I really like these kinds of videos because it shows people a new way and different way to play things. I especially like how you unapologetically use the miniatures you already own and just have fun
Lots of good ideas for generating encounters and making the campaign more dynamic. I hope I can work on a proper campaign series like this in the future with a map
Isn't starting a campaign the best fun? Just like buying a new army for a new project - all the anticipation and promise. Exciting stuff. I may like your Rampant battles, but you just can't beat watching your campaigns
Curious to see how you handle casualties POW/Injuries for the undead. I tend to hand wave it, POW represent lose of resources for the undead side (not zombies marched off to POW camp), and injuries represent missing parts that need time to be fixed by the necromancers.
The undead are unwilling slaves to their dark lords. Best to free them of their curse and misery, terminate them all. Return their dark lords, the vampire counts to their day of judgement. LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE AND OUR GRACE, THE EMPEROR.
@@edackley8595 Ah, that just imperialistic propaganda, to excuse war crimes. Undead combatants are afforded rights under the castlevania accords and the blade vs. frost decision.
I'm not sure what he might think, but my personal take when I mess with fantasy zombies, is replace those things with magical concentration to keep them animated Maybe they move slower because it's exhausting keeping zombies at full battle rattle all the time, or maybe they're actively rotting and falling apart, and we need to stop/raid/dig up cemeteries for maintenance
Yippee . Although I shudder to think that anything is beyond ' The Joy' . If you were to proxy in more of your figs , you could do larger or more units. Keep the front rank correct and the back guys are just casualties . 2 cents.
I know this is a little off topic but I wanted to get your opinion. I was gifted a copy of the Solo Wargaming Guide and I noticed that Poor road and off- road are exactly the same as far as stats go. Now I get that poor road isn’t very useful but it seems like even a poor road would be at least some benefit to off road. I’ve been trying to come up with a reasonable mechanic and my best ideas so far is a small benefit of an extra inch or so after a days usage of a poor road or some drift from intended location when off road. Any thoughts?
Maybe a system where troops travel just as slow on poor roads but they don't get exhausted as quickly as if when traveling through straight wilderness?
Poor road should improve movement in fair weather but be equivalent to offroad (even possibly impassable, such as if it's a low cutout near a body of water in the rainy season) in inclement weather.
Sorry, mate. I think I am going to have to pretty much steal your ideas here seeing as they are so fantastic! Been trying to invent a method of developing a map based 40k campaign and kept getting hung up on movement and avoiding duplicate battles. This system is excellent!!

"Even thralls gotta sleep." -2023, Mr. Wargaming.
Can't wait for the new campaign!
Priest Rickley. Very inspired.
This is great, always nice to see the ideas bubbling out of the House of Wargaming.
Some are harder than others. That one is a dead giveaway.
*fist bump*

Yes, been waiting to see you do a map campaign with a more magic/fantasy system.
Names for the cannons: James Boanerges and John Boanerges, or Jeremiah and Ezekiel, or Elijah and Moses.
Based New Testament reference
cannot wait for more!
As Gerry from OTT says. The dry dead and the wet dead.
Which is how I found this channel and Obscurities in Miniature

Shouldn’t the undead have double move? Since they don’t need rest? Or food? Or supplies?

I don't have my copy on me, but I think bad weather affects movement more off road. Might want to double check that, though I like your idea of drift.

@@lacky9320 I thought off-road travel in bad weather was way more punishing to artillery, too.

Do some of the dead Romans not rise as undead if the Vamps have the field after a battle.
They just might.
Darn. I need trolls. Maybe Substitute Ogres???
Four out of five of my trolls are ogres proxying as trolls. Don't tell the pursists. 🤫
@@TheJoyofWargaming 👍👍👍👍
Ogres identifying as trolls is a thing these days.
so a little hint of Battletech
Does the Broman Empire spread the Pax Bromana?
