- The Miami Hurricanes are taking a much more buttoned up approach to the ACC’s revenue crisis in comparison to Florida State and Clemson. The Seminoles and Tigers are suing the conference in an effort to break the Grant of Rights. North Carolina trustees have openly advocated for a move to the Power Two (Big Ten or SEC.) Should the Hurricanes be formulating their own escape plan, as ACC members are set to make at least $30 million less annually than members of the Big Ten and SEC?
Host Alex Donno is joined by Locked On Network recruiting expert Brian Smith, who presents a devil’s advocate argument about how Miami could actually benefit from staying in the ACC after Clemson and Florida State leave. In the short term, would an easier path into the College Football playoff be an advantage? Donno and Smith both believe the revenue gap makes staying in the ACC long term untenable.

If we win the ACC this year, make a playoff run and sign another top 5 class i believe we will be in a position to go wherever we want. Granted, those are a lot of ifs but all of those goals are more than doable! Lets freakin go!
We can go to the B1G. The issue is Miami's share would be 50%. Our tv numbers for the past 3 years are atrocious. Watch this video and you will understand why. Hopefully 2024 changes our tv ratings. We should not go to the Big 12. The tv ratings would not move much.

Donno. Do you really think sec would let big10 right into Florida just to keep Miami out? With or without the sec sticker, Miami still recruits at a high level. I think if big gets fsu/miami, that is a huge error on sec out of stubbornness
I’m an LSU fan and alum. Miami has to get out of the ACC. There will be too much money lost by staying in the ACC. I hope you guys can make it to the Big 10. You guys fit the Big 10 very well. It looks like the SEC is going after UNC for now. NCSU might be bundled with UNC by the NC state government.
Its redundant for the SEC to have Miami and FSU with them having Florida already in the conference. The B10 doesn't have a presence in the South/Southeast! The SEC has A&M, Texas and Oklahoma! The logic move for the B10 is in Florida with Miami and FSU!

Another point…Some of the best recruits won’t come with a much weaker ACC.
They will if they know Miami is the darling of the ACC…I would stay for the years everyone else leaves then go indie after using them. The refs will be in Miami side to make sure they have representation every year.

I have noticed that the ACC's official youtube channel has almost completely ignored UM since the 1st of the year. Nary a mention of us. Even in clips with just ACC teams they never show UM. It's so obvious they don't want us in their conference...

Hey Alex, Brian is right about reaching the play-offs, but the thing that's not being brought up is top recruits want to be in the BIG or The SEC so they can be seen weekly during the season. Recruiting will be the biggest hurdle to overcome.
Miami's top recruits will immediately jump to a P2 school if Miami is not in the P2. Elite players currently on the roster would be wise to jump to schools in the P2 as well. Athletes who have NFL potential notice that the percentage of NFL draft picks from teh B1G/SEC is FAR higher than any non P2 conference (including B12). So it is more than just about money and "winning." The talent will *not* come to Miami if they are not P2. Full stop. It's a business decision. Either Miami gets in the P2, or it is irrelevent. Period.
Finally, somebody gets. FSU understood the issue! Miami and FSU stay in the ACC, the B10 and SEC schools would be able to just outbid them here in Florida. Also, as you said, the draft and showcase of being in the P2, that will hurt Miami staying in the ACC making 40 to 70 million less in TV money!

It would be great to be in the Big 10 especially since I live in Columbus, Ohio but I don’t see that happening.
Why don't you see it happening? The B10 added Rutgers and Maryland. They add USC and UCLA plus Oregon and Washington for 3 home games out West with West coast teams. The B10 when it comes to state populations and TV markets are in California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan! The most valuable CFB teams and brands in Texas and the one in Georgia as well. That leaves Florida. University of Florida is in the SEC. That leaves Miami and FSU in the 3rd largest state. Florida has 5 top 25 tv markets! The B10 has no footprint no where in the South!

Miami in the B10 which is the spot for me, they would be making 70 to 90 million in tv money! I live here in Florida. I'm originally from Chicago. This state is full of B10 alums and fans!
