I love this place...my wash bay. I could spend all day out there. Well, Sunday morning I skipped out on church and did what I love to do. Wash my car and talk to my friends.

I‘m so glad that I spent the majority of my puberty watching Matt‘s videos. I didn‘t do any illegal crap or anything stupid. He inspired me to wash cars and keep everything in life organized. The video where he washed his white Porsche (Not his current RS), that was randomly in my recommendations actually made a huge impact on my life. (I felt so old after he mentioned Katy and I‘m only 19 yrs old)

Came here for a good old fashioned wash and talk and left with some great detailing business advice and life advice from the man himself. Truly no matter what you think about the content Matt it's truly inspiring to see what obssesed garage has done over the years. Huge fan, and hope to one day make it up to OGHQ and meet the mastermind behind it all!

It always bugged me cleaning the tires with that brush and it hits the outside painted fenders, the brush is also hard plastic and since i am Obsessed also i wonder if it bugs you? I now use a kitchen cleaning brush that fits the smaller tires and seems to not hit the painted fender area.

You hit the nail on the head on this video! I used to detail cars for a dealer out of high school. Extremely labor intensive and working flat-rate I was busting my ass off every single day. My body hurt all over, especially my hands and feet. I couldn't wait to get away from that line of work which I finally did in 2006. Here we are 13 years later and I finally found joy in detailing my own vehicles again.

Matt, man... you're the man. Every time I watch one of your videos, I learn something new or expand my horizon of possibilities. There was a time that I thought about starting my own detailing business because the idea of working for yourself or your select clients sounds like a dream in not being stuck in a corporate ladder. But hearing your thoughts about always growing and always learning and how being a full-time detailer is just tons and tons of hard work and can't possibly be something that someone would want to do for years on end. It really boils down to a lot of manual labor type income that is labor intensive. It can get old and tiring quick, and people will always be looking for an exit strategy to grow themself and be able to make that income without having to slave away at hard labor every day. I guess this is why you don't see too many old people doing hard labor jobs. It's not something people want to be doing until their time is up. Anyway, keep on doing you, love being on this adventure with you. -Scott K

Hey Matt Just received my entire setup from you yesterday and truly enjoyed the whole washing experience. The packaging from OG is impeccable and truly on a pursuit of being functionally excellent. With regards to brake buster in the foam cannon, what was the ratio you put in the cannon as I really would want to follow that setup. Also, in your pressol bottles, is brake buster inside it straight up or dilluted?

If you ultimately decide to switch to Hyperwash and offer it in the store, will you offer a 32oz concentrate and a gallon? Would be interested in trying it but not committing to a gallon right away - similar to HyperDressing it will just last too long at the concentration ha-ha. I've transitioned from Adams to Optimum Car Wash - I'm unsure if they have changed the formulation since you last used it on the GT350 back in 2017 but it's a much 'thicker' or viscous product now (comparable to Adams in that regard). Watching that video, the soap appeared very 'thin' or of 'lower viscosity' when you were mixing it up in the foam cannon. It still mixes very well in a foam cannon, suds very well, and the lubrication is superb. I've found it cleans better and less residue in my circumstances. Just a thought maybe re-testing it before Car Washing Packaging v2.0 is finalized :) Beautiful 1M I hope it gets raffled off to a worthy "OG'er"!

The rant that starts at 30:45 about small guys not being able to make better products gets to me. Even if they aren't chemists themselves. There's a couple of assumptions there that don't always pan out: the bigger companies have the best resources and chemists and if there was something good or better they'd be doing it. This simply isn't how established companies work.
Established and larger companies have a very hard time innovating. How long did Megs take to create a wax with Si02? They were very late to the game. Other innovators have been on it for years. Usually once these established companies find a cash cow or two they go into milking mode, where they fear changing it too much and souring the milk. Sometimes they're experimenting with other things, but in general they don't tend to innovate as fast on new stuff that's just on the horizon. They play it safe.
And, there was the video recently where Matt is admitting that he just tossed out a product not thinking it would be any good, but then later tried it and found it was actually impressive. I think it was wheel cleaner.
There are some basic logic errors here about where innovations come from and who could possibly have the better products. Maybe only 1 out of those 10 guys making something new actually has something good... maybe 1 in 20. But I'll bet some of them have something innovative and worth giving a chance. Probably wouldn't try them on much more than test panels from a junk yard at first, but ya know, give them a shot.

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  5 лет назад

I don't disagree, but those guys are companies like Bilt Hamber where the dude is chemist or chemical manufacturer. What I'm talking about is the guy in his garage or local detailer that goes to a blender to rebottle some stuff. They add scent and color to existing recipes, use it a few times, ask the blender to tweak it a bit, create a crappy label, then choose an off the shelf bottle. Phil from Auto Fanatic has had dozens and dozens of iterations of his wheel cleaner and has made it from scratch. That doesn't happen very often.

On an other topic, it's interesting to see you simplify and optimize your washing, as i've been doing it too. Reducing number of product, step, etc. Now that all your car are going to be ceramic coated, are you thinking of a stronger pre-wash ? Maybe Hyper wash is already a step in that direction compared to Adam's

  • @roastbeefoffroad

well, when you're ready for a good wheel cleaner, get some sonax full effect.

I used that for a few years, but it's been about 5 years since. NextZett Colourtec is a better version of that type of cleaner. Having cared for and coated wheels, iron removers aren't really necessary.

I ordered one of the LARGE wheel brushes you're using and whenever I clean the back sides of the wheels and PULL IT OUT, I get covered in brake-dust-black water spray! Like when you pull your thumb on a toothbrush spray! I'm trying to see how you avoid that.

    Hello,
Are the Stanley pressure washers made by the same company as AR Blue Clean?
    Thank You!

Obsessed Garage Thank you for your quick response!! After you were talking about the Stanley I was looking at pressure washers online and noticed that 2 photos were exactly the same except for the color and branding.
      I appreciate it thank you!
