant of those dark knights from the chasm. they only appear in the abyss and they're all i miss in my archive (or at least they were until 4.4). the 2 other reasons are 1 and the same. a psn trophy and the acheivement. abyss, i have no interest in. acheivement and game completion? THAT is another story. once cleared, i ain't going back in there. the abyss will become useless to me.
@@ericcardinal9138 Still, getting 12 stars is worth a bunch for Battle Pass.
The only thing I would add is that you need to build your characters: Level 90, with level 90 weapon, with level 8 talents, with level 20 5* artefacts. Or get as close as you can that. Because floors 11 and 12 are no joke - all the enemies out level you at that point and going with a level 70 character with low talents and a level 80 weapon against a level 100 boss is not fun because you do so little damage and take so much damage. You might not be able to kill the boss in time.
Nice tip! and yes, floor 11 and 12 are the ones that gets serious not only for the outlevel the enemies are but also they became damage sponges even normal enemies can have more HP than lvl 90 Dvalin or Tartaglia (*coug coug* consecrated beasts *cough coug*)

Agreed minus character level. The resources needed to bring a character from 80 to 90 aren't worth it. I frames and dodging also become critical as a lot of attacks one shot squishy characters as you said.
Only characters worth leveling to 90 for stats versus funzies is the hyperbloom trigger (so Kuki or Raiden) due to how damage is calculated

Good point,@@jjthan8772 ! I've seen videos where the party has a level 20 Sucrose on floor 12. I haven't the courage to try that, but it can be done.
I've met many new players through out these 3 years and most of them don't know, that if you already got 3* on the chamber, you don't need to redo it again if you want to try a different team for the next chamber. You just need to squeeze through some how with that team with all ults ready and max hp possible. Also if you used all your bursts in 12-1 just to get a 3*, and you feel like your rotation fails in 12-2 without bursts at the beginning, you can redo 12-1 and finish it with 1 or 2 stars, but with all your energy saved for the 12-2.
Also you can do abyss backwards, like go through 12-1 and 12-2 with 2* or less, get 3* on the 12-3 and then restart with the team aiming at 3* of 12-2 and who knows you might get lucky and 3* first chamber as well along the way. It saves a bit more time if 12-2 or 12-1 are the most difficult for you to beat.
I'm not sure if this counts as the countering section already mentioned in the vid, but if not, it's something it helped me a lot. If you're trying to 36 star abyss, you don't have to do it in one run. For example, if you got 3 stars first chamber, 1 second chamber and 3 third chamber, you can just make a team useful enough to pass (even with zero stars) first chamber but that it's perfect for second chamber even if it's terrible for first and last chamber. That way, you can get 3 stars second chamber and get floor 12 with 9 stars, since the stars don't reset with each run, it just shows the max you got in each chamber. I realized after failing to 36 star a few abyss that even if you have to do the whole floor 3 times with 3 different teams, almost everyone with good enough builds can 36 star abyss that way

now now then, I still have a hernia from the last abyss kamikaze pyro slimes in abyss 11 xdxd they did a lot of damage to the monolith and didn't agro on the player xdxd (I have to use the nuclear option: monohydro)
Now I don't even bother setting up teams for 9-10

0:26 And this is where we get to the major factor of being unable to clear the spiral abyss. It's that they don't have the right character(s) or haven't had them built for the right scenario. Example would be the 4.2 spiral abyss. Trying to beat that WITHOUT A HYDRO UNIT IS HELL
Yeah, usually abyss is a way for Hoyoverse to sell the current banners characters, when Navia and Yoimiya were announced for this version banners I knew that either the thunder manifestation or the corrosive dog (or both) were going to be in this version, mostly because Yoimiya is the only good counter of the damn bird and geo of the damn dog
@@DaiZenKarl Yoimiya isn't the only good counter to the bird at all. Sure, any time the bird shows up, Yoimiya lovers will hype her to the moon, because it is their chance to be more effective than Hu Tao. But the reality is plenty of other characters can pummel the bird easy. Like me, I beat the bird down with Dehya + Nahida (two electros make up the rest of the team, one of them being Kuki for healing, but, needless to say, they don't do much damage to the bird). I believe any tall claymore character, male or female, can hit the bird, even when it is flying, and if you make it so you can survive the damage it does with things like its cube, you can happily pummel it pretty easily. So Tall claymore user + non-electro off-field damage dealer (Yelan, Nahida, etc) + healer to keep claymore character alive = easy win. Ideally, not Benny, because pyro infusion will get you knocked back.
Also worth noting that, generally speaking, you need relatively few good damage dealers, because, while an Abyss might do something like throw lots of hydro immune mobs at you, it is unlikely to shut down a variety of damage types. So your damage can come from relatively few sources, that you put on whatever side they do work on. Of course, there are things like shields, which need counter elements. And that is something you do need... counter element characters. But such characters just need to apply their element sufficiently, which is kit dependent, and the actual damage can be done by those select few DPS types you have.
I just 9 starred floor 11 in like 3 months of playing as f2p. I'm pretty happy. Floor 12 feels completly impossible though.
Don't give up, as I said in the video just try to complete floor 12 even if you get no stars, the first step to getting abyss full stars is getting used to the enemies and difficulty, bealieve me, the first time I completed floor 12 was with 0 stars and just a few spare seconds
after nearly a year of being mostly f2p i was able to clear floor 12 with 4 stars, this week i managed to get 7, keep trying and building bro, and dont be afraid to reattempt chambers or do worse on a chamber in order to do better in the next one (you can only gain stars not lose them, so if you already have 3 stars on chamber 1 you can take as much time as you need to make sure you enter chamber 2 with full energy)
I'm broke (but i got my seprent spine and ForcedToPull for c2 raiden), but i now manage to 36 star every abyss. it's a matter of builds and some knowledge
Honestly one thing I can say to make 36 staring spiral abyss easier is to not try to 36 star it in one go if you can’t and instead try to switch up teams depending on what you need to like if your team is really good for 12-3 but really bad for 12-1 then still do it get full stars for 12-3 then come back to it and make a direct counter team for 12-1

Bennett atk buff is base atk, meaning u don't have to show ur max ATK, it's just ATk from his levelling + his weapon's base ATK

Bennett burst says "Base ATK" which is his levels (up to 90) ATK and the base ATK of his weapon, that's why he wants a weapon with high base ATK (like Aquila) but Shenhe for example her skill says "current ATK" so fer her your artifacts do matter
Very good vid.i think a good way to manage your pulls is to summon for character u like and then build a team around it for example if you like hutao u can summom for her and then save pulls to xingqiu,yelan zhongli and etc

I'll be sure to add it to a follow up video, and yeah that's a tip almost no one gives, I was one of the lucky few that was told that and got to put it into practice (my first 5 star being Yae, followed by Shogun after the first Shenhe banner so I worked on getting and building Xingqiu, Bennett and Xiangling for national)
P.S. I didn't build Miko until dendro released so yeah, although I got her first, my first ultra DPS were Shogun

So i got a neuvillette and a hu tao and i gotta say the hydro tulpa is the bane of my existance
Yeah, in the last abyss video I uploaded I used Tighnari to deal with the Tulpa, not without a few rounds of being one-shoted, I tried with Hu Tao and nope, the Tulpa is tanky AF
as a side note: use double dendro, double electro so you can make a hyperbloom (Hydro is given free by the tulpa), try also defeating his summons as soon as you can and practice dogeing his attacks on overworld
i cant say im obsessed with spiral abyss but being obsessed or try to clear spiral abyss really helps ur gameplay and ur understanding of team comps, character kits, rotations and proper builds for different situations. the more i do spiral abyss the more i get better at the game, or maybe thats just me
Also a tip that helped is u can focus on clearing the chambers backwards, sometimes id finish f12c3 first with a certain team then the rest other teams, i do it backwards to focus first on saving the bursts for c3 without caring about the time

what worked for me was getting dendro characters in my team. i normally hate using dendro characters and never gave them a chance until i tried fighting using hyperbloom and hypercarry with nahida. it's so muh better than any other elemental reaction when it comes to advancing in the abyss.

For team choosing, one other big tip as to what can work: the Abyss line up is almost always made with the featured banners in mind. This in turn can clue you in as to what to focus on. Is Yoimiya on the banner? One chamber or the other of floor 12 will likely be pyro and/or ST ranged friendly. There's a reason the Thunderbird usually shows up for an Abyss cycle that includes her on the banner. You don't need the featured characters, but it does give a nice hint as to what elements and/or style of play are likely to work.
Another key thing when it comes to building teams: you need relatively few high DPS characters, because it is unlikely that they won't work on one side or the other. One side might shut down hydro, but then you just put your hydro DPS on the other side. You do, however, want access to variety of elemental applicators. A team like National is as effective as it is because it uses 3 damage types, meaning that, when something like a shield needs an elemental counter, the team likely has access to it. Same deal with hyperbloom... with electro, dendro, and hydro in the mix, it can tear down most shields types very easily, and that it will almost always work on one side or the other. So, basically, mono-teams are worse investments than more elementally diverse teams, because they are more likely to be countered due to enemy types.
Oh, and one more thing of note: The difference between 6 and 9 starring floor 12 for an entire year is about the same as a single Welkins, which isn't enough for even two ten pulls. Or in other words, don't worry about 9 starring floor 12 if it is costing your enjoyment of the game.
And added to that, you just need to 3 star each chamber, not 9 star each floor. So if one chamber is giving you trouble, go in with two teams designed specifically to clear that chamber, then do the rest with other teams.

Tip: Noelle is good on any floor that has elemental enemies.
Stack her with def, atk and er. Get her burst up and maybe a few constellations. The shield and healing is a blessing.

I will try abyss floor 12 when I’m AR 60 and nothing else to do. For now I’m just going to sit at Floor 11.
Well, it is nice when you have characters (and build) to make new teams for every new Abyss. 😅
And here I am who have two so-so working teams with 1 or 2 decently built characters per team. 😅
But at least I can try the Floor 12 and get 1, 2 or 3 stars in it.
I can top out 1 team, but making a 2nd one is sPain, i either die or lose to time xD, atleast i passed the first section of the abys, now its the moon part (thing that you enter and does a whirl on far right)

I think the hardest part for me is team building. Theres so many characters and enemies that are better suited for each situation. I end up spending resources on nearly everyone just to make teams. It kinda feels like I need 7 dps for each element, then someone to swirl, another for sheids, healing, sub dps if main dies. Any advice?
Some tips that could help you: try focusing on one team at a time, once you build it go to the other, also theres no shame on doing the abyss with a different team each level, once you get 3 stars on a floor it stays that way, the most basic team is: 1DPS, 1 shielder/healer, 1 buffer, 1 subDPS (of course there are other teams with different character roles), I also did a follow up video with comments tips
My problem is that I'm too reliant on Zhongli, and I don't have any good healers or backup shielders to replace him on my second abyss team.
Yeah, that's my main reason why I built my Yanfei as a shielder, to leave my Zhongli free for other teams, good shielding options: Kirara, Diona, Noelle and Layla, as for healers: Bárbara, Diona, charlotte and Yaoyao do a good job at healing
I built Layla pretty well, she can face tank a lot of things, so she never leaves the party. I would recommend her. Her shield is the second best in game in terms of raw strength, which is why I always bring her when I co-op with my bro (he doesn’t have Zhongli’s shield share constellation but I have Layla’s). The biggest down side is that her strength can be locked behind her constellations. I had her since she dropped in 3.2 and got her to c6 pretty quickly so I didn’t rly have to deal with that. I believe she also scales off of Hp, like Zhongli, so 4pc tenacity is the way to go. She also has 100% uptime on her shield too.
I just came to proudly announce that Ive just achieved 36 stars for the first time! I had to try 12-1 and 12-2 again to get the extra star but I can finally say I did it!!
What I just don’t get is, why my damage is still bad, like everything is 90 and max leveled and still I can’t get through floor 12.

You forget talking about saving your energie , if you get 3 stars on floor 12 chamber 1 but not able to get it in chamber 2 you can restart from ch 1and save your burst for chamber 2 etc...

Best tip have alot of 5 star charracters and dont listen to folks saying 4 stars are good, (they mostly are a waste of investment, theres a 5 star that does everything better so just wait and save)

The only "tip" (if you want to call it like this, but it's a normal conclusion if you use your brain) you need is: if you want to play it (nobody forces you, and rewards are very far from worth it if you don't like or whatever) you can still get 1-2 stars without being forced to get 3.
But considering everyone who uploads videos can only accept full stars, people are brainwashing each other believing it's the only acceptable way.
If I do it and I can't always get 3 per floor, and especially when I miss it for some seconds, I totally don't give a fk
try to do it, and you'll realize how stupid is trying to get 3 star at all costs, every by sacrificing fun
Very nice tip, funny enough I included that specific tip in the follow up video of this one that I uploaded two days ago, but yes, no shame on skipping abyss, in fact I skipped almost all of the Sumeru Abyss just because of the consecrated beasts, those things were not worth on my mental health

100% agree, i just build 2 teams, first is my main, second is a meta hyperbloom (affordable party) . 'cause i don't have much freetime as college students to farm for good rolls artifacts. I do spiral abyys to get extra funds for character banner i been waiting. I'm okay with 1-2 stars on floor 11 above. No pressure I aim to get 25 stars.

My advise is to pull for the meta characters.
Nahida, zhongli, raiden, yelan, bennett, xiangling, xingqiu, etc.
You need those. If you want to play comfortably later on, aiming for the mentioned characters above

Furina (She made Diluc Great again 😭)
Kazuha (Cc + EM goes crazy)
Jean (If u Have Furina she is very good to use)
Raiden (Good Dmg+ Battery)
Hu Tao (Very Strong but difficult play style for some people)
Navia (The only Geo you need tbh, Big Dmg+ can use other elements on the team with her)
Zhongli (His shield is good that's it)

Hi, sorry for the late response, both Xiangling and Xingqiu use emblem, Xiangling uses the catch, CR is 41.9% CD 141.7% ER 200%, as for XQ you can check his build in my latest abyss video, all the builds of the characters used at that video are at the end

What does RNG mean?
Random Number Generator; basically all the dice rolls the game does in the code that determines some mechanic randomness, from determining if you crit or not to what stats you get in artifacts
