Trick for the future: When you remove the screws from a Wah, use the screws from the back of a computer to put the plate back on. They almost always fit perfectly (same threading usually) and they are short enough to accommodate the thickness of the velcro. They are what I use on both my wah pedals. Some companies might differ, the screws used to mount hard drives have slightly tighter thread, but are the same height, though they may have flatter head. They may work where the others don't. Cool board, looking forward to what come next! Cheers from Canada!
Filed under Stupid American Tricks: 6-32 UNC screws are the common PC case screws where other components in PCs are metric. Drives me nuts that this stoopid Imperial system still exists.
I am thinking of completely absolving my entire big pedal train board with 2 eventides and like 8 other pedals…to do this nearly exact same setup lol. Thank you Rabea! Would love to hear how you have liked using this setup for Frogleap lately?
What’s the exact model of the Schmidt array board.? I also have a QC and like this setup with a exp pedal and a couple of extra pedals. Thanx for the great video.
My slash wah still has the cellophane on the bottom after like five years. After watching you peel that off I immediately ran to my studio and peeled it off. Ohhhh yeahhhhh
I ran into the same issue with my Mission expression pedal -- they sell a replacement bottom that's made of thicker plexiglass... not the greatest solution, but it's the one THEY offer.
You need an EWS crybaby plate. That recesses the screws and gives you a rock solid base to velcro to. Martin's just dispatched my 450XDM for my Quad Cortex so it's great to see your build!!
Cool board. Very handy. If you want those pedals to never move use 3M Dual-Lock haha. I bought a big beast of a board a few years back used, made by Fix Pedalboards, came with an MXR/CAE 403 power supply mounted underneath and some very handy aluminum junction blocks underneath with Neutrik connectors out the side for Guitar/Amp/Effects Loop/IEC Power Just mentioning that so your board builder friend or other people might get a few more tricks up their sleeve.
I've run into the same issue with pulling rubber feet off expression/wah pedals. Short of getting different screws or cutting them down, I've just used some spare nylon washers to boost screws just enough and still enough bite with velcro. Works well, and nothing is modded if you ever want to resell.
Looks like a nice rig. Can you show us how solved the hole thing with the different tunings? as i remember that was the reason you guys used the Shuriken in the first place. love that u can use your guitars now. can't wait to finaly see you guys in Austria. Nice video as always. cheers!
I think the Quad has a pretty good pitch shifter in it, so he’s probably just using that. And unlike a band like twelve foot ninja, I feel the tunings he would be going between would be pretty standard, so no need for the shurikan
Sure I can make a little video on it - basically I realised that 99% of the songs I can managed by shifting the whole guitars tuning, and just relearning some of the positions to fit with that. The shuriken was great for the banjo sounds and unique stuff we need throughout the set. At the minute we are working on finding replacement tones for those. But yeah, basically I can use QC and just pitch shift the guitar. The tracking is great and it doesn’t seem to mess with the tone that much at all.
The new rig being able to handle all those specific parameters for Frog Leap is awesome! Didn't think it was possible without the helix. However, the QC (and other gear) is still just too damn expensive. At roughly $2300 (used), I'd rather just stick with the Helix floorboard (or LT) and the Shuriken. One guitar. One floorboard. DONE. Simplicity goes a long way.
Not sure why Mission don't provide more options for users wanting to mount their pedals to pedalboards. Only a couple of their range have flat bottom risers with holes in for the rubber feet that then allow Velcro mounting. I ended up making my own cardboard/velcro riser and hooking the top rubber feet over one of the bars of my Pedaltrain to keep it in place. Not pretty, but it kind of works.
For future boards, look into the StageTrix Wah Fastener. It makes it so you can take the feet off of a wah or similar pedal and they have velcro already on them so no having to deal with putting velco on your pedal. I love them, I have them on all my wahs and my Rotovibe.
Awesome video 👍🏻 been waiting for it since you posted the pic on Insta. Do you still have the Shuriken guitars? Just wondering as they are like gold dust now since Yamaha discontinued them 😞 Love my one but wanted a white one 😞 Any chance you can do a video showing how you are dealing with all the tuning changes for Frog Leap with the QC ? 🤘🏻
I actually just bought the Ciocks DC7 with the 8 power kit, $600.0 CAD. Dollar. But it's the last supply I'll buy kinda thing. Just a suggestion add the Ciocks 8 to your system as the one unit took up 4 spots on your DC7. Just a suggestion, but you'll thank me latter lol. I'm just rebuilding my pedalboard and I just the Temple audio. I'm so jealous of that board you picked up. So much easier to work with. Mine has been a work in progress for almost a week now lol
aww man that expression pedal can be saved... use your other hook n loop and cut some thick cardboard up to make a riser the same height as the feet remnants.. it'll be solid as Fooooook!
I struggled with pronouncing the Ciocks. Then I found it from Henning Pauly that it is a Chocks 😂. They are awesome 😌. I have one on my board, always spend on power supply, always ☺️.
The cioks power supply is expensive but its one of those things if you just get it first it will save you headaches down the road and money ... ask me how i know when i bought a UA pedal .. two power supplies later and the cioks to the rescue.
Rabea!!!! I cant believe you didnt get the Mssion expression Pedal with the LED glow bottom feature. wtf? didnt get the glow feature on your wha, right?
Flight case was a good choice… Every Schmidt Array I’ve ever bought has been damaged in shipping. I love them, but the plywood construction is just too fragile. I’ll probably never buy another one. I do wish they’d go to aluminum construction.
You get so many comments so maybe this was already mentioned. I had the exact same issue with a ME Volume pedal and really any wah pedal. I left the feet fully on and used two decent sized zip ties in black to wrap around the middle. Doesn't impact the rocking motion as there is plenty of space. Totally stays put.
Why do we need effect pedal switcher if we only used 3 pedal effect and one expression pedal ? Just want to know why, because I gonna do some project for my new pedalboard setup. Currently I used 6 pedal effect and 1 Vox pedal, without pedal switcher.
You know you’ve made it in RUclips pedal world when you get a Schmidt Array haha I’m still happy(well my bank account is) banging together some plywood and velcro
I was just coding a "No U-Turn Sampler" algorithm for Hamilton Monte Carlo sampling and was just coding the Leap-Frog loop (for integrating the momentum term) when I saw this video
I am indeed! I’m hooked. It’s absolutely incredible. By far their best work yet. And I love bloodborne but this is insaaaaaane. Hahaha would be fun to stream, but I don’t do it regularly enough I think it needs to be a regular thing hahah
@@RabeaMassaad Glad you're enjoying it brother. It's immense and I can't put it down. I'll still hold out hope for the Rabea "Tones and Tarnished" stream.
I suffered the same thing when I tried to attach a wah pedal to a flat board. I didn't want to shear off the feet or try cutting the screws. NYC Pedalboards makes a piece of wood that has holes in it for the rubber feet so a vp/exp/wah can attach to it without the removal of rubber feet.
Yeah it’s pretty cool, I just have one of them desktop tv stands that I put my main board on, then I have a separate power supply and couple pedals underneath for my 6505mh, I main a Engl Invader 2 so it’s only if I feel like running 2 amps in stereo. Super awesome sounding but too loud for everyday.
It has a power supply. But I guess if you only want to have to plug in one power cable then you have to have something that accommodate all the stuff on your board. Personally I wouldn’t care about having to power the QC individually.
cool pedal board but 744£ plus tax as its coming from outside uk . wow ,im sorry but i wouldnt pay that amount of monet for that pedal bord but it look cool 😅

Sounded excellent on Thursday, fantastic to hear live music again
Oh man thanks for taking our heads away from the war for a bit. Great content.
Saw you guys at Brixton last week. Such a great time, sounded incredible - awesome to be at a live show again!
It was great running into you at Sweetwater. Thanks for chatting for a few minutes! Glad you made the trip back safely!

Sweet, proper rig.
Sweet, proper playing and tones.

it's called the PR-1 pedal riser kit. Probably not hard to make one yourself though.
It looks perfect, but considering how tidy Dan's builts are he wouldn't sleep at night if he saw this ;)
I don't know how much the GigRig modular power system costs, but I'm surprised Rabea didn't go that route. I'm sure there's a reason.

That was my first thought when Bea announced that he switched his setup for Frog Leap.
If you check at 11 mins you can see him changing the tuning on the fly before using the expression pedal

For the feet I would have recommended 3M dual lock “risers”. That’s what I use on my mission pedal
EWS wah board. they are made for putting pedals like that on a board. i believe they do fit the mission expression pedals

Hi Rabea, do you have that effects presets online for download? They sound awesome!! Thanks
11:45-12:30. Man. Damn. Immediately calming. How do you do that? I am amazed every time.
Delay and slow saturated blues rock.
The missions seem to work best with the EXP on this. I’ve tried so many but yours seem to have a good sweep on them.
These on the cortex cloud ??
The neck on the Chapman looks beautiful
DUDE! Those pants are killer haha I need me some of those
Love you Bea!
Not sure if the base underneath the expression pedal can be taken off, I would have drilled some holes and secured the expression pedal that way....
So that pedal board might even be small enough for carry on luggage? THAT is fantastic!
if u turn the back plate of the wah ...sticks better and u save the print
Ace board! How have you set up your revival drive, is it on power amp setting or EQ 1/2? How do you run the blend knob?
I have it on EQ1 and the blend is in full :)
Hi Rabea! And what about your Schmidt Array big one? I thought that perfect! Do you give up of it?

The lack of iec power on the quad cortex is so odd for a pro level piece of gear??? Has definitely put me off from buying one.
From what I’ve seen on different sites it comes with a power supply.

yes. if you can find a power supply that has AC pass through, such as the Moen MISO 8, you can plug the wall wart into that and power the QC that way.
what happened to the Mimiq?
